The staff "seems" to be helpful. But when you ask questions they are not that helpful and makes you fell like you a burden. And they tried to charge double the price for laundry. Would not go here again.

Staff is nice and allowed us to check in very early The room seemed very comfortable till we tried to used the toilet and it was clogged and the mattress was full of stain (looked like bed bugs)

Great location! Less than 10 min walk from Pub street and the central area, however, still very quiet. Good chill vibe at this guesthouse.

Strategic, cheap but poorly maintained”

What I liked about Golden Papaya Guesthouse: 1) Strategic location - about 5 min walk to Old Market Area where you can get food, bike rental and shopping 2) Cheap price - costed me about RM50 per night (tax inclusive) 3) Spacious room What I think can be improved on: 1) Room maintenance - (a) door was misaligned, hence it was hard to secure the lock, worse still, we were stuck in the room because of the door; (b) water heater was not working at first, called for maintenance and it worked afterwards but control of heat was inexistent, (c) water pressure was ridiculously low that I could barely take shower.

Worst staff ever”

Well, for a budget accommodation, I have no complain about it. The shared bathroom was a bit dirty without hot water and the shower was weak (with same money I had hot shower and clean, nice shared bathroom in Phnom Penh). But what made me hate this guesthouse was the staff here. They seemed friendly and helpful at the beginning and told me they could book a tuktuk with the best price so I agreed and deposited for them $15 for a $30 1-day tour. However, after that, I changed my plan and because I know it was short notice, I told them to give the tuktuk driver $5 for late cancellation and took back $10 in my money. And then they totally changed, told me they already gave the money to the tuktuk and cannot take it back. My fault to give them that money and told them to cancel late but what made me the most disappointed was their attitude, they ignored my request and even didn't try to talk to the tuktuk for me (for sure I know they have shared the money with each other). It was ripped off. Stay here, ok, but don't ask the staff to book transport to you!

everything was good except there is a lot of mosquitoes and people burning wood or rubbish dump that created a lot of smoke smell all over the building. cleanliness is just average but I think they can do better if they want to.

Good room, not so good staff ”

The stay was good. No complaints about the room ect. But when asking the staff for anything they were not helpful at all. We asked if we could book another night and they said they didn't know. So we booked somewhere else and then when we checked out they were mad we were leaving. The staff wasn't helpful at all with anything we asked about. And seems to not really care if we were haooy or not. Plus we booked a double and gave us two twins. Me and my wife were not happy to sleep in different beds. Other then that good clean conditions. Great AC and fan in the room.

You pay for what you get - this place was perfect for what we paid - clean, cheap and with all the basics.

Don't expect too much ”

It's very much and you get what it is worth. Clean room when I arrived, no cleaning during my 4 days stay whats bad in a dorm with lots of people every day. They have a 6 bed female dorm and a huge mixed dorm. 2 toilets incl. showers for everybody. Worst internet connection I ever had in Asia. No wifi in dorm rooms. Sheets could be a bit cleaner. Good towels are provided. Location is great. Close to pub street but quiet alley. They just built up the restaurant at the top so no food until now. And I think after restaurant at the rooftop also the dorm isn't as good anymore- or would you like to walk between restaurant guests to the bathroom in your pyjama and I think toilets will be very busy then and a lot of noise.
