Big room space, very clean & well maintained resort”
The staff was very friendly, courteous and hospitable. The place is conveniently located just a kilometer away from the town center's commercial area, public market and Babak port. They not only allowed us to bring food & drinks, but also gladly provided us with plates & kitchen wares. The sweet ripe mangoes, grilled tuna and other foods were sold in low prices in the vicinity of the town proper - so affordable that we just can't help but buy and bring some in the hotel.

Misleading”
When we get to the resort, it is not what we expected as it’s very different from their description in Agoda. We came to Samal to have a nice beach trip and we chose this place as we thought we no longer need to have a booked tour just to swim at a nice beach but we were wrong. The water is so bad and there’s a lot of trash. You won’t dare to swim. I like it that there’s a lot of trees but the place is not well-maintained. Also, there’s this creepy black bird that flew everywhere, so we didn’t enjoy the balcony of our room. The water supply in the bathroom is too low as well as the phone signal. They don’t have a cable subscription. Since there’s nothing much to do, we just slept the whole time. Positive side? The food is nice but a bit over-priced. Good thing we had a free breakfast the next day. Their staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room is big. Overall, we are really disappointed. We should’ve just booked a day tour around samal.

We had the most relaxing vacation”
We stayed at Precious Garden Resort where it seems like we’re the only guests due to its spacious and peaceful scenery with a beach front and floating cavana! You can also take your breakfast by the beach 🥰 but the best thing is having a big room with a king sized bed plus free entrance fee & boat ride to Vanishing Island for a reasonable rate‼️ Things to improve on are airconditioning and low water supply but overall it was a great stay

2 Stars Rating only”
Stayed for 2nights but the hotel didn’t have any wifi due to unpaid bill. The breakfast was okay but what we liked the most is the complimentary ride to Vanishing Island. There are still a lot of things to improve in the area most especially the beach front and dining area. Since the place is a resort, there should have been free kettle with free teas and coffee since compared to other resorts they are quite expensive but at least the staff was polite and accommodating.

Beautiful Property”
Pros Good restaurant, beautiful grounds, clean room , great king size bed and good AC . Room has large privat balcony which was very nice. Privat dock to walk out on from the beach. Cons Toilet didn’t work had to use bucket of water to flush , no pool, tv had no cable and only pick up one local station . Peaceful and very serene place with a quite natural environment .

very relaxing and enjoyable visit”
A pleasant surprise for both of us. We extended for a week beyond the initial 3 day booking since we liked it so much. The location is about 5 to 10 minutes ride on a motor trike to the passenger wharf for the ferry boat to Davao. The ferry costs 13 pesos/person, very cheap and fun. I found the food at the hotel's restaurant reasonably priced and very good quality with lots of variety in the dishes offered. The staff at the hotel were absolutely charming and couldn't do enough for us. In a quirk of fate or mild coincidence, all of them had names starting with 'J'... Jade, Janice, Juni, Jane, Jessica, Joy etc etc. My partner is Jay so he fit right in. We found it very gay friendly so will definitely come back for an extended stay on our next visit to Samal Garden Island.

Nice affordable hotel”
This hotel tucked in a lovely setting in a garden although not beachfront can access to the beach by merely walking 2 minutes. The family room is really very comfortable with a balcony. The food served in the restaurant is very delicious and affordable. You can have your breakfast and lunch in the beach itself. Also there is early fisherman catch beside the beach and have it cooked in the restaurant for a minimal fee.Highly recommendable to all budget travelers. Having spent overnight in luxurious Pearl farm twice , I rather spent my 2 nights here next time.

The rooms are clean and cozy, approchable staff and yummy food serve in the restaurant are really affordable. You can request to have your breakfast and lunch in the beach. Nice hotel but terrible beach”
Hotel Precious Garden is located a bit off the beaten path in a beautiful garden, but its not really a beachfront. Not to mention the "beach" is a muddy small strip of land with horrible access, not so clean water and during lowtide absolutely unsuitable for anything. On the positive side the hotel has free of charge boat trips to Vanishing island and very good restaurant on the premises. The rooms are pretty basic without a fridge, but clean and accomodating.

Surprise place”
This place was a surprise and a great value for the money. My GF and I stayed for three days. The food and staff was great. It was quiet but it was the middle of the week. They were very helpful in arranging travel and activities. I would certainly come back here. Samal is a beautiful place.

Amazing Food. Quite a Lovely Experience”
Precious Garden well maintained, well managed and very friendly. The main resort is about 100 meters off the actual beach in an immaculate garden setting. Walk down a palm shaded path and get to the private beach with lots of cabanas, a bar and a pier with another bar out over the water. Best of all was the food. It was really exceptional. We had the pizza from the wood fire oven…amazing. You must try the Kinilaw. It’s a local delicacy where fresh raw fish is drenched in vinegar and calamansi juice to ‘cook’ it. Seems the place is run by Germans, but I never met the owner. I’ve lived in the Philippines for 3 years and I have to say this place was beyond my expectations. Here is a run down of positive and negatives: Positives: 1. Food Food Food. Had German curry sausage, pizza, American breakfast, German breakfast, kinilaw, sizzling gambas and French fries. All were some of the best food I’ve ever had. 2. Cleanliness. The beds and room were basic, but good. Nothing really fancy. I stayed in what was called a matrimonial room. Air conditioner was fine. Bathroom was clean. 3. Service. Everyone we encountered was very nice and attentive. A lot of places in the Philippines have nice people. Attentive is the harder part. When I went done to the beach at night to sit in a cabana and relax, they send an attendant just for me to open the bar and let me drink. They also delivered food. 4. Price. The room was affordable. The food was affordable, but more expensive than you might find in the village. Not bad though. Negatives: 1. Like most hotels in the Philippines below 4 stars, this place was hot-water challenged. Took a solid 10 minutes before a weak stream of warm water came out. I’m used to it I guess. 2. Not a lot of people. If you want to people watch, this is not the place. Seemed like there were not a lot of rooms. Felt like I was the only guy there. Even at the beac

Buy a generator-warm beer and brownouts ”
It was a very nice hotel, friendly staff, nice, small beach, very well maintained, but I also have some critics. The management should buy a generator to limit brownouts who happened all the time during my stay. The beer was with 60 Pesos far too expensive for Samal standards, e.g in Samal Island Huts I only paid 35 Pesos. And also in a standard room I expect a queen size bed for a couple and not 2 single beds. Gerrit Buurman, Travel agent, Angeles City, Philippines

Beautiful Place with Nice People”
The resort is large with a private beach and pier. The rooms are very clean. In fact the room I checked in would probably be the best among all resort rooms I tried in the Philippines. The employees are extremely kind and helpful. I took many pictures of their flowers and my friends said they were really beautiful. If there was a dive shop and a dive spot near by, it would have been the most ideal resort for me on Samal island.

Superb Service”
Precious Garden of Samal is the place to go if you want a place to relax; it has modern minimalist rooms, delicious food, nice view from the balcony and the best place for Filipino hospitality. We got a matrimonial room and we loved it; the bed was big enough and I presume new because the mattress still had plastic, although I'd prefer to sleep without the plastic but I'm sure this can be taken care of. The pizza was great; really yummy and so was our breakfast by the beach side. We can see lots of plants from our room balcony. We were treated very well; Chris, the bellman/waiter, was very attentive to our needs and was very resourceful. I'd love to stay in Precious Garden the next time I go to Samal.

Worst stay ever”
I knew it would be noisy due to Xmas celebrations. But to discover that guests were able to ignore totally other guests on the same level with screaming kids and drunken parents & companions until 2.30 in the morning without that anyone of hotel management would have demanded respect is unacceptable. Worst that then at 6am the music beat started at the beach front, loads of drunk guests or whatever they were can’t describe the frustration. Gates were wide open and the guards playing mobile games. That most of the healthy breakfast options were not available..... we left fleeing from that place at 7am. Since I knew that lovely place from before I wonder what happened to the dignity and style of this still beautiful place

Xoxo”
The hotel is relaxing enough, maybe bcoz theres only 1guest aside from us.. what i cant understand is that they cant even give a consideration with their breakfast.. they serve it until 9am but we ask for it later than the time given to us, thats why im expecting that they will give consideration knowing they only have 2guest for that day.. anyway i hope they enjoyed the breakfast we paid for.. ahahahaha! Overall the hotel is worth the price,

Not a Quiet Place at All”
When I arrive, I like the quiet and relax ambiance, the food is great and the people visiting should try it. The staff are friendly and greeted us as we enter the reception. I was actually enticed by the promise of quiet and relax atmosphere for my most awaited rest, but it turns out the opposite, as a loud speaker and a noisy group of people singing till 4am in the morning, then there are banging of doors and shouting from the next room. And no staff even bothered to address the noise. Then the aircon was turned off and nobody was available to inquire with. The following night, it’s black out, again no aircon. Then that same group staying beside our room definely cannot sleep chit chatting and laughing. And the supposed restful night was gone. The place is nice but needs maintenance. I actually like the food. I might come back.. or not.

Good Valie for money, good service, good food, quiet place... But...”
Food: I really love the food, its actually affordable... Its still like buying food at the trendy cafés and restaurant in Davao so no promblem about that. Room: affordable room, it clean, especially the cr! I love it... Its quiet and has a balcony however be careful of the sheets... Sad it may seem but they are not changing the covers and comforters :/ its disappointing... We end up itching all night :( ... I hope they address that... So if you think the sheets aren't clean... Replace new ones stat. Ambiance: I love that its quiet that it feels like you own the place however if there are events then no brainer it could get noisy xD just find a date that isn't going to be crowded Beach: the beach is clean yet i got disappointed in swimming in it... The sand underwater is sticky :/ so be careful... Better wait for high tide to come! But overall I am satisfied since me and my family just want a retreat from work and city noise.

Great stay and value for money”
If you are looking for a serene place this is a perfect spot for you. Garden on a beach is a great plus point. Not crowded even on summer season (other beach are packed). Food is great but limited option. Cleanliness of room is also good, except for some sands on the bathroom.

Beautiful location, very unfriendly staff”
Best thing about this place is the grounds, which are spacious and beautiful with lots of trees, peaceful and quiet. The restaurant serves good food at a reasonable price. Facilities are so-so, the shower was broken so hot water was very sparse. A/c sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. Too bad the staff here are so unfriendly. Nobody even says hello when you show up, they never smile and they don't care one way or another if you are there or not. Some of the weirdest, rudest hotel staff I've encountered in 15 months in the Phillipines. They didn't even give me clean towels, change my sheets or empty my trash can in a 5 day stay. I can't believe a resort this nice would hire an entire crew of staff people this bad, especially since so many of the reviews say the same thing. I guess the owner just doesn't care. If you want a nice place to stay with good value and decent food and don't care too much about quality staff, this place fits the bill.
