Revisiting an old favourite”
My wife and I have stayed at the Lygon many times over the last 10 years and this was the first since the most recent ownership change. It’s clear the extra investment has paid off and the rooms, dining and facilities are hard to fault. We stayed in one of the garden suites which was lovely and the complimentary mini bar of soft drinks and inclusive (and very good) breakfast was a nice touch. I only had one complaint which did lead us to moving rooms in the early evening. It was handled very well by the staff member involved, but nonetheless was inconvenient. The reason behind it was a neighbouring room above us having a dog inside (alone) which was making a lot of noise running around and whimpering. I was very surprised to hear the hotel was dog friendly and it’s not a policy I support. If you’re going to pay for a high end hotel I don’t wish to risk listening to dogs nor to sleep in rooms which have had pets in them. Some may disagree. All in all we still had a great stay.
pretentious, expensive and with over attentive staff.
Relaxing Stunning location Manager Jason / staff cannot do enough for you.
Great location - Disapointing food”
Room and location were great - Food was very expensive and the quality was not great. We stayed in the old part of the hotel which requires you walking through the restaurant to get to reception. Bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet.
A quality hotel with a mixture of character and modern ”
A beautifully presented quality hotel with recent re-refurbishment combining tradition with modern. Although an effort to present a more modern approach is evident such as the dress code for the staff I feel the service charge is outdated a £2.00 fee for serving two drinks just a few feet from the bar seems excessive.
Short stay in Broadway”
What a wonderful hotel, steeped in history, a real olde world gem, just pure delight.
Unable to stay”
Our party of four was booked in for one night but the Hotel had no water and was closed when we arrived to check in. They had been unable to contact us but had booked us into alternative accommodation in the village. which proved to be very satisfactory. The Lygon Arms offered us a complimentary lunch with champagne for the next day which we accepted. The lunch was excellent and the service was very good.
Would be helpful to have signs for the rooms - otherwise their numbering is a bit random and not consecutive and was easy to get lost on the first visit.
Very nice but not perfect...”
The hotel is beautiful, beautiful design that puts great emphasis on its history, especially the main restaurant, which is stunning. The rooms are also nice, very comfortable beds and clean. The food was nice but not amazing. Same for the drinks, definitely didn't seem worth the price (£15 for Bellini) as cocktails were mediocre. The breakfast however was generous and the food was lovely. Location was also good, with easy access to walks and only a couple of hours walk to Broadway Tower and back in the snow. While this is not a comment on the hotel, it is worth mentioning that the high street was not treated for snow and ice and so walking outside on the pavements was quite difficult and very slippery. Overall our stay was very pleasant but our biggest disappointment was the spa as they had no spaces for treatments during the 3 days we stayed. We specifically chose this hotel due to the spa and its great reviews and so we were quite shocked that the spa couldn't accommodate treatments during the 3 days. You'd hope that a spa hotel at this standard would have sufficient staff and availability to accommodate its guests. Eventually the hotel did manage to get us a single slot for half an hour, which for a couple stay didn't seem sufficient nor was it quite long enough for the treatments offered.
Great hotel great location and good staff
Our favourite place - great for walks & magical at X’mas”
Great atmosphere, cosy rooms with lig fire, centrally located & exquisite shops! Delicious food & polite staff. What more can one want?
The whole place was fantastic from the facilities to the food and staff. I would have no hesitation in returning (and hope to do so soon!) or recommending to friends.
My four days at Lygon Arms!”
Excellent hotel with a character! Excellent location. Very friendly and caring staff! I would certainly recommend it!
We chose to stay at the Lygon Arms as we got married in Cheltenham. All the staff were very friendly and made our stay very special even though we didn't choose to us their hotel to get married at. We will defiantly be returning in the future. It's a brilliant hotel and we enjoyed every moment spent there. Thank you so much Mr and Mrs Hopkinson
Excellent overall experience!”
Hotel perfectly situated in the village of Broadway. Staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous. Enjoyed the pool for an early morning swim. Food (evening meal and breakfast) was excellent.
The staff were very welcoming. Hotel stunning had lovely time.
2 out of 3 bedrooms were good”
I had 3 rooms booked for the weekend and my guests were very disappointed with room 40 apart from having to access the room through the dining room, the room was very small and had a very small bed and bathroom
Stay at lygon hotel.”
Nice. The room was too hot and the outside door didn't close entirely therefore felt a little insecure. Pool was nice and staff were polite.
Very nice old hotel. Excellent location. Attentive staff. Broadway itself an enjoyable place to stay.
