Centrally located; warm, friendly & helpful staff; large spacious rooms
Most enjoyable stay. Friendly & helpful crew - from reception to housekeeping. Didn't get a chance to sample acclaimed restaurants due to public holiday. Look forward to visiting again!

Funky design, great location, getting tired
Location, room size, great breakfast
The Establishment is a great boutique hotel in the centre of Sydney at a very reasonable price. rooms are large, staff all very friendly and personable. Only downsides are the hotel is getting slightly tired (Shower flooded the bathroom as the door seal wasnt working, symbols worn off the light swtiches, etc). Also I was on a low floor and woken at 5.20 every morning by delivery trucks - best get a higher floor. The rooms and common areas are all a little dark, however the design is 'cool', the breakfast menu is great, and the restaurant and bar seem very popular. Its also right in the centre so very convenient for business meetings or sightseeing.

just our luck...
restaurants around the vicinity, luxury bathroom, turndown service
it is a great place to stay for a weekend of eating/drinking at the different restaurants/bars that the Merivale group has to offer. the staff were excellent in helping us make reservations. the bath was also lush, to say the least. we booked the establishment room and requested the highest floor, of which they happily obliged. however, there was a party next door on the second night - very very uncomfortable with constant shouting and laughing as well as music, slamming of doors, the drunk ringing of our doorbell, etc. we asked the staff twice to quieten the party down as it was well after 1am but there was no change in the noise levels. the staff also did not offer any form of apology or compensation for our very uncomfortable night - something that should be expected from a luxury boutique hotel that offers personal service. anyway, overall it is great to dine and enjoy the room and the bath but we were underwhelmed by customer service and the noise factor.
