3 days in Luang Prabang”
We had a wonderful stay in Villa Lao Wooden House. The owner was so friendly and helpful. Arranged transport to and from airport and to waterfalls. He was very informative about what to do and about Laos way of life. Room was rustic but very comfortable and exactly what we expected. We will stay there again when we return.
Good location and comfortable”
This small guest House is located in a great location. Staff are rather attentive but can only assist in limited ways. Breakfast was not the best buy that's fine. Room was clean, bed was comfortable on one side but sunken on the other. Bathroom was clean and comfortable. Good value
On a quiet street in Luang Prabang. ”
Right behind Saffron coffee. Check because they only have 6 rooms and don’t always have rooms with twin beds. This charming little guest house is a better choice for couples if you don’t care what type of bed you get.
Great place just off the main drag”
The hotel is small but with much character. Being situated one street of the main roads, the hotel is very quiet yet very close to all things. The owner speaks English well, his staff not so much. Room is clean but somewhat rustic. Charming wiht character for some, dated and tired for some. I'd stay again if you want a quiet and quaint place at the lower-mid range of prices.
Great location friendly staff ”
This is a small family owned and run guest house in the perfect location. Close to the Mekong, temples, night market and restaurants. The beds are very comfortable and it is peaceful and quiet. Staff are very friendly. I can highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in Luang Prabang
We like this hotel and come back next year.
Friendly homestay ”
The second time we come back Villa Lao Wooden Hotel. It is so nice and friendly. We fell so happy and our group love it.
Comfortable and clean family-run guesthouse in great location for exploring Luang Prabang! We enjoyed our week here.
Home sweet home”
It is a traditional laotian house. Spacious room and clean. They clean room and change towel everyday. Friendly staff. They have western and local breakfast options. There is sitting area on balcony in front of the room. Located in peaceful alley.
Pleasant 5 nights stay ”
Room was clean and comfortable with daily housekeeping. The location is only 5 mins walk away from the main street, morning market and night market. Staffs and owner are friendly and helpful. Can't think of any unsatisfactory issues with this stay.
Outstanding customer service, Best breakfast we had in Laos, Large rooms and right in the middle of everything in the UNESCO part of luang prabang. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Super friendly owner and staff. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Bring earplugs and eyeshades if you're a light sleeper as the walls were thin and we had a nice 'cock a doodle do chorus'. We enjoyed our stay.
Good Value - Great Location”
Past post pretty much spot on. The location could not have been better, in the older area between the Mekong and the main street and night market. Very nice street, children's school close by, you could hear them laughing and singing in the morning. The only suggestion I would give the owner of the guest house, you need hooks on the wall. There is a closet with hangers, but, it is so high you would need to be 6'6" to reach it.
Good resort for a Luang Prabang trip”
As we are visiting Luang Prabang more often we are happy having found a nice and convenient accomodation. The Wooden House is a good stay, also the breakfast served outside. There is only one Thing that should be put into order: The carpet in roon 201 should be replaced as soon as possible. It is not only old but seems very dirty (even when the room-service is taking care of it...)
Location and service excellent”
I loved this little place. Second time in LP, but first time at the Wooden House. I would stay here again. My friend said his room was a little too dark for him, but I was on a corner and found it ok. The Hotelier was a lovely man – he and all his staff greeted us very warmly on arrival and throughout our stay. The hand delivered breakfast was enough for an elephant to eat, but we did our best! All nice and fresh foods, and cooked eggs if you chose to have them. Best part was the laundry service was the same price as everywhere else – not $1.50 per item like some ridiculous hotels charge! And back on the same day – both times. Yes, I highly recommend the Wooden House in LP. PS: If you’re the Sheraton kind of tourist, leave this one alone. This is a LP hotel which fits in perfectly with its surroundings.
Perfect location. Beautiful houses.”
I stayed 4 nights at the Wooden House. As breakfast only begins at 7am (and most treks begin earlier), I only took it once. Laundry service was impeccable. Can be noisy at nights (monks chants and gongs as of 4:30AM).
Great Location, but Thin Walls”
Location was perfect (on the peninsula, just a couple blocks from both rivers where you can find riverfront dinning with good views). Rooms are dark, even in the day, but is perfect for sleeping at night. Breakfast was included and is bread with jam/butter, fruit, coffee/tea which was pretty tasty. Only issue is that walls are super thin and we could hear the music/noise from near by bars/hostels (stops at midnight because of curfew), dogs barking, and roosters EARLY in the morning. We chatted with other tourists and thin walls seem to be common in Luang Prabang unless you're staying at an expensive hotel. Hotel is family run and the staff (parents and their teenage kids) are SUPER friendly and helpful. They even called one of the tour operators on our behalf to make a reservation for us the next day. We decided to extend our trip and they gave us a good exchange rate to pay for the room (8K KIP to 1 USD) and offered payment by credit card (though would have had a 3% surcharge). Overall, I think the hotel was a great value for the money and would definitely recommend it.
great location, family-run hotel”
This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and enjoyed it as much as the first time. We had to leave early for a tour and the hotel provided us with breakfast outside of normal breakfast hours, which was much appreciated. Shampoos and soap provided are Suave brand in large bottles so it was nice to have good products to wash with. Met the owner this time around and he was very friendly and told us what a reasonable price was to go to the airport so we were able to negotiate a reasonable rate with a driver. Also, hotel is on one of the roads that the monks walk by on their 6am offerings collection so we were able to get up at 5:55am, go to the gate to watch them go by, and be back in bed by 6:30am.
Avoid this hotel. ”
After arriving on a remote airport with no taxis, in the middle of the night the owner, who picked us up announced us that his hotel was fully booked so he has to move us to an other place for the first night. On our confirmation mail three nights ago he did not mention anything about that. He threatened us that if we do not follow this plan he would leave us at the airport and go. We agreed to see the other hotel after he offered us a free ride which at the end he denied! While we were communicating with Agoda on very expensive call, in order to persuade us, he offered one night free which he denied again at the end! He also denied to answer the Agoda call. We felt very uncomfortable, since it was the only choice for us at this time of the night. Next day when we moved to his hotel and after losing our planned excursion and the tickets we already had booked, we realized that the rooms were like a container. Finally it was an experience to be avoided.
Un sitio inolvidable”
Second time in Luang Prabang. This time I have choosen the Villa Lao Wooden House, because the place I stayed before was booked out already. Was a good choice. Very well situated in the center of Luang Prabang, close to the Mekong river. Room was good, spacious and comfortable and most of all clean. Friendliest staff I have ever seen, nothing was too much and always smiling. Breakfast simple, but good, everything was there. Whatever you could think of was available, taxi service to the airport, excursions, safe in the room, it all was there. I remember 1 evening I came in to go to my room, they were changing 3 rooms. I asked what the probem was and they answered that they were expecting a group of single ladies, who did not want to sleep in a double bed and they needed singke beds. They went all over the village to get singke beds, although in the reservation this was not entioned! That is what I call service. Next time my hotel will be the "Villa Lao Wooden House"
