    Visit to Oxford
It was a very spacious, well equipped room. Hotel was convenient to central Oxford. The staff was very helpful. But the was just something odd about that the place.

Worst hotel for the money we've ever stayed in
The Ethos hotel was without a doubt the worst hotel for the money that we have ever stayed in at £105 per night plus tax and breakfast. On arrival late in the evening, we discovered that there is no reception and no on-site staff. Instead, we wandered around looking for staff as there are no clear signs and eventually phoned the number in the booking email. The phone rang out a number of times and then when we got through someone answered and immediately said "Please hold". We went on hold for 10 minutes. We rang again and repeated this process until I was shouting at the man and insisting he assist us. I ended up talking to someone called David who was completely nonchalant and didn't care at all about the fact that by this point we had been in the hotel for 30 minutes without checking in. Eventually we were told how to find our room for ourselves where a key is held in a combination box. On getting into the room David promptly hung up the phone without saying anything further. The room was like a youth hostel. There was an adjoining door to the next room and all conversation including whispers could be heard through the door. The bed sheets did not completely cover the mattress which was caked with human hairs. There was a dirty sink and the air conditioning didn't work. The bathroom was grotty with poo stains in the toilet and unwiped surfaces. Breakfast was unremarkable. There was cereal etc but the cooked breakfast was clearly made with the cheapest possible ingredients and was quite sparse. The other clientele at breakfast included lager louts and a man having a glass of red wine with his fry up. This hotel qualifies as the world's most overpriced youth hostel. It is dirty, under-staffed, and inconvenient. We would not recommend it to anyone.

    Good place for a couple
Everything is brilliant, not so far from the city center, takes like 10 minutes walk. Very close to the Cruch which is good. Plenty of restaurants along the way.

    Exceptional
I stayed at Hotel Ethos for 3 nights. The first night was room was smaller and opened on to the street (which I didn't love, but it was fine). The 2nd and third two nights I moved to a larger room inside and I loved it. Everything was great, including the staff, and especially Sara who was awesome!! She was very warm and welcoming and always willing to help. Thanks for a great stay!

    Exceptional
Each of the staff made our stay exceptional. The morning breakfast was fabulous and the staff went out of there way to help out. I would definitely return here. We enjoyed the beautiful neighborhood that the Ethos Hotel is located in and the proximity of the river with lovely walking areas.

    Ethos
lovely decorated room, enjoyed a grazing table at the café and complimentary processo but there was limited hot water so we struggled to have a bath. Breakfast was very tasty and they still served us even though we were late.

Nice, but overprices for what it was offered
The staff were very friendly and helpful, but when we arrived we were told our room was goven to someone else with a similar name to mine so we had to wait for us to be given another room with the facilities we paid for. Parking was £10 which was disappointing for a 4* hotel and the pricey fee for the room. The bed was very comfy, room clean, underfloor heating in bathroom which was nice. We stayed in a deluxe room for 2, but we only had one set of towels and one set of bath products. The tap on the sink in the room definitely needed repairing, it was really wobbly and the water pressure was very high, it was so easy to spill water on yourself. Lastly, there was no phone number for the reception anywhere or information on what time to check out which we had to look up on the internet and then call reception from our personal phones to check. Overall, a good stay but it was more like a bnb then a 4*hotel which was disappointing in terms of the price we paid.

    Disappointed
I was attracted to the hotel by the website and the price. In retrospect I wish I had paid more to stay in a different hotel. The room was cold when I arrived. There was no telephone in the room, no desk, no information about the wifi and the TV. The bathroom was poorly appointed. The water did not stay in the bath. The lightbulb in the bedside lamp was dead. However, the young woman in charge was fantastic and extremely helpful. I could not fault the service.
