Checked in just after 8pm. Staff were lovely. Offered us the complimentary dessert upon arrival. The atmosphere was very nice. Room clean and comfortable. Facilities also good. Extra blankets and hot water bottles available for use. But it wasn't cold for September. Didn't even need to use heater in the room. Overall enjoyed our stay

Tasman Bay is bright, friendly and welcoming with great kitchen facilities, plenty of showers. And they serve free chocolate pudding with ice cream at 8pm every evening to start off a sociable hour. They can make travel bookings for you too.

Amazing perks for a hostel”
Highlights: Free use of bikes and hot lava cake with ice cream at 8pm everyday! Not a party hostel so if you're looking for that, skip this place. But it was so comfortable, clean, kitchen was well stocked, good common areas, hammocks out front. Perfect for chilling after a long day of activities. Beds were comfortable and staff were really helpful. Loved it here!

Really enjoyed staying here in a room with queen & single bed plus ensuite. Nice peaceful location a couple of mins by bike from town centre. Staff were very friendly and so were the other lovely guests who were mainly overseas folk on working holidays- a delight to talk to. Very comfy hostel with plenty of space for everyone. The choc pud & ice- cream were a treat! Would love to stay here again.

Great spot, kitchen is crazy busy in a morning for brekkie, would hate to be there in the busy season, maybe a couple extra toasters would be helpful? Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again!

Worse stay ever booked 3 nights got no sleep cos of the noise people so loud and no respect for others that are sleeping. Staff part of the problem at night stays outside room laughing and talking loudly after 10pm (which clearly says to keep noise down and be considerate of others after 10pm ). Room was small for a double no tv way to hot even with the door and windows open no fan available. Wifi says unlimited but it's not, always cuts out very poor wifi. Seems random people that know the staff turn up for the silly chocolate pudding which makes it so noisy at 8pm with extra people that aren't from the back packers. So yea if you're looking for somewhere with no sleep and enjoy noise all night with people partying outside all night this is the place for you cos it's very clear the staff dont give a shit don't recommend this place at all cos you hear everything

Hi Karen, So sad to read your review. Most of our guests have a great time here so it's annoying to hear that you experienced a time when obviously there was a lot of noise outside your room. This is not so usual for us. Guests usually are more respectful. And if people want to come to the hostel we say they need to stay as guests not visit so not sure how they would have sneaked in - we are usually more on to this. We are fortunate to have many different rooms, if you were to come back, please ask for a room around the back which would be quieter.

Off street parking available without charges. Close to the town within 10 minutes walking distance. The staff is friendly and provided free hot chocolate pudding every day at 8pm. 👍

Nice laid back place. Short walk to town. Very clean. Decent sized, well stocked kitchen. Good communal areas, indoor and out and free chocolate pudding to promote socialising. Plenty of info and advice on things to do from friendly staff.

Can't fault it. Super clean and tidy. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff. No bathroom complaints either. Kitchen and lounge are a1.... and the price was awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I really liked the design of Tasman bay and it has a great central location. Also the free chocolate pudding at night is great. My only downside was that it was quite noisy as you can hear everything happening in the hallway or nearby rooms.
