Cozy stay & just a short walk from town”
One of my favorite stays in Sri Lanka. Super friendly and helpful owner who pointed out main places to check out and was proactive in asking if I needed a pick up from the train station. Cozy rooms and great breakfast. Though up in the hills, they have a shortcut to town for about a ten minute walk. Would stay here again!
Rotten place, should be blacklisted.”
The rooms were tiny barely 12 sq. m It is more a homestay with 5 rooms, the owners living downstairs. Unclean towels, one small piece of soap. Bed sheets and blankets unclean. Smelly. Myself and nephew arrived late, it was raining, had difficulties locating the place as the location has no proper road access. When we arrived I made a comment, that our local driver (tourist guide) had difficulties finding the place. I was rudely told off, you can leave if you are not happy, knowing fully well we have paid advance. It was late and raining; we had no choice but stayed the night and checked out 7.00am next morning. I expressed my disappointment to the Local guide, I have never met anyone so Rude and Hostile, gave me a poor impression of Sri Lankan. Pigeons nest should be blacklisted.
It was situated at the cery cozy and quiet place. Had a freat sunrising with a cery smart and friendly dog. Enjoyed watching sunrising in the very fresh air. The staff was cery kind and breakfast was great. Hop to visit again.
The guest house is a little out of town but this was no problem for us. Easy to get a Turk tuk or bike. Prince was an extremely welcoming host and great to chat to, he even lit us a fire in the evening as it was very cold outside. The room is specious clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend to stay here.
Felt like home”
Comfortable and lovely place with helpful staff. Only thing is we wonder if they change/clean the sheets because strands of hair could be found and it didn't look very clean.
An overall pleasant stay hosted by courteous and friendly team.”
pros: 1. the deluxe room (more like a Swiss chalet with a grand view of the valley) 2. friendly and courteous team members 3. quiet neighborhood 4. good view of the valley cons: 1. the standard room, a bit compact and may not have the view. ok if you're Solo or on a tight budget. 2. although breakfast is included, it's not made fresh in the kitchen. instead a team member goes out to the local market and gets take away. which means by the time it reaches you, your breakfast is cold. and you can't ask for a second helping. 3. carry your own water. they don't have bottled water or fresh tap water. however, if you ask, you may get some boiled hot water from the tea maker.
The host is quite nice, we had some interesting conversations with him. He helped us arrange our tour to Horton Plains National Park. We opted to do a tour on our own another day. It'd be great if you could explain all the options, e.g., doing a tour with transportation via public bus, instead of just offering up a private tour.
+ very friendly + helpful + very clean + nice "living room" with fire place + exceptional Sri Lankan breakfast + hot showers - Approx 1.5 km out of town, but nice views from the terrace
Very very friendly and helpfull owner, rooms are clean with enough blankets, nice to have fire in the evening, hot water, recommended address.
Decent place for a stay”
Decent place for a stay. Staff was good. Breakfast was not much of choice and was limited too. Need some improvement here. Everything else was OK.
Garden and surrounding is not good. Room, staff & cleanliness is okay.
Very nice guesthouse. Excellent welcoming and great staff. Very nice room and you feel like at home. We highly recommend !
The staff is very friendly. Breakfast good and always you can ask for a cup of tea. Room is clean and spacious. The house/room is very cold. We booked for a tour with them, but the person got ill so we can't went with him. They organised the tour with other person. We didn't like it, was very different as we paid.
This place has amazing views. Currently they have four rooms, however, they have plans to build more rooms on the roof with glass only panel walls so you can enjoy the spectacular views. I saw the construction site and couldn't believe the views from up there. I will definitely get one of those rooms for my next visit. Staff - one of the best people I have met in Sri Lanka, the owner is a great guy. The best thing about the this place is the staff on duty - Chummy! What a wonderful guy. He is extremely helpful but at the same time understands the value of your privacy. He will give you all the inside information about the town, where to go and what to do. He'll draw you maps if need be. Love this guy! Breakfast - the food was amazing in the morning. He made me eggs and brought so many fruits and other goodies. The experience is like waking up in your house and getting breakfast. This is not a typical hotel stay, more like if you owned your own mountain house in this area. What a luxury.
It's the best!”
The house was awesome: clean room, clean bath room. And it's on top of the hill will beautiful view. It's homely. Chummi the housekeeper was very helpful and nice. Love my stay there.
very good stay”
Nice guest house The owner is a good and respectable man The assistant is a nice guy and very helpful
The best guest house I've ever stayed”
Shami is the best guide, tea maker, map drawer and guest house manager. He did everything what we needed. We originally booked a night, but stayed 4 nights there. If we have more time, we will surely stay there longer. Travelers of Nuwara Ellya must stay longer than 3 days. It is a beautiful village with perfect weather.
beautiful place on mountain top ”
lovely place, good facility, cozy room, warm and helpful staff :D I wish I'd have more time there .
Wonderful place to stay”
One of the best places we stayed in Sri Lanka! Lovely and helpful hosts and staff, we felt welcome and comfortable the minute we arrived there. We appreciated the nice service (TukTuk arrangements, food delivery, bringing us to the laundry service in town, drawing us maps of the town / places to go, and and and....). The rooms look new and are very clean. Very comfortalbe bed. Nice sitting room / common room with a fire place. Breakfast was served outside on the balcony. We would absolutely stay there again!
The host was full of wonderful tips and information, better advice than found in the Lonely Planet guide book. He made sure that all of our needs were met, such as went out to pick up take away food for us, for no extra charge! The room was lovely and clean, just as the described. Great place to stay.
