Great place in quiet environment”
We can definitely recommend this place ... it's worth it just for the view alone but we also encountered friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and we really enjoyed the location of this place in the middle of a small village.
Great place to stay! Very quiet, big rooms, perfect position, directly on the beach, clean and peaceful. The owner and all the staff are really nice and available for all you need! I really suggest this hotel! I will be back soon! Paola
Delightful modern hotel in the heart of the village”
Modern, spacious, well-equipped rooms within 15m to 150m of everything you might want in Chaloklum village. The hotel is right on the beach and has its own small but perfectly formed swimming pool. The manager, Pop, is delightful and exceptionally helpful.
Spacious rooms just on the beach”
The hotel is located in a quiet small town on a quiet street in the north of Koh Phangan. We stayed 4 nights in the Beach Front Suites, which are in the first floor just facing the beach. The beach is nice and calm, but almost disappears on high tide. The service was very helpful and supported us in all our requests. We enjoyed our stay and would always come back.
Had an amazing stay in the beachfront suite. Very modem design, in room jacuzzi, nice pool, amazing view, and directly in the middle of a small working fishing village. Not the best swimming beach but those are only a short scooter ride away. The best swimming beach is bottle beach which is only 20 minutes by longtail. Wouldn't recommend staying at bottle beach overnight as the accomodations are not good. Lots of good restaurants by Mandalai, our favorites were a place called Texas on the corner and a great Italian place. Can't remember the name but it's the only one in Chakoloklum.
Nice place to chill”
We spent 2 nights with our kids (13-11-10), we booked the beach front rooms (they have 2 available) with direct access to the beach. Small hotel with about 10 rooms which makes it a quiet place. No restaurant on the premises but enough available on the street! Also for breakfast. Rooms are clean and big. Only thing missing would be stairs to go to the beach direct from the front deck. We recommend this place!!
Fascinating View and Peaceful Location”
I'd called to request the sea view room on the second floor, the owner was helpful and his staffs were very nice, we felt very welcome 5 stars to staffs! We'd stayed here for 3 nights, the room we stayed was clean and bright, also offered a great view of Chalok Lam Beach and Pier. The beach was so good that you should go swimming, but if it's too hot, you could checkout their mini pool (in-room jacuzzi bathtub was nice too!). The location is quite peaceful, not so crowded. Even it's quite far from Thong Sala Pier (a 15 min driving) or Fullmoon Pary - Rin Beach (a 20 min driving) but it's okay for us because the road is easy and not so complicate (actually, the hardest driving part is near Rin Beach) For foodies, there are 'Ko-Rahum' and 'Three Sixty View Point' that is not far from the hotel (just a 4 min driving) to check in and snap some shots of wonderful views. Talk to the food, if this hotel can offer breakfast at hotel's seaside, it would be very perfect!
Friendly, family staff, love them!”
Could be cleaner (mold in toilet/shower, dust, etc). The positives are that staff works hard to make guests happy, staff is genuine and family oriented, safe environment and good bed... right on ocean!
New happy place!”
This area became my new "happy place" in Thailand! Small, intimate, Thai fishing village with a slow pace. The Hotel obviously had new renovations, the paint and grout in the bathroom was fresh as was the whole room. Very clean, very friendly staff, incredible beach. One highlight was watching 4 young Thai girls do footraces down the beach, then watching young Thai boys diving off the pier. Very cool locals! The water has crystal clarity, and the sand is like fine flour. Very friendly at the restaurants, with incredible food. Will be back.
Lovely staff, excellent clean room perfect for escaping the stormy weather ”
Great staff, very friendly and helpful. loved the lighting in the room the dimmer switch is a nice touch. The bath in the room was great. It was a shame the weather was so awful so I didn’t get to use the pool.
Nice boutique hotel for peaceful stay away from chaos”
The boutique hotel is in Chalokrum, a fishing village. The taxi boat station to Bottle Beach is just 5 minutes walking. Accessible to number of seafood restaurant at beach side. The hotel is cozy with well maintained swimming pool and set up. The room is spacious with jacuzzi and comfortable. Staff are helpful and will try to answer your questions at their best effort. The only drawback is the toilet door is abit tear off and hard to close and the jacuzzi does not come with hot water.
The staff make this a gem!”
The staff make this a gem! Shame we only got to stay 1 night as it is in a lovely setting with a nice stretch of beach (though please sort out the ladder down!!). My only reservation is the missed details for cleanliness eg hairs in bathroom, dust around tv...But for one night this is not an issue. A longer stay I would be bothered! The staff are super friendly and you have everything you need within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful and Relaxing”
My partner and I had a fantastic mini break to Koh Phangan staying at this resort. We chose this resort as its in an area we love to visit in KP. The hotel itself was nestled quite nicely amongst the other decor of the little rustic fishing village. Inside the hotel was a large, clean pool with rooms set around it. Our room was on the beach front. We had ceiling to floor windows which meant we got a fantastic view of the sea from our bed every morning. The room was very large, with nice furnishings, a great bath tub/jacuzzi, and was very clean (always a must!). I would 100% recommend staying at this lovely boutique hotel. It's fantastic value for money.
Quite beach hotel”
It was good experience. Since the beach was clean and there were hardly any local, you love the serenity of island.you would probably never visit the north of island but once you are here, you can explore really beautiful beaches. Some completely unexplored areas remains on the island. The only issue was certain rooms have bad wi-fi reception.
nice hotel, location and service”
the hotel is nice, good rooms and forniture, friendly people. It is located in the Chaloklum village, the good choise if you like relax and a tipical thai place (small village, small rooms, smiling people), but you also need all services (internet point, massage, restaurants, beach, travel agency). If you like bloody mess, party and bukets maybe Hat Rin (the full moon party place in Koh Phangan) is the best place.
Lovely hotel in a quiet beach”
we stayed at the hotel during the full moon party. the hotel looks new and it is beautiful, it is in the beach front but the beach was dirty around the hotel area, you have to walk away from the hotel for some minutes to enjoy a nice swim and sand. .
Good for the price, but run-down”
We booked the pool view for 2xnights then asked for an upgrade so stayed another 5-7xnights. Everything that needs to be said was said in the review before. If this hotel can improve its service it may do well. Otherwise there are too many other arguably nicer beaches on Phangan to visit - poor service leaves a bad taste.
Returned With my Mum and Things were worse”
I gave the Mandalai another go and took my mum. Because she was older her expectations were obviously higher than mine, but things were worse than before. The foot cleaning trough was still filthy. The plastic and broken bottles that were there on my last stay were still there. The pool was green and could not be used. A single woman and her daughter stayed one night and left because they were very unhappy. The room was not cleaned on one of the days and we were told no-one was available to clean - not 1hr later and the cleaner herself was in the now clean pool (this being the first day any guest could swim in it because it was green before) with all her clothes on! My list just goes on. I asked for a boat service - why the Thai guests say there is a boat I do not understand because the Mandalai has no boat - and the front desk was of no help. I had to contract one myself and it was a small nightmare. The elephant trek the hotel did arrange was awful - the elephant was so old it stopped every 3mins. The route it took was 90% uphill so the entire hour was spent going uphill. It was tedious and boring and was really just a complete waste of time and money. The bones are good but someone needs to sweep up the management, or lack of it, and get things on track. What a waste! It's a great location but it is being run to the ground by poor training or perhaps lack of training.
Nice small resort on the beach”
I love it. It's nice. I'll stay there again. Good room and good service. The staff are friendly. But the swimming pool is to small. It should be bigger and that will be it perfect. It's 20 mins from the busy area, "Had Rim".Need a motorbike for that. At night it's difficult to find a taxi
