Booked a palace suite for 4500.. they are not as expected!
Dont bother staying”
Bad experience. Poor air conditioning, bad cleanliness, poor staff attitude. Can't reach the place on taxi, need to drag luggage 10mins walk to hotel drop off point.
Karohi Haveli is on a nice location near Lake Pichola and is very close to the Palace and Jagdish Mandir and other sight seeing spots near the lake. The Hotel itself is a very old property which has been part renovated and has charming courtyard.. Corridors are decorated with old pictures and give antique like feel.. Hotel has a small parking lot too which is an advantage considering that many other similar hotels nearby don't seem to have that facility. Google maps shows route to the back side entrance of the hotel which was in a narrow street and our vehicle got stuck.. not sure if the Hotel can get this rectified. We had taken 4 rooms and each room had a different decor - tastefully done.. One room had no cupboard for hanging our clothes while others had a cupboard like arrangement. Hotel manager Kalyan Singh is very amiable and helpful and the staff are quite friendly and courteous. Bfast options are limited but whatever was served was very tasty and fresh.
Very much overpriced”
This is not really such a nice place as they try to make you think it is. Price and pictures tells another story than reality. Some of the front desk staff needs to take a course in hospitality. Not friendly towards rude. Other staff were decent, but some again were ignorant, inefficient and not very proper. The building is partly a construction site. Wifi was very weak or not working at all in the room. Stayed in december and room was very cold. Hot water in the shower not reliable, first night staff said just wait, it will come, but waiting did not help. Bad smell of sewege in bathroom. Pool far to cold to be used and water a bit murky. Buffet breakfast was far too expensive for what was offered, in comparison to other better hotels I have stayed in India. Generally the place is hugely overpriced for the standard and service provided. But it looks nice in pictures. Stayed 3 nights but if I had not prepaid I would have changed after first night. The location is good but choose another
Rundown property. Avoid it at all costs.”
The hotel is not nice at all, especially for rates they charge. Booked as a luxury room in nice place, in real life it's a kind of cheap room in very tired haveli. They earn money, but do not spend a cent to support and improve the hotel. Everything looks dirty and not cleaned. Most expensive Royal suite we booked have no A/C in bedroom! Forced to downgrade.... shower is a kind of joke, refrigerator is a smelly hole, a/c is old, noisy and half-working. Restaurant is closed. You can't even get a morning coffee from this "luxury boutique hotel". Swimming pool with water you don't want to swim. Manager was not cooperative. The only good thing is a view. If you really want luxury stay, avoid Karohi at all costs!!!
Great location but poor scores on everything else”
We were in Udaipur during a hot & muggy summer with temps in the mid 40s (Celsius). Airconditioning wouldn't work in the first room we were given, and then the geyser wouldn't work in the room we were moved to. No breakfast offered. Pool was dirty and not fit to swim in, when in fact this by itself would have made up for the poor service... and was a principal reason we had booked here rather than anywhere else. A 10 a.m. checkout and poor staff attitude (despite having an empty hotel during lean season) capped our negative impression of this place. Wouldn't return despite its great location on/near Hanuman Ghat.
Lovely hotel in a lovely city”
This hotel is close to the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the lake. Our room was a third floor corner room with great views of the lake. Staff was accommodating. Courtyard was relaxing. The one issue we had was using the outlets as the plugs kept falling out. Hot water was fine as our room had a switch to turn on with hot water 10 minutes later. Would recommend it.
Food was worst and staff cooperation experience bad. Also I was given suit room but not preferred. ”
View was excellent from room but what we pay wasn't gave such pleasure. No safety for children.
Best location for 3 stars hotel”
The exterior of hotel is superb and good maintain for keep neat and clean above average india hotel standard in same level.however interior room is different.its only basic for room decorative. Even bath room is ok.that why they humble themself for 2 stars hotel. Weakness point them is WIFI. if you are internet addict then please skip.they also provided 2 spots but both are so weak for around area and if you connected.unfortunately its not works! Second to knows, their additional charges for breakfast is 300 Rs.
Haveli mein hum”
The hotel was a comfortable bed and with the right choice of room, one can get a view of the city palace and the wonderful lake Pichola. The interiors have various artefacts that takes one back in time and is well thought out. The rooms are pretty decently deocrated with bare minimum facilities. There is free WiFi available but coverage is pretty poor; i never got lacthed on to either ofthe 2 avaialble routers at any point of time in my stay. The approach to the Haveli is through narrow lanes and gullies and one needs to be extremly cautious if comign in a personal transport that is bigger than a C segment car. The food was not all that great, the restaurant has a beautiful roof top location. We enjoyed the view of the palace and the lake more than the food itself. Overall, a decent stay, if you are not looking for too much of a luxury accomodation
Heritage Experience with modern amenities”
Beautiful place, great lakes views”
The Karohi Haveli was a really nice stay. It's location is really good in Udaipur, centrally located and within a walking distance to main attractions, also with nice views to the lake. The hotel has an interesting architecture which looks even better at night, and the roof top provides great opportunities for photos. Regarding the food, although a bit pricey it was really good, I enjoyed the curries and naan very much. The only thing that I would improve from the services was the laundry, I sent some clothes for laundering and compared to other places it was expensive and the clothes were not ironed (or properly folded) ironing is an extra charge. Overall it was a great experience, friendly and helpful staff so if I go back to Udaipur I'd definitively go back there
lovely stay late feb”
very cold pool in febuary but otherwise a lovely stay. Hanuman ghat a little away from main tourist area but has a friendly atmosphere and only a short walk over bridge away.
Karohi Haveli a delight”
The Agoda booking was handled very efficiently. The Karohi Haveli reception was good, and the staff made necessary adjustments to the room promptly and efficiently. Although we arrived late we were able to dine on the rooftop and see the city lights below (an excellent introduction to Udaipur). The food was OK, but not really up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel, where the lovely décor, peaceful yet central setting, charming staff and refreshing pool made for a special stay.
Lovely place to stay!”
excellent just a more powerfull Wi-Fi hub would make it unbeatable
We decided to splurge a bit for a romantic hotel in Udaipur and so glad that we did! Got a great deal at Karohi on Agoda for the Palace Suite - stunning room with gorgeous views of the lake. The staff were impeccable - lovely and courteous but not interfering. Pool was beautiful, we enjoyed a couple of mornings hanging out in the sun. We ordered room service for breakfast each morning which was all western fare (toast and omelettes etc), all fine but nothing special. Would probably suggest Karohi add an Indian breakfast option to their menu, as the local food is where they shine! We had our last dinner in Udaipur up on the hotel's rooftop restaurant and it was delicious!!! Not to mention the spectacular views. We kicked ourselves for not eating there every night. Great location just over the lake from the main tourist area, slightly away from most of the hassle but still within an easy walk of the main sights. Another bonus is that it is next door to Millets of Mewar - a lovely restaurant with healthier takes on Indian dishes. Extremely happy with our stay!
This hotel is not for Asian people”
I don't like this hotel personally. It is for the Europeans who are first time to India. They have Indian decoration but not modern facilities. Hot water system and a/c system are there, but old. Internet is slow, sometimes does not work. Take care, they have the rooms on grand floor, nothing from your window.
good relaxing experience”
it was good, staff was courteous and was well maintained. Spa services can be bettered.
