Good Sri Lankan meals”

The room provided was not as per the booking. It was totally dark, depressing room with plumbing problems in toilet.. Sorry to say this, but if you advertise in the net..it should be. Up to the standard..it was an old house converted to a hotel..nothing like how it was published in the net..

Great stay”

We had booked two nights but extended our stay to three since we liked this place so much. Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially manager Nigel who seemed to be able to find a solution to any problem or question we had! Location is a bit far from the center but I'd count it positive since Kandy is quite noisy and polluted city. They have their own tuk-tuk as well. The view is great - it's definitely worth to spend some extra for a bigger room with balcony. House itself is very nice, it has not been planned as a hotel but a private house and a restaurant, so all the rooms are unique and there are large common areas on every floor. Breakfast was huge and delicious, and it was specially nice that we could have both western and Sri Lankan breakfast items at the same time, on other places we had to choose one or the other instead of mixing. Also the dinner was delicious. Wifi was excellend, bathrooms were large and there was plenty of hot water and good shower pressure. We warmly recommend this hotel!

TRIP TO KANDYAN CROWN”

ABSOLUTELY OUT OF TOWN. DON'T GO THERE IF YOU THINK YOU CAN WALK THERE. PERCHED ON HILLY WINDING VERY VERY STEEP ROAD. DUSTY ROOMS. NO HOT WATER IN TAP ONLY IN SHOWER. BLOCKED OUTLET. CAN BE A SUPERB HOTEL IF SPRUCED UP WITH PROPER SIGNAGE. PHONE NUMBER TAKES YOU TO THE OWNER AND NOT TO HOTEL RECEPTION. AND HE CANT GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS TO THE PLACE!!!

Didn't meet expectations”

this place was okay...wouldn't say great...there is no lift to your rooms, manager didn't really help with lifting luggage up, breakfast was pretty poor- just eggs and sausages, fruits, room wasn't entirely clean still a few hairs and no curtain on shower so water will go on the floor, one of our bed sheets smelt slightly, noise from the kitchen can be heard in the morning, distance to town is annoying, no driver accommodation, an expensive for what it was during the perahera period...yea i'd look elsewhere closer to town. nice view though from the balcony during breakfast.

We booked 4 nights at the Kandyan Crown based on the good reviews. All I can say is that what previous reviewers appreciate in holiday accommodation clearly differs to what we look for. This place is clean but basic in the extreme. We managed one night and then shipped out.

Escape the city chaos ”

I was treated like royalty! The manager Nigel was absolutely lovely and catered to our every whim . I was sick and the manager Nigel and was very helpful. He was very attentive and we were presented with varieties of food (the fried rice is amazing!!). The views are absolutely breathtaking and I would recommend this place to ANYONE. Truly is an amazing place to stay.

The best place to stay in Sri Lanka”

I totally recommend this beautiful Hotel in the Hills of Kandy! I stayed here with my girlfriend for one night, we were completely impressed by the view and the extremely nice and helpful staff and had to come back again two days later. I have never been to a hotel/hostel with this sympathetic and funny employees. They even offered us a bigger television so we could watch the Soccer Worldcup during night and helped us treat small injuries we got on the way. The rooms are really big and clean, the food is good (great cook) and the prices are very reasonable. So if you come to Kandy, you have to visit the Kandyan Crown Hotel! Kandy is the perfect base for traveling to Sri Lankas most important sightseeing spots (Sigiriya etc.). The view is terrific, especially by night and the air is clean up here. We were very happy and would come again any time!

quiet out of town location..great staff”

We loved it..short 300 rupee tuktuks to town....close enough to everything but set on hillside so quiet and great views. Small( 8 rooms?)

Warm staff, great food, underwhelming rooms”

While the superior room has a brilliant view of Kandy, the two standard rooms we stayed in have no view. The windows open out to walls.... That is quite a disappointment, and the hotel should try and fix this somehow, make some holes in those walls at least! Other than that, the hotel is very good. Staff, food, hotel lobby, everything is top notch. Special shoutout to Nigel who took great care of us.

An oasis of calm in a busy city”

The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was very good and the staff were keen for us to enjoy a Sri Lankan experience. The view from the hotel was stunning. They had a tuk tuk which was very reasonably priced and at our disposal for trips out.

Keine 2 Sterne!”

Wir sind nach einer Nacht wieder abgereist, da das Zimmer absolut nicht ok war. Sauber, aber alles andere... Wir hätten nach langer Diskussion mit dem Geschäftsführer (oder Inhaber?) für einen Aufpreis von 20 US$ je Nacht ein besseres Zimmer direkt neben dem Frühstücksraum bekommen, wenn wir doch beide Nächte geblieben wären - was wir dann auch nicht mehr wollten. Die Zimmer haben über den Türen ein offenes Gitter, wodurch jedes!!! Geräusch von außen und innen zu hören ist.

Situé sur les hauteurs de la ville...”

Un peu éloigné du centre historique. Pas grand chose à voir dans le quartier mais en quelques minutes en tuk tuk on arrive dans le centre. La vue de notre chambre était très belle, c'est l'avantage d'être sur les hauteurs de Kandy. Cependant, cette même chambre était mitoyenne à la cuisine donc très tôt le matin on entendait les casseroles etc... le petit déjeuner était très copieux et bien présenté.
