Good breakfast, nice staff”
Pro: Good facilities, spacious room, good a/c, simple breakfast but delicious, 3min walk to town centre, kind and helpful staff Cons: Slow connection of wifi, bathroom need to renovate as the bathtub is old and dark, the room floor is very slippery due to wood made, we almost fall down everytime.
Newly renovated rooms, very clean”
The place is located in one of the side streets from the main heritage street of Sisavangvong and is even more central than the 1st place we stayed in - Sayo Naga GH. Agoda booking includes breakfast. Our room is at the 2nd level through a stairway. You have to remove your shoes and put them on a rack before you can go upstairs. The rooms look newly renovated so everything smells good, looks nice, interiors beautifully thought of. Wifi wroks well. Bathroom very clean, fixtures working well. Breakfast has 3-4 choices and whatever served is delicious (pancakes great). There are several other guesthouses and restaurants along the street which is located just beside the Royal National Museum grounds. Service with a smile.
We booked a couple of nights at this place after leaving another hotel where our room stank like mould but unfortunately this one wasn't much better. The bathroom retains water for a long time after using the shower and the excess water had eaten away the bathroom door on the inside so there was a big piece if tin nailed to the inside of the door to hide it. The staff are nice but they need to sort out the problems with the rooms.
Don't let picture provided in agoda.com fool you ”
I selected this hotel because of one condition. Located in the city center. I also checked on the pictures provided. But when i arrive i realized it looks older than the picture provided. I was quite upset but because that time it's the peak season for Luang Prabang. I couldn't changed the hotel.
Good location.. near to all tourist attractions (night market, phousi hill etc) Staffs are friendly. Clean hotel and comfortable stay! The staff help to arrange transport to the airport. Would recommend.
Great location, helpful staff, good food options”
Nice, small hotel surrounding a courtyard restaurant. Nice breakfast offerings and solid expresso options (paying extra) and a nice place for a meal, snack, or drink at any hour of the day. Wifi was strong in eating area, decent in the rooms. The staff was super helpful and kind and the rooms spacious and completely adequate for this price range. Would stay again.
Most helpful staff ”
This guesthouse is two blocks from where the slow boats let off and a half a block from the Main Street. The food was good but the best thing about the Phousi Guesthouse was the asst manager. Went out of his way for helping and always professional. We booked a special Laos show and when the Tuk Tuk driver did not show up-- the owner drove us and picked us up at the end of the dinner show. The rooms were small but lovely dark Teak wood floors and nicely appointed. We would definitely stay here again!
Great staff, nice room & close to the night market”
We really tested the integrity of the staff of this hotel as I forgot to clear out the cupboard in our room before we checked out and left all our expensive wet weather jackets at the hotel, which I only realised at the last minute as we were in our tuk tuk to the bus station. To their credit, when we got to Vientiane, I emailed them and they located the jackets via the cleaning staff and had them on the next bus down to Vientiane the next day. The location of the hotel was great, and the staff were very helpful (even when I woke one of them up at 5am to let me out so I could see the monks receiving their alms in the morning) The rooms weren't too big, but it is more of a guest house and you only use them for sleeping, so it wasn't a big issue. The only gripe I had was that the fridge turns off with the lights and all the other powerpoints in the room when you pull out the key, so you can't leave anything in there that might go off (such as fresh milk). You need to take off your shoes before you enter your room or if upstairs, before you go upstairs. Best to wear thongs for short trips into town and keep your shoes downstairs for the longer treks out. The TP they use is a bit weird (chinese stuff that is like crepe paper), so BYO if that might bother you. Overall, I couldn't fault the service we were given, even at breakfast when my 3yo announced he wanted a bacon sandwich, they made him one, even though it wasn't a menu item and for no extra charge. They organised bus tickets and even took me on the back of a scooter to find an atm when the one of the street ran out of money.
Lovely hotel in the heart of town”
Great location, right near the night market, however not too noisy. Rooms are a good size, clean, modern and very comfortable. The included breakfast was quiet nice, with both Asian and Western dishes. Staff were helpful and spoke good English. Good WiFi in room. Was worth spending a little bit more (than other guesthouses in the area) for the location and more comfortable room.
Quiet guesthouse next door to the Palace”
this guesthouse is optimally situated adjacent to the palace museum, and a short walk from the river and the night market. it is fashioned around a quiet courtyard with a small, garden where you can eat, and the staff are quick to respond to any inquiry or request. the rooms are clean and quiet, ensuring a good night's sleep. good value for money.
A lovely convenient place to stay”
Located next to the former palace and near the night markets yet very quiet, everything about this hotel was pleasant. Room was small but fine for our needs, the hot water plentiful (just make sure you run it for long enough so that it has time to become hot)the breakfast quite okay and the young man who spoke English at the main desk one of the most pleasant we met on our travels. This was our second trip to Luang Prabang. The Phousi Guesthouse certainly made our stay even more pleasant this time around.
Lovely guesthouse - the best we stayed in, in Laos”
we really liked this place, and i arrived from the previous town feeling ill, so i spent a fair bit of time here! it's a cosy guest-house, overlooking a courtyard where breakfast is served (it' also an evening restaurant, but very quiet). for once in laos the shower was curtained off from the rest of the bathroom, so your things can stay relatively dry. the bed was comfy, the tv showing many english language channels, the breakfast good, the service excellent, and the location perfect. one important tip: if you book here, note the location carefully - there are many "phousi" businesses in luang prabang, including at least one hotel and one other guest house (named "phousi guesthouse 2"). make sure your transport drops you are the right one, or have a map prepared in advance! i recommend the
Worth a return visit”
We booked two stays at the Phousi guesthouse, but were aware that the second could be cancelled if we didn't like it... well we were more than happy to return there, in fact we were looking forward to getting back there, which is as good as anyone cas say about a place. If you're going to Luang Prabang, I highly recommend this guesthouse.
Good location but mismanagement”
By their location and service, it is a good hotel. By their management, it was bad. We booked this hotel all because they had balcony as a hotel feature -- I kept telling my wife about this balcony :-), I did not know who to blame, but I checked agoda the day after I arrived, and balcony no longer part of this hotel features. So, do not expect a private balcony from this hotel :-(
Pleasen guesthouse with friendly people”
Stayed there 2 days and enjoyed the experience. Old colonial style place with Silver Shop at the front and an appealing courtyard where breakfast is served. Its near every where you want to be in Luang Prabang. Specially handy for the slow boat pier. Would recommend it.
location is the best thing that it can be proud.”
Good Location, Staff Very Friendly”
Good sized room with a large single and large double bed. The room could sleep a family of four, if kids were not too big. Bathroom was dated but it was nice to have a bath - hot water was hot throughout the day. Excellent location and quiet at night. Breakfast was basic but plenty of other options around the hotel.
On the double beds, the top sheet is a single sheet turned sideways, so it's too short for the bed and your bare feet lie directly under the blanket (which I very much doubt is washed after every change of visitor...) The staff did bring a second sheet on request, but as soon as the bed was freshly made, the second sheet disappeared and we were back to feeling the roughness of the blanket. Breakfast is really very bad, a so-called buffet that consists of boiled carrots and badly cooked eggs (after the first encounter, we always went somewhere else for breakfast). Compared with other hotels in Luang Prabang, the staff were on the verge of unfriendly. However, the location is great - right in the centre of town but not too loud - and the rooms have charm. Given the reasonable price, it might be worth putting up with the disadvantages for the sake of the location.
