Awful; really, really bad”
The staff were surprisingly helpful, given the bad reputation of Beijing hotels, but I found them pleasant and friendly. The location was excellent, right in the centre and walkable distance to the forbidden city and shops. Unfortunately, the hotel should have been torn down decades ago. The room was not only poorly ventilated and badly lit, but also encrusted with the grime of a thousand travelers, and outfitted with furniture and fixtures of 10 years ago. The bathroom (no running water, although this was rapidly fixed by the friendly staff), had wooden slat floors over concrete with standing stagnant water, in which mosquitoes were living. I spent the night being bitten, disturbed by noise through the paper thin walls, and troubled by disturbing smells. To put this hotel in perspective, I went on to visit where the hotels were comparatively new and more comfortable. The best I can say is that it is cheap and centrally located, but there is no way that this hotel should have passed the minimum health and safety examinations. In fact, I would declare it unfit for human habitation and demolish it immediately.
I selected this hotel because of the location. I know this is not a great hotel but I never expected it to be so bad. Maybe the management needs to be trained to understand what is a hotel. The water pressure of the shower and tap is so low that it is difficult to have a good bath or washing. The first room given to us was without a toilet and when I inquire about it ... the answer is that the door has been damaged and has been sent for repairs. When we insisted to have a room with a toilet door we were given another room which is just next to the stair case. If we open curtain over the ventilation openings people walking up/down the stair will be able to see right into our room. We cannot close the ventilation openings or cover them with the curtains because there is no ventilation system in the room due to the starting of the cool season. The air conditioning system was intentionally turned off. I will not stay at this hotel again.
Great location but everything else is bad”
It was really a bad experience to stay at this hotel!!! First of all, it is not easy to find the hotel, since the name of this hotel is different from the one showing in agoda. The staff hardly speaks English. He reason why I chose to stay in his hotel was the free wifi and the location but it is hard to believe they don't even know wifi!!! In the profile they claim that we can check in as early as 7.00 am but I heckled in at 11.00 am they still have to clean the room.!! I really don't want to recommend to anyone and in fact agoda should remove them from its list as well.
This hotel lacks the amenities usually founded in this class of hotel : no free water bottle, no free tea bag, no internet available, no business center, no breakfast and even no chair in the reception hall for waiting a taxi... More, the hotel was in repair while we stayed there and that lead to some noise, even lately in the evening. The only favorable points that we have noticed is the english spoking of some staff, the efficiency of the travel office in the reception hall and the situation, close from the shopping center and the forbidden city. But, in overall, there are best value hotel in the same price in this area.
Great place to crash out in”
I booked this hotel because of the location and I wasn't disappointed in that respect. The night food market is literally outside the front door, and you can walk to the Forbidden City and Tianemann Square in just a few minutes. There were a lot of things I didn't like about the place, I won't bother listing them all but let's just say the bed was uncomfortable, and the room was cold and lacking maintenance. The only English the staff spoke was "Deposit 200RMB"!
the hotel was new and rooms were good size. The staff friendly and helpfull. A good location if you have a flight the next day. Far to go shopping and the downtown areas, Traffic would be backed up if you took a taxi between the hours of 4:00 and 8:30. The restaurant was new and had a great menu had a nice bar and friendly staff, I would def. stay here again in the future. Thanks for a nice stay.
Huafu is not the really name. Got lost finding the hotel. Really name is Wan Chang Hotel. A police / traffic enforcer had to guide us to the hotel location. Heavy construction inside hotel which any guest has to be informed. They also use the guest elevator to haul contrusction materials in which guest have to take the stairs. Also witnessed a hotel staff or officer was in a shouting match w/ a local chinese guest at the lobby. Not a hotel friendly place. Pictures in ads looks better than real.
Find something better”
Just find something better. Internet is bad. Staff speak no English. Hard to communicate. Room old and smell due mostly to old carpet. Best feature of this hotel is location. ...in the middle of Beijing!
Nice hotel and located in the strategic location”
The hotel is located in the strategic location. It is easy to find the food and near to public transport.

I'm satisfy and have great time”
The hotel is located in the center of hustle. It is easy to find the food and public transport. The access to the hotel is very easy. It close to shopping area.
Hotel should provide information on central air conditioning shut down during winter season. ”
It will be nice that hotel provide information to all oversea guests that central air conditioning in all hotels in China, irrespective of 3 stars or 5 stars, north of Yangtze river will shut down during winter months from mid Nov till early April. Our room was stale and stuffy and we should have booked rooms with windows instead of no window.
Staff were not helpful. Room look old & strong smell of smoking.”
Highly not recommand to my friend. Staff were not helpful & always provide negative answers to requests. Eg room air cond was switch off thus room was very stuffy & smell of residure cooking oil as the room was just next to a large kitchen exhaust fan/duct. Room allocated to us was at far end of bldg & on a elevated floor after you pull our luggage from main door way, a distance of 115 steps x 2.5ft, we had to hand carry our luggage up 5 steps.
In general accommodation was not well maintained, the room and bathroom were very dirty. They should wash the room properly. It is just ugly. The room smells bad too! Some of the furniture are actually broken. Staffs - Staffs are relatively not so rude compare with other people you meet on the street. But their services are just bad, not efficient, no patience like they will rush you in the check in process, could not communicate in English.
this hotel has excellent location”
I think the hotel is Okay for this price,I love the location- so close to public transportation ( city bus, metro train and taxi). And, in front of the hotel has half mile long of all kind of Chinese food from all over the country and it is within 20 minutes of walking distance to the famous WANG FU JING shopping district. And, very close to the great TIAN AN MENG SQUARE and all the historic sites.
Great Location, terrible room”
the hotel room was horrible! i can't speak for any of the other rooms, but the room i got wasn't impressive. the light wood floor had been badly scuffed/scratched. the bed was all spring and no foam. most of the staff did not speak english, and the one lady that did, could barely be understood.
Great location but very dirty”
Rooms were cheap and location was pretty good for sightseeing and shopping. The room was very dirty and staff was ok. We requested a taxi and paid twice the normal rate because they said taxis would not be available in the morning. This was not true and we paid more than the going rate.
Best part was the restaurant next door”
We booked on line from our home in Shanghai one for it's location and two for the detailed pictures on the web page but let me tell you looks can and are deceiving. The room we booked was a deluxe with views and when we arrived we got a small room with two single beds. 40 minutes later we were given a room with a queen bed including all the left over building rubble which was left under the carpet. Again I complained and was told that they had no more rooms. Then there was the bed for our daughter who is 21 months and bear in mind the web page clearly states children under 2 stay FREE. Well what a joke, they had no bed for our daughter and could only supply a fold away bed at a cost of 500 RMB. By this time enough was enough and we tried to cancel but because we booked on line we could not get our money back.
