Cheap in town with wifi & breakfast! ”
Pros: Value for money, clean, wifi, heater, breakfast. Cons: No ac/fans at all (but it was cold at night), dogs roaming around the lodge, blackout during our last hour staying there (lucky!), no variety in breakfast menu (everyday same: fried noodle, fried rice and toast. But you can order side dishes (nuggets, fried eggs, etc) with extra charges.
bilik besar dan sgt2 murah”
agak sunyi.. tp no worries.. ok je.. good place to stay.. bilik besar sgt n bersih.. staff friendly... will come again.. tq chill box..
Nice view of Mt. KK and Quiet stay.”
Took a van from KK . (Nego Rm20) Van moved after full with passengers. Asked driver to stop at 36 Lodge. It has own restaurant otherwise the nearest is 800 m walk from hotel. (69 Station). From Kundangsan to Sandakan. We took a taxi from hotel (rm18) and stopped at a bus stop waited for 40 min..but no direct bus to Sandakan. Finally took a bus (rm30) to Sandakan Checkpoint and changed to an old local bus (rm5) to Sandakan town. (More than 1 hr journey) Suggest to take a bus (pass thru buses or van (from bus station) to Ranau and thereafter take a air cond bus to Sandakan. Cannot find reliable bus timetable! The taxi from Lodge 36 to Desa Dairy Farm, War Memorial and Fruit Vege stalls (abt 3 hours) cost me rm80. I got the taxi via the hotel receptionist. Nego with them or you can get rip off. The hotel receptionist gets a cut of the taxi fare . Nego Nego. I reckon rm50 is a fairer price.
For the price you can get cleaner, newer place. That being said it is not a place to be avoided if you run out of option. Good enough for a nights stay. Breakfast was very basic and they are very strict with the plates, only giving out the exact number of pax as booked.
Cosy, simple, near Kinabalu Park”
Just 15 min walk to the Kinabalu Park entrance, this is a good location. Good value considering the location with some rooms offering Mt Kinabalu views (if the clouds clear!). Simple breakfast included. Friendly staff and very clean. There are several cats and dogs roaming around that are very friendly.
The experience varies from the room ”
Get the double deluxe room with the mountain view as it is located nicely for the Mt kinabalu view. Do not get the single room as you will be in the same bldg as the staff and it can become noisy and creaky. So if you want to rest early then it might not be good. Food-wise there are limited choices but they do have the fried rice and noodles so the main things they have. What I like best here is the staff. They were so accommodating and helpful with our requests and always gave a smile and good service.
Good place for this kind of price”
I have mixed experiences with the receptionists. One is helpful, another one not so. When we first checked in, we came with quite a handful of luggage, there's no helping hands from the hotel staff. To make the matter worse, the receptionist just point the direction of the hotel and we have to walk to our room on our own. Even if you not helping with the luggage, at least have someone else guide us to the room, which is some distance away from the front desk. Notwithstanding, I have quite a pleasant service from other hotel staff who help us to secure the transport booking with reasonable prices. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others. It was a pleasant stay in my experience.
GREAT VIEW.. DO NOT BRING HUGE LUGGAGE...”
our 2nd time here and we brought the kids. it was raining when we reach and it was so cold. good luck if u bring huge luggage down and up the stairs. do note theres no tv and wifi sucks. just enjoy nature.. beware of the many dogs. but harmless. it just nuisance, there's one day that we came back and theres a dog sleeping in front of my MIL room. my husband have to go to the reception area to call someone to shoo the dog.
Wonderful place to see the mount Kinabalu and im amazed to see the mountain at the sunrise.. very clear and panoramic view. My suggestion to the is to equipped the place with tv and telephone line so the guests can make contact the receptionist much easier.
Overall nice place to stay!”
Good location, nice view for Kinabalu Moutain, clean sheets & simple breakfast provided. The only thing complain is thin wall, you can hear footsteps & conversation came from rooms beside, Overall is a nice place for overnight.
Acceptable fare with basic room”
Im a single traveller to climb MK and booked a single bedroom with shared toilet outside. Thinking it's just for a night and the fare for single room quite cheap. Room was ok but it is not advisable for women as i need to share a toilet outside the room. So, i upgraded my room to a twin bedroom which was more confortable to stay with less noice from someone walking on top of your head. The rooms were not sound proved because you can hear your neighbors talking.
No Kinabalu view...”
The place is ok. The breakfast was nice. It's the location.. If you dreamed of waking up to Kinabalu view, it's not for you. Overall, an ok place to stay for a night.
Breakfast was totally awfull”
This lodge restaurant totally in poor. Written there halal(chinese muslim food) but the way they let the dog roaming inside the kitchen and eating there....make me doubt of halal as they claim
I believe if you're putting your rooms below a hill with lots of steps away from the parking, you should mention clearly in the description. I was travelling with kid and plenty of luggage. Not fun when arriving/leaving on rainy day. (potential slippery steps) Great if only adults though, great view of the mountains.
We booked this property 2 months and advance and called the property 2 times to ensure wi fi is available and we have a definite Yes answer this we booked bungalow and not the willies cottage... when we arrived no internet connection at all and been told the bungalow has separate router and happened to be broken!
Apart from Location - Best avoided!”
Overall extremely disappointed with our stay. This was a last minute booking for a “DELUX double mountain view” which was close to Kinabalu National Park HQ entrance. Staff were unhelpful with issues ranging from wifi to general problems with our room Wi-Fi never worked and according to staff was “weather dependent” - I could see the mountains 50KM away so don’t know how much better it could of gotten The “Delux Double” was an outhouse with en-suite shower / toilet. Had massive cockroach visit us one evening The room was cold - no heating provided. The toilet was leaked every time we flushed The shower NEVER had hot water Despite kettle being provided there was no tea / coffee or mugs provided - aimed at oriental clientele!! Yes the view from “porch” was nice but apart from clean sheets and comfy bed I would avoid this place altogether. First time doing full Agoda review that how much I was disappointed with our stay. Better nearby - best avoided.
Adequate if u are planning to sleep and leave”
Location is great. The price is cheap. The room that i got was the exactly the amount of money i paid. Parking could be tricky if you come in big vehicle. The room is located at the back of the premises which made the visual appearance of entrance unflattering. 2 single beds with sufficient lighting. I had difficulty of getting mobile coverage whenever i'm in the room. Hot shower is available but limited to first 15 mins before it get cold, and its was shared with other room which may run out faster. Breakfast is ok.
More Pro's than Con's”
Pros (+) Clean and nice room. Good value for money. Breakfast included. Body shower provided. Parking provided. Nice view. Location wise is very strategic. Cons (-) Noises from the people at the room upstairs. Same menu for breakfast EVERYDAY. Lot's of menu unavailable ('not in time to get the raw materials supplied due to CNY' the staff said).
Recomended place to stay. Was a bit cold at night. No tv. Line coverage were not strong, however they provide wifi (but in slow speed). The view is nice, breakfast included. Overall was good but can be better.
