good location link with tianjin underground shop and canal city shopping mall. nearby train station within 1min walk..had a 24hour drug store is super nearby suitable for ladies to shop. staff is friendly and kind on helped.
I prefer this way much better than hyatt...”
I visited Fukuoka twice within 3 months and Hakata Excel Hotel did leave me a super good impression. The location is supreb with a lot of shops and resaurant, and it's not far away from either Tenjin nor Hakata!! Walking distance, trust me on this. Staff are nice and the room is enough clean... I do wish the heater can do better cause I did feel a little bit cold at night... Love this place!
Toilet reeked of pee”
The room’s toilet wasn’t properly sanitized and cleaned. During our entire stay, it reeked of pee. Location was brilliant though. Lots of nice restaurants and it’s a 10-min walk to the Tenjin shopping area and less than 15-min to the Fukuoka airport by the subway.
If you'd like to Fukuoka, but you don't have much time, this hotel is for you. Just one thing is not satisfactory - there was no gym in the hotel. I couldn't find it. But you have a lot of walking schedule if you are traveling, so, just skip the exercise one or two days!
Never been staying in such bad service hotel”
Was arrived the hotel about 12.30pm and i traveling with young children which is falls sleep right after early morning flight from Osaka requested for early check in at 12.30pm, asking us to paid 8,000 Yen, and if check in at 1pm which is 1 early hour also asking to paid extra 4000 Yen. Never encounter this experience even 1 hour early than their standard check in time (2pm) also asking to paid extra 4000 YEN. CRAZY. Never had a great hospitalities sense towards a family traveling with young chidlren. NEVER EVER WILL COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL. And MOST IMPORTANT THINK IS OUR ROOM RATE WE PAID RM 1,000++ per night. If i got to know such quality i will rather paid same room rate fees to TOP & BRANDED 5 Start hotel instead of this bad service hotel.
I'll never go there again.”
So... Dirty and low quaility make-up room. I felt too much dust after make-up room. So, they didn't change cotton cover. They just sorted that stuff. It really unpleasent for our. I went twice this using.
Richard from Australia”
Great location close to good food, bars, transport & shopping.
nice hotel for the reasonable price.”
we couldn’t sleep for the strange sound from the ceiling. hotel changed our room but we had to go down to the 1st floor and go back to the floor exact where we stayed. they should’ve skipped unnecessary process especially at 4a.m. I think they need to be more flexible.
Location is great: right on Nakasu Island literally a 1 minute walk away from a subway station that is only 2 stops away from Hakata Station. Note that you cannot use JR for this subway - you would have to walk 20 minutes from Hakata Station (which is still great, since this is where you want to be, anyways). Rooms were fairly standard. With the exception of the bathroom being a little smelly, there was really nothing to complain about.
Nice and clean Triple room on 11/F ”
I read negative comments and photos before. However during my stay in the hotel, I found it is a tidy, nice and wonderful hotel situated in a good location which allowed a few minutes walk to the Subway. The bathroom of my hotel room is new and clean.
Very Good if you dont mind sleeping in a smaller bed ”
Very good value for money, I specifically asked for a room close to the elevator and indeed they have taken that into account. our room was moderately spacious, good size bath room/ water power, the only thing was the bed was fairly small, and I found some hair in the bathroom sink on our first night of stay. None the less the hotel location was good, and easily accessible to where we want to go. We stayed during the week days where most of the pubs where closed, though I would think twice if it was a weekend stay, and if you are traveling with family as I would not call it a ''children friendly zone'' overall a pleasant stay for me.
Really good location”
I love this hotel. I'll stay here again next time for sure. It's about 5 minutes away from the Nakasukawabata Subway. You can walk going to Tenjin. There are a lot of nice shops and restos near the hotel as well.
perfect location 완벽한 위치”
my room was so small so we could open luggages on the bed but it was cosy and clean in its own way the bathroom was also small but had everything that I needed including bathtub, amenities (only for women) above all the location was perfect! (near by Ichiran, Donquijote, bus stop and other famous restaurants)
Very good location and clean”
This hotel is very convenient. The breakfast can be selected between Japanese style (set menu) and Western Style (buffet), the taste is good. Despite some other commented that this hotel is located at red light district, which in fact, is at the very fringe of the red light district. No body ever disturbed or approached me at all even I was walking alone (a male) nearby.
Good location, efficient hotel and staff”
Hotel is well located and convenient. Faciliates typical of japanese hotel. however stay was marres by stuffy room as air con was weak. This is springtime. Was told that winter months air con is adjusted and advised to open window, which slide out at a limited angle.Staff brought in a fan. Upgrading room will not help cos air con is central. Overall, service and staff effoent and place is clean. Housekeepingvstadf warm and friendly. Facade and room furniture could be refreshed as it looked little old and worn.
Very Ideal Location for first timer in Fukuoka”
We stayed in this hotel for 2 days. Many people said that the hotel is located in the red light district, but this is not those rowdy scenes that we were expecting. The streets were very vibrant and robust at night, I supposed those were more like a street where people go for drinking. The location of the hotel is very accessible to many restaurants and street foods. Across the road we can find the infamous ramen shop and BBq beef restaurants. There is a family mart where you can get all your snacks. You can walk to Tenjin, the main shopping district, about 20 mins slow walking distance. The room is sizable and clean. There are some smoking smell in the room. We opened up the windows to air it and they were just fine after that. I strongly recommended first timers to stay in this hotel. You will never regret about it. We drove and we found a overnight parking for 1000 yen.
Good location for wining and dining”
Good for wining and dining as lots of bars and restaurants in the area. There is a 24 hrs shop behind the hotel but just within walking distance to the main shopping areas. Clean and comfortable. I did not eat in the hotel so food rating was given a 5.
Good Location and Good Facility”
Staff is friendly and good service mind when i'm check in. Hotel Room is big and facility is goos than other hotel. Hotel location is close to Subway Kuko Line Exit 1 (no escalator) just walk 3 minute but who have big luggage i prefer to use exit 4 (have escalator) Hotel close to Ichiran Ramen (Favorite Ramen of Hakata) & Donquijote Shop.
It's old hotel with great conditions. ”
Pros 1) Staff makes a change from a twins into two beds room. 2)You can been the subway station in 5mins . 3)一蘭 the original ramen is just opposite to the Hotel. 4)There's a building which has book store , supermarket and all you need in daily open til 4am in 5 mins walk. 5) You can enjoy free wifi in the room. Cons 1) It's a 20 mins walk to Hakata JR station, or ¥200each for the subway. This's you need to consider if you use JR via Hakata to other destinations.
Convenient location with subway station, restaurants and supermarket nearby. The hotel was a bit old and the bed sheets were not clean enough. Bed guard and a kit pack were provided to kid. Generally a great stay.
Overall is good. Room is big but no onsen facility.”
The hotel is value for money. The staff are friendly. The room is big and clean. Room facilities are good. The location is fair, a bit far from Hakata station (15 min walk). It is near the red-light district. No onsen or swimming facilities are provided. Overall, value for money.
Kids friendly hotel”
My family of 5 pax stayed for 1 night at the triple room. Decent room size, toilet & bathroom are separate which brings convenience. Room is clean and comfortable. We are very impressed that they have organized a little game to engage with the kids - a game card is provided which kids are asked to play ‘stone, scissors & paper’ with staff with a badge, which they could redeem snacks at the counter depending on their scores acquired. My daughter just loved it. Breakfast with 2 options in Japanese / buffet style as most restaurant in japan. Adequate options for breakfast as we picked the buffet style. Note to driver is the parking slot is not attached to the hotel, it would be around 2 mins drive to park the car at a charge of 1,600yen.
Breakfast- food variety is limited
The variety of food for breakfast is limited ”
The concierge staff is very helpful
There are all facilities provided and good location to find food and near the shopping places.
- Spacious and comfortable accommodation.
Nice Place in Hakata”
Very convenience with Yichilan Raman and Family Mart just around the corner.
Nice location, great view and very clean.
The location is great with vigorous night life in the neighborhood. Very convenient.”
The hotel staff is quite nice. We booked two nights and ended of staying one night only due to the flight delay. The hotel refunded us once we showed the certificate of flight delay.
Very closed to Subway station”
Location is excellent, very closed to subway and next to main street. Small room but very clean.
very good location”
very polite staff perfect location with 1 min walking to train or bus station many restaurant nearby
perfect for traveler”
Good location nearby convenience store and shopping mall, don quijote. and staffs are freindly and warm.
conveinet location and clean room
Especially close to Ramen(ichiran) restaurant and donkeyhote(drug store). And you can go every visit within 10 minutes by bus. Highly recommended. Thx
Highly recommend this hotel - convenient, clean and great location”
Great location, accessible to many shops, cafes and restaurants, only meters away from public transports (i.e. train station). Staffs are attentive, helpful and friendly.
Nicest staff and very convenient hotel”
Our one-night stay at Hakata Excel Tokyu Hotel was great. The staff was so nice and made everything to make our stay pleasant and comfortable, especially with our 2 y.o. daughter. Room is functional and location is prime. We would be back again!
We enjoyed the stay”
I booked Holleywood double becasue of the river view but unfortunately we had a city view. All hollywood do not have river view. The room was big for Japanese business hotel but the air was really dry.
poor service ”
We have made a request for late check out till 12:00 noon and was confirmed by a front desk male staff it was ok without addition charge. However, when we approached Front Office to check out at around 12:00 noon. A female staff requests us to pay late check out fee. It was very disappointing and we told her we have called and confirmed with a male staff earlier about our late check out request. She just replied we have to pay！Finally we paid as we don’t wanna ruin our trip but we will not choose to stay at the hotel again.
This place is bursting with colors”
We only found out 1 day upon arrival that this hotel is located inside a red light district but we were not bothered by it, in fact it added a lot of life into our stay. The bouncers wont' approach you & there's definitely no girls standing on the streets, it's a lot of boys/girls clubs & not to mention plenty of izakaya & restaurants. The Nakasu Yatai are 5mims walk away but beware it's expensive to fill your tummies there. 4 of us had 4 ramen, 2 plates of grilled beef & chicken each cost us SGD95! We went for the experience cos the standard wasn't amazing. Canal City is nearby but I prefer to take 2 stops by train to Hakata Station.
It was my second time staying in this hotel. The room was clean. The room for 3 adults was large and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. There are many resturants nearby. The price was reasonable. I highly recommend this hotel.
Good value for money.”
Very close to Nakasukawabata station, close to Yatai, 5 min walk to Canal City shopping centre and less than 10 min walk to Tenjin station. Not the best location if you are catching Shinkansen from Hakata station though. Clean and tidy. Liked everything except for the lack of fitness centre facility.
Excel hotel is one of the best hotels in japan”
location is very convenient close to riverside, easy to locate spacious room, with all good quality of facilities, toilet amenities just a little disappointing that the staff didnt let us book another night in the same price we booked online as we wanna stay another night there while the room wasnt booked by others
Location is great; just next to 一蘭拉麵if you like it. Staff are quite helpful especially the gentlemen in the hotel's parking lot - very friendly and helpful. Room is bigger than typical Japanese hotel rooms but I did expect it to be bigger indeed. WiFi wasn't very strong but not sure if it was because we stayed far end in the corridor.
Not as good as what's shown in pictures”
Yes the pictures show you nice grand look of this hotel. They actually have pretty spacious lobby. But I'm afraid that's about it. The rest of the facilities are quite normal old Japanese business hotel style. I will only come back again if I am on budget.
Convieniently located to walk around key attractions”
Being our first time in Fukuoka, the hotel was easy to reach from the airport via subway. Hidden away on the street that is by the river, the hotel is walking distance to both tenjin which has major department stores, and canal city. We used Fukuoka as a starting point to drive to different cities in kyushu. The room was big enough for the 3 of us. Nothing fancy but good enough
It is easy to move around & lots of restaurant within walking distance. Close to the airport & train/bus stations. Staffs are very nice, helpful & cheerful. The room is small if you have big luggages otherwise it is fine.
Dated hotel in a good location ”
Rooms were small, king size bed was 2 double pushed together but only with a bed sheet on the top so was not very comfortable. Mouldy smell in the bathroom. Hotel is located in red light district. Unfortunately we only found out when we arrived, otherwise would not have booked as we have 2 young children travelling together
Big family room”
Very near subway along the airport line. We were provided with a big deluxe room for 3 persons on top floor. Cannot ask for more though the room price is a bit more expensive as compared to other economy but small hotel.
SMALL room ”
Actually I had three nights in this hotel which I stayed in two different rooms. 1. Two single bed room is small for opening the luggage at the same time just because of the layout, , actually it could be having enough spacing. 2. I had double bed room for 2 nights which the room size is same but becoz of the bed, more spacing comes out for placing our luggage. This is really important for shopaholic to pack things up. Near railway station, one exit with escalator is just within one min walk distance. BUT one thing more, corridor looks extremely horrible which the EXIT sign at the end of the corridor shows up with green light in the dark. Just add more light at the end wouldn't be that hard, I believe.
nice location !!”
good location to travel! we walked all the times! though all the rooms in japan tend to be smaller than other counturies hotel room, it was comfortable to stay room condition it self was not to old for your reference
impressive stay and staffs ”
The room and location -- We went as a family of 3. So the room was quite packed for us a little bit - it is not small though! there is a sofa and big round table, so it take a few space up. The standard of the room was good and the location is not far from the subway and also in walkable range of attraction and food stalls. Food -- The food was nice and there are two rooms for food but we only tried out one, the buffet, the other one was japanese style. Staff performance -- was superb! I appreciated this the most as we lost our camera on the way to the hotel and the hotel called the airport for us to check if it has been found. They also help us find the hotel in different city for the next night. Overall impressive stay especially the staff performance lift up the whole period of stay.
Return to Fukuoka”
Apart from a little difficulty with understanding English v. well the staff at reception were helpful and friendly. The small double we had booked was the best sized room we have had at any other hotel in Fukuoka and v,clean. The room had tea/coffee making facilities and computer for our use. It is 4 stops on the Kuko line from the airport and is just around the corner from the nearest subway station. It is located close to Tenjin park on the edge of Hakata and a 10 min. walk from canal city and the Nishitetsu line in Tenjin which we needed to use regularly. ~We did not use the meal facilities. The location by the river is pleasant and the lobby, corridors, rooms and public areas are smart, clean and impressive the money we paid.
Central Fukuoka Hotel”
The room was an adequate size and was well positioned for walking but a bit difficult for driving. Hotels should warn customers that parking is in a mechanical garage so they can get all luggage organised. The room was too hot. The adjacent building was only 2 meters outside the window which made the room feel smaller.
Staff not willing to help, gave wrong information”
Staff were not willing to help when asking if they could help book restaurant. Also, giving wrong information when asking if there was any places for countdown on Dec 31, which caused us 3 hours of waiting for nothing
Welcome break by the canals ”
I enjoy staying here. Although it is a short ride by taxi or subway, it is a very restful location and hotel. Because it is right in front of the canals, it is easy to go for morning (or evening) walks along the water. The locatin isn't the best for shopping, but that is only a short walk away.
Pleased with my stay”
I had a semi-double room, which was spacious, well appointed, quiet, and comfortable. The location near the subway and historic part of town were convenient. Note, however, that being near the nightlife means that there are men's clubs (i.e. advertising girls), all around it.
Comfortable, Close to the river”
Very nice and comfortable hotel. Staffs were friendly. The hotel is located near the shopping street, shopping arcade, historical area, even red district. There is subway station nearby the hotel, which is very convenient to travel.
Awesome! Enjoyed our time on Kyshu. ”
Good. Warning! It's right next to a red light district. Host Boy clubs and gentleman clubs are right behind hotel and down the street. Generally we were left alone, although my niece was asked if she'd like a part time job. If you've never been to Japan or have never experienced this very unique part of their culture you may be in for a surprise!
We enjoyed the size and cleanliness of our room”
We were impressed with the staff and how they spoke english. There are some hotels in which the staff don't speak english and it gets difficult. The room was very large for 3 of us and very nice view of the city and canal. The hotel lobby was very classy looking.
good stay.. simple , small clean room”
decent room, decent normal bathroom cable tv is very very limited.....almost NO english channels. Seems almost like it should be a requirement for either BBC or CNN to be subscribed to by any hotel claiming to be "international" and posting online.
Great Location, close to transport and shops”
Only stayed overnight, but it was a great stay. Close to shops and transport and parks and good food. Easy access to airport. The staff was very helpful and some fluent in English. The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey, but very delicious with lots of selection. They even allowed my 12 year old daughter to use a piano to practice for playing at a wedding over the weekend. Wish our stay was longer! We would definitely recommend a stay at Hakata Excel Hotel Tokyu.
Not near but in the middle of nightlife”
It is literally 20 min from FKK airport by subway from a station less than 5 mins walk away. It is also right smack in the middle of the busiest nightlife (including all kind of dodgy businesses not for the family oriented) literally at its door step. Shooping is also literally at its door step. Asw in most things in Japan, everything is clean and works.
A great hotel”
Easy to access the subway station and can arrive airport in 15-minute. The hotel is surrounded by lot of good restaurants. Hotel staff is attentive and polite. They finally reserve a non-smoking room for us upon request. Will stay there again for our next visit.
Clean, comfortable hotel”
Hotel was just 2 minutes' walk to Nakasukawabata subway station (Exit 1). A 10-minute walk will bring you to the shopping area around Tenjin station. The area around the hotel was lively at night. Taxi from hotel to Fukuoka international airport terminal was about 15 to 20 minutes and cost about 2000 yen. Overall a very pleasant stay in this clean and comfortable hotel.
Very Comfortable welcoing hotel”
I really enjoyed my first stay at Hakata Excel Hotel. I had a 'superior' room that was positively luxurious. It looked out over the river with big windows that opened. The room itself was large and spatious. I would definitely stay there again
The staffs are friendly and considerate!”
We were a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) booked a room with three single beds for one night. The hotel offered us two rooms with two single beds without any additional charges as they believed that the 3-bed room would be too small for us! They were really considerate! The location of the hotel is good. Just a ten mins walk to the Canal City. The room were clean.
Perfect stay in the world's ramen capital”
Good place to stay. There is a very good ramen restaurant opposite of the hotel called Ichiran Ramen. This is one of the best if not the best ramen I have tasted and I have tried a lot in Japan. Walking distance to Tenjin area, canal city and roadside stalls.
Comfortable. Friendly Staff.”
It was a fantastic experience with the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful although English is limited. Hotel is close to lots of restaurant and a 24 hour supermarket. The room is bigger than I thought and the washroom was clean and big. I will definitely stay here again!!
Easily found from the Nakasukawabata station (exit 1), head towards the river and its your first left. The hotel was fantastic, staff spoke great English and were always smiling. The ramen restaurant across the road (2F) is worth a visit!!
