helpful and professional staff”
at the time we stayed in the hotel, part of the highway from takayama to nagoya was blocked due to heavy rain in west japan the week earlier. we were lucky to meet one Malaysian staff in the hotel that can speak Cantonese while we checked in. She and other Japanese staff explained to us in details how to drive back to Nagoya and we were able to go back safely the next day. rooms are spacious and location is good, with free parking.
Nice hotel to stay”
Near Takayama station, within walking distance. Nice place to stay, well renovated
everything is ok but no have breakfast incl. room”
breakfast is Y1,650++ per day per person. Room is quite expensive so it should be incl. breakfast with room. Other is ok. The distance between hotel to JR station around 500-700 metres. 7&11 around 400 metres from hotel. The front of hotel is Pachingo and slot.
Conveniently located and comfortable ”
Hotel staff was helpful and the onsen especially the roof top baths with good view of Takayama city were worth staying here for. Close to both Takayama train station and Nohi bus terminal, it was very easy to get around to visit other towns like Gero, Shirakawago.
Clean and good size”
Good enough for a couple to stay in this room. Clean but just that the heating too warm at time.
Clean and good size”
The room is good size , not too small. Good breakfast and clean
Nice Onsen hotel ”
Near train station and room is big for Japan Hotel. The room is nice.
Wonderful experience ”
Walking distance to train station and morning market, traditional houses. Booked standard twin but upgraded to deluxe twin. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Great onsen on 8th and 9th floor.
The staff is very helpful and familiar with the area. Thanks
Good location as it is near the station (around 7-10mins walk). There is no air conditioner in the room, only heater. It is quite hot in the room and we called the front desk asking about how to operate the air cond but he said no air cond in the hotel, only heater. So he suggested us to open the curtain instead. My kids couldnt sleep well as it is no air cond. Cleanliness is also bad, they did not vacum clean the room. When we got back to our room at afternoon, we found out the staff did not flush the toilet. Staff is also not fluently english spoken and we ask for late check out for 30 mins due to my kids’ stomachache but they insisted to charge us money. This never happened in my experience with other hotels in Japan.
Location is perfect for traveling and the staff is very friendly and helpful, clean.
Clean and a good customer service”
Rooms are clean, comfortable and have great customer service
Good facilities and sumptuous Japanese buffet”
Love the morning Japanese buffet and a hotel with all facilities. Clean and good size for a family
Will be good if there private onsen
Overall is ok.
Nice view, nearly the station
Out of the five previous hotels that we stayed for our trip, it was the best. We really enjoyed it. ”
My kids liked the tatami style beds and the room was really spacious. The service was really good and the staff was very friendly. They also had staff who could converse in mandarin, which made things more convenient for us. The onsen was very good and comfortable.
We booked a room for 3 adults and a kid in Japanese and Western beddings. The room is so big and comfortable. Location is convenient, just a few minutes walk to JR station. There are many restaurant surrouding the hotel. One thing we are not happy was that they put us to a smoking floor which we requested a non smoking floor.
Good option in a town with limited hotels”
Takayama unfortunately does not have too many good hotels. Lots of ryokan and guest houses, but for a good western-style hotel in town, then so far the Hida Plaza gets my vote. (I've worked my way through most of them - avoiding the super tiny rooms of the business hotel chains.) Decor is a bit dated and the breakfast buffet could use some work, but the rooms are comfortable (windows that open), and the rooms I booked my travelling group (western/Japanese style) although much more expensive than a basic twin or double, they liked. Would I stay here again? Yes. For my business I have another eight bookings for autumn.
Hotel is within walking distance from JR station. Good hotel, clean, friendly, good public bath. Enjoyable stay in a town with many places of interests and shops. The japanese restaurant in the hotel is reasonably priced, better than dining at other restaurants in takayama town. Reservation is recommended to avoid disappointment.
For the amount that I am paying, it's not worth it. Firstly, the bathroom is small and squeezy. The water doesn't flow out smoothly from the toilet bowl, basin and shower and caused us some inconvenience. Maintenanance staff got to check out the problem and hold us some time. Secondly, the room is stuffy as they don't have air conditioning in the winter time which we need to rely on the natural cold air from the window. I don't get to sleep well given the poor ventilation. The room looked old and seems to need some refurbishment. Other than polite staff and good location, I don't have good experience in this stay. I will not return to this hotel if I am visiting takayama the next time.
Utilitarian but nice”
Everything was very very nice - big room, comfortable bed. Very Japanese, not a lot of western tourists but that's not a bad thing. Food and service at the hotel restaurant was good. Easy walking distance to the bus/train station for visits onward to Shirakawago and back to the Shinkansen, and easy to walk to the town's 'main drag' if you can call it that. Overall a very pleasant stay.
Comfy stay at hida plaza hotel”
Comfortable. My room's temperature was ok. But my children's room was stuffy and the room temperature could not be adjusted. Room felt warm despite keeping the window open - in End December. However, my room next door was ok
Relaxing Onsens after a days walking”
About 500m from the JR station/ bus station and on the same street, it is easy find. It's a modern hotel with the main block 9 stories high. There are Onsens on the 9th floor and roof and in the basement. These are an excellent way to relax after a day exploring. You can buy a bus pass for two days travel into the Alps and this allows travel as far as the famous rope way cable car which is definitely worth a visit. Takayama way quiet when we were there in October but that may be because it is out of season, after summer and before the winter skiing starts. Lots of places to explore to eat out and well marked walking routes around the city.
Convenient and confortable”
Once you've gotten over the dated room decor, and old beds, the room is rather comfortable. There are ample clean towels, Samues, and the usual accouterments of a good hotel. The best part of our experience is the hot baths. Particular the roof top ones. The room is serviced early daily.
Great hotel, great room”
We got the Japanese style room and it was really spacious. It has separate toilet and bathroom and everything is clean and tidy. The hotel is close to train and bus station, as a result it is a bit further from the main town area. Shops in Takayama close quite early , but the hotel has a few restaurants that open until late and are reasonably priced. They also have shops selling souvenirs and snacks, also reasonably priced. We also enjoyed the free spa, gym and swimming pool
Spacious & clean rooms”
The room was very spacious & got rooftop bathhouse to relax after long day trip to Takayama. Staf were friendly & informative. Just ask whatever you need to know. Places to go, places to eat, etc..
Great place to stay ”
I love everything about the hotel, including the facilities, hospitality
Good location but old building ”
It’s good location nearby takayama Jr station. But the facilities of hotel is quite old.
This hotel was awesome. The best onsen hotel I ever been.
Near takayama station”
We stayed only for 1 night in traditional japanesse room. Old and big hotel but still well maintain. Breakfast have large choices.
better than many hotels there..
Near Bus station”
Location is good, spa is good. Nothing to complain about.
Nice hotel and Good location”
I love this hotel such a great experience
Near train station. Very convenient.
Convenient Hotel near JR”
Convenient Hotel near JR. The hotel is a bit old style.
Staff was very helpful and the onsen & jacuzzi facilities are great! We managed to rent bicycles from the hotel to cycle around the city
Convenience n good value.
Comfortable and clean hotel”
Good, except room temperature is hot despite turning on air-con
Great service as well as Onsen”
Good and very relexing.”
Stayed 4 nights in this hotel, room was big with mountain view and staff members were very helpful.
Clean, spacious and comfy ”
Everything is of satisfactory. From clean and spacious room to personal onsen on the deck. Souvenirs selling in the hotel are tax free and almost cheapest we could find in Takayama..
Onsen bath is not real. It is only a hot water pool with chlorine gas. Besides that, everything is alright. I like the fish pond near the lobby very much, especially, it is good for photo taking.
Close Station plus in easy walking distance to old town.
Poor front office service”
The front office manager is very rude due to we check out late and force us to paid extra 2500 yen . It's not the money problem, but the attitude of the manager. she's not showing us the professionalism and refused to negotiate on this matter. I'm really disappointed on her unfriendly attitude.
it was good however the room temperature is centrally controlled which means if its too hot then have to open the windows.
Hotel is located in location is easy to get many good restaurants. But it is quite high price.
My room need of renovation ”
Facilities excellent good restaurant choices. Full of tour groups
Clean hotel, good location with free parking. Good spread of breakfast. Walking distance to the river side where all the shops are.
Spacious room and Clean. Love it”
