Pleasant beach side bungalows”

Simple fan bungalows. Perfect for relaxing time just lazing in hammock. Beach out front is rocky but is only short stroll to better section of beach. Located down dirt road off main road. Tropical downpours on two of the three nights meant the creek flooded the central garden area but drains relatively quickly if still pretty soggy underfoot, but all part of the experience. Food in restaurant is very good. Fairly quiet in Koh Lanta at the moment but still a few bars with music and enough restaurants nearby.

Great place except for Saturday nights.”

Marina is what I class as a superior budget resort at the far southern end of Long Beach (Ao Phrae). It has attractive traditional Andaman sea gypsy style bungalows in a nice lawn/garden setting. Our sea view shack was spacious with a firm but not unbearable king sized bed, a good mozzie net, plenty of hanging space, a quiet fan with a true low speed setting, wi-fi, an okay bathroom with hot water (a bit low-flow), towels and toilet tissue supplied. A nice spacious patio (note many of the sea view places are set back from beachfront with a limited sea view but this can be an advantage on Saturday nights) with hammock. Staff members were very friendly and efficient. The sea view restaurant had nice food and drinks towards the lower end of budget bungalow restaurant prices. The restaurant and adjacent sitting cabana were good places to watch the sun set over the sea. I have one major caveat. Adjacent Korner Bar has managed to secure the Saturday night location for the all-island party (this seems to rotate nightly to other venues). As a result there is extremely loud music until 3am and a racket from departing hyped-up ragers and motorcyles until 5am. The access lane to the bar runs directly behind Marina’s southern line of bungalows including ours. We heard no loud music on the Thursday and Friday nights although there was some very late motorcycle traffic noise, bearable to us. So if your stay includes Saturday night you might ask for a bungalow up the back of the resort, or better, a garden bungalow on the far northern side. But frankly, the average person will be disturbed by the noise all over the southern quarter of the very long Long Beach. On the other hand, if you are a party animal this would be just the place

Low season low hospitality ”

I have been recommended to this ‘resort’ by all the good reviews I have read. But when I arrived it was everything but. The lady from the reception was friendly yes, or perhaps a bit over friendly to blind us by what we had waiting. I had booked this place because of the convenience of a bar/restaurant on the beachfront.... which wasn’t running at the time due to everything being renovated. She wouldn’t even drop the price of the the room seeing we paid for breakfast included but couldn’t have any. I could imagine it being a good stay during high season, but they should have stayed that they were under construction. Had a massive fire burning right outside our room with the stink smoke blowing around. No lights to see where you walk in the dark and covered in trash. And even when I got there I had to ask them to fix my lights, fridge and toilet seat(which was like something out of a horror movie) everything was broken here and they made us pay in full. Damn

Heaven, but not for 'all-inclusive' travellers ”

I have been visiting Koh Lanta for about 4 years now, and Lanta Marina is one of my nicest stays! I wasn't overly familiar with the Phra Ae Beach before, but its a perfect little nook as it turns out, right next to Long Beach, with a view onto it, but more private and with charisma. The bungalows are good, though basic. Depending on your comfort level with nature, its right there in the middle - it has only the basic amenities, like a fan and a fridge, shower room is half open, but everything is clean and neat, it has a camper village feel, rather than some bungalows that I've stayed at which were tucked away behind some agricultural warehouse type of buildings, surrounded by rubbish. This resort is well looked after, yet natural. The best part is the bar/diner, and its owner Mod, with his family. They are very friendly and welcoming, very attentive, they serve reasonably priced good local food, and Mod is good on his numerous iPods, playing carefully selected music, tailored to suit the crowd currently in the bar. I initially booked it for 5 days as my place to arrive to, but I ended up extending it for the whole stay, for a full month. Be aware of Saturday nights though as the Korner Bar next to Marina is playing party music until late. If you're overly sensitive to it, ask for a bungalow further away from the beach, they are all the same, so makes no difference really. I will definitely go back there when visiting next time!

Perfect Chill-Out Place with Great Staff”

We, a group of four friends, stayed in two bungalows for three days at the Marina. Place is situated at the Southern part of Long Beach, swimming directly in front of the hotel is not possible due to stony beach, but a few minutes walk north will take you to a perfect place. Bungalows are very basic, but clean and cozy; the ones closer to the beach have the better view but are close to the bar which may be very noisy at night. The only drawbacks are that the houses are not very soundproof, but it also gives you the impression of sleeping in the middle of nature. Staff at the Marinas is amazing, especially at the front desk. Very helpful at all times, organizes great tours and gives advice. Cares about guests a lot. Food is basic but very good, the dining area has a direct ocean view, Ray and Em will mix the most delicious fruit shakes for you, make sure you try them, we couldn`t get enough. All in all Marina Lanta offers great value for little money, we would definitely come again. Two thumbs up.

Simple and serene. ”

Great for rest and relaxation. My wife and I stayed here during the off-season and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The staff was great to deal with and our hut was just steps from the southern end of Long Beach. If you have a problem with bugs and their noises, this is probably not for you.

Comfortable and well located”

Because of the Saturday Night Insomnia Beach Party next door, we were relocated to a bungalow further up the road. This was fine, but we were happy to go back to Lantana Marina. Lovely bungalow, views of the beach, very quiet.

Great staff, great food and amazing beach bungalow”

The bungalow standard is the best we had in Thailand (we went for the bamboo ones). It is big, a proper bed (not on the floor), a great balcony with a hammock and it also has a big table to put your bags on, plus a railing to hang your clothes. The bathroom is nice and big too. The staff are all amazing, attentive and nice, in both reception and the restaurant. The restaurant is really good, very good value for money and great tasting food! Try the spring rolls! To sit in the evening, have some tasty thai food and a cold beer right by the beach is amazing. The only downside is the beach is rocky, you have to walk for about 15 minutes to get to the main beach.

Fantastic little bungalow!”

The Bungalow was the most amazing bungalow we had stayed in during our 6 month trip. Super Quirky, felt like one with nature with the sea at your doorstep. Clean. Staff were lovely and restaurant on site was good good priced food. I'd recommend Lanta Marina for the experience of staying in such a unique bungalow.

Close to the nature”

It was really nice. The bungalows have now glass in the windows and it is a little bit noisy. You can hear the night noise from outside which is really loud. You can see the ocean and the bungalows are direct on the beach. The water is flat and really good for snorkelling.

Relaxing spot with friendly staff”

Mosquito nets around comfortable, clean beds provide a nice sleep. If you don't like the chance of intermixing with the local insects, this place may not be for you. However, if you like camping and an open air feel, it's very nice.

Great beach location”

Great location, right on the beach with other nice beaches nearby. The staff are extremely helpful. If you're not the partying type, I wouldn't stay on a saturday night as the beach party goes on till the very early hours!

Beachfront with gardens too!”

Front desk very accommodating and concerned about guests comfort. Bar next to resort has music till 3am on Sat night. Great DJ and atmosphere. Front desk will suggest a room away from that side of resort if you're concerned about noise. Beach rocky in front of resort, but you can walk down beach and rent chair/umbrella for smooth sand.

lovely bungalow,very relaxy”

Ko lantra is a lovely island,real place that did not become too turist yet. Lanta marina is a simple and quiet place with authentic bungalow with great sea view and nice balcony.great place to relax and to chill.

Cute bungalow, great location”

These bungalows were some of the cutest I've seen. They are very basic, but functional and attractive. Most units face the ocean, which is great. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper - because the walls are natural materials, you can hear some noise at night, but it's delightful to wake up to the sound of waves and the birds chirping. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. Long Beach is just a short walk, but it's too bad the rocky area in front of the hotel isn't cleaned up - would be a nice place to have a snack or watch the sunset if not for the trash strewn about. Location is at the south end of Long Beach - central to other beaches, but not too many food options except for overpriced bland touristy restaurants. The Marina's restaurant does have good food and prices are reasonable compared to many places on the road.

Probably the best bungalows in koh lanta yai?”

the huts they are really beautiful (check out the pictures!) with modern toilets and warm showers (admittedly not the strongest, but a great concession to modernity), mosquito nets (mosquitos don't seem to be a problem here) and very clean too. we were going to stay 2 days and ended up staying a week, which says it all really. and it's been a pleasant one, lying in a hammock, catching some rays, catching up with friends (good internet connection too). people who stay here must realise that if you need to sleep in a hermetically sealed room, like they provide in a posh hotel, you don't belong here! (and yes, i have read the other reviews). they are open to nature. you may see spiders and ants etc. but you can hear the waves and the cicadas at night too, which is what lanta yai is really about - kick back, relax, do little else. the location bottom of long beach. yes it's a bit rocky at the bottom end here, but you only have to walk for 5 minutes to get to the nice bit. it's close to the amenities too. again 5 minutes to 7/11. the staff i can't speak highly enough of ai. i think she realises that lanta marina is part of a dying breed on long beach. she is an attentive and caring host. and she also offered us new bedding and towels during our stay. if you need anything just ask! it's a good location for stopping on koh lanta before visiting the outlying islands too. we were here during the 'quiet' season. paid a night during our stay, but would have happily paid more in retrospect. our experience of the bars - one of which is next door to this place, is that they are quiet - it's more about the sound of the waves here. a relaxing stay and i'm worried that we will not be able to find anywhere as nice!

Nice bungalows and super friendly staff”

nice bungalow resort, right on the ocean. the staff made me feel right at home and the environment was very relaxing, except night of full moon (people party all night), but that was no fault of marina resort. i plan to stay here again on my next trip to thailand.

Simple Place With Big Extras”

I had a wonderful stay here and enjoyed every moment of it. Just one thing though, I wished the room being provided with warm shower as sometimes it could get too cold for a morning bath...and more time to enjoy everything the resort could offer.
