Más sobre Kanazawa

Kanazawa is a historic city touched over time by samurai, merchants, the geisha, and lords. A UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art and famous for its cuisine, the city is very popular with Japanese tourists. More international tourists are starting to find this overlooked gem that is tucked into Snow Country, a part of Japan that receives a large amount of snowfall. The nearest airport is found in Komatsu, and an hour-long bus ride will complete the journey to reach the city.

Temples, shrines, castles, and museums offer a number of opportunities to spend the day when in Kanazawa. But the most popular of all the sites is the Kenroku-en Garden, or the Garden of the Six Attributes. There are a number of districts that draw many tourists, including those of the samurai and geisha. The Nagamachi Samurai District recreates the feel of samurai housing. The Nomura House is open to the public, and a couple houses that would belong to low-ranking samurai offer a nice place to rest. For the life of the geisha, head to Higashi Chaya-gai and check out the Shima House. The temple district of Teramachi is also a popular part of the city. Although said to be not associated with actual ninja assassins, the Ninja Temple is an exciting stop with features that make you wonder if ninjas actually did live here. The Kanazawa Castle Site, Kazuemachi, and the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum add to the excitement that can be found in this beautiful city.
