There was only one receptionist/ night manager on duty when we arrived. We waited 20 minutes to be seen, a hotel this close to the airport should be used to late check ins. When we got to our room, our television didn’t work. No point queuing up to speak to reception for an other 20 mins. The room itself is very tired. The bath was rusty and didn’t look clean enough to use. We left early in the morning and there was no one at reception to check us out. We chose this hotel due to the proximity to the airport car park we were using. I wouldn’t stay here again.
You get what you pay for .”
I would not recommend this "hotel" because I was charged twice on my credit card and am now having the hassle of getting a refund. The hotel was to blame because they told me room wasn't paid for when in fact Agoda had taken the money already. I wanted a cheap room for one night and got a lodge room , booked before reading the awful reviews. I was dreading it , the noise , filth , rude staff etc. However expecting the worst it was a nice surprise to get a quiet room , clean and cosy and some of the staff do know what they are doing ( not the one who double charged me obviously !). The "lodge" is akin to a hostel mostly occupied by male contract workers , situated behind the hotel proper past the dustbins . parking ok down there. The fire doors on every door are severe and so very noisy but luckily for me I stayed on a Saturday night so the usual 4-5 am noise when workers departing was absent. Mattress was not supportive but slept on my side to avoid back problems. Water hot.
Looks like its about to be closed down! Cars parked everywhere , in a very bad state of repairs. Staff at reception just rude tried to check in just before 2pm, forget the discount rate that should be the full rate !
Nice place for an overnight stay.”
The hotel is easy to find, with nice staff and good facilities. Used the pool, spa tub and sauna, great for just £4! We had a standard double room which was nicely laid out, the only negative was the mattress - hard with springs poking into you! But for a quick overnight stay the hotel was great.
Free intent. Would be good
Give it a go before reading bad reviews ”
I have been staying here on and off for 3 weeks the staff are helpful on everything I’ve asked having a manned gym on site is amazing when ever you need it and then to relax in the swimming pool is every thing you could need in a hotel
-Staff were very helpful -Free car parking -Rooms could do with more upgrading but for the price and the limited time we were in the area it served the purpose -Night staff were so helpful and still smiling even in the early morning
Clearer instruction re: the access card to the room is needed. The card itself is confusing with 2 sets of arrows on it and I had to traipse back/queue at Reception 3 times! Had the receptionist said push the card in and immediately withdraw it there wouldn't have been a problem. As it was I was instructed to put the card in the slot and after about 10 seconds it turned red and then needed resetting. Why is it so hard to just put clear directions on the card?
Cheap and cheerful - basic but clean and convenient for airport with good parking”
I have stayed here many times when flying out from Gatwick or when collecting family arriving early. It is often easier to travel up the night before and stay here instead of leaving home at the crack of dawn and suffering rush hour traffic. This low cost hotel offers 2 weeks on site parking if you stay for 1 night - so that's a great deal. You can stay 1 night before you depart and leave your car here whole you are on holiday. 5 mins by taxi to the airport makes this location very convenient. The food off the menu was surprisingly good. The steak pie was July and tasty and the chicken tikka baked potato was very tasty. If you're looking for something very basic and value for money then this is for you.
The Place or the hotel is far from the airport well you have to expect that. The hotel was nice there is no free internet when you are inside of your hotel only in the common area you have to expect that in Europe no free wifi except McDonalds. Which is weird wifi is not free in first world country. Over all hotel experience is good.
Hotel either needs knocking down and starting again or a massive refurbishment. Whole hotel it stuck in the 1970s, Warbrobs etc all rank. One of those places that you have to wear socks around the room! Had to pay £4 to use the gym!
I've stayed here on two occasions and have no complaints. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Nice quiet location. It's a little dated but for bargain £35 a night who cares. I'd definitely recommend and stay here again!
I stayed here (the lodge) for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great food and service. I was expecting the worse as it was only £35 a night but I had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Only bad thing is signal and Wi-Fi is only free in Lobby or 20 mins a day in the rooms
Good stay ”
New Year's Eve ... Busy hotel But absolutely quiet even with the party running downstairs.... It could be more ventilated but that's not a massive problem ... Problem was lack of soaps or gels ... Beside that for sure I'll use it again :)
we initially stayed in the britania lodge. i advice against this. the standards there are poor. the heater didnt work...the lobby is dirty due to the muddle surroundings around the lodge which results in customers bringing it into the lodge. the rooms are tiny and the beds make soooo much squeaking sounds. we were lucky to be upgraded to the main hotel building which was 100 times bettter but also in need of some refurbishment.
It was very good and comfortable lodge. Location was little distant from Gatwick International Airport, but they provided the bus, so it was OK. Services offered by Europa Gatwick Hotel was good. Breakfast was good. I would be happy to stay in one of the Britannia Hotel Network hotels for my further visits to UK.
Just wonderful for the cheap price & 1 night stay”
1stly, my advice is not to be too convinced with all the bad reviews in the internet. Probably some people just want things to be PERFECT. I couldnt expect more for the price of the hotel (39 GBP/night)
Upgraded so I stayed a few extra days”
I was very pleased to be upgraded to a larger room with en-suite bath and shower after arriving and finding that all the single rooms were fully booked. The staff were very accommodating when I asked to retain the room for a few more days. The room had a balcony overlooking gardens with water feature for large golden carp. Since I arrived quite late the car park was full but I was relieved to find one of the last off road parking spaces. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a self service evening buffet that just about fitted the bill. My only reservations was the fact that wireless was only available in the lobby area and the only public computer terminal that was working was operated by slot machine and often froze up.
Bad the first room dirty blocked wimp is tea stain up the wall cups dirty and Saucers and more Second room bigger but tea stain up walls exstra pillow dusty bed stain on top and ripped my side the chairs dusty dusty had to put a towel on it, Also dircrion rubbish roses u on a3 bout you can't enter the hotel by this motorway does not say to go around the. Roundabout to exotic opssit motor way too 3 hour to find and I come from this area as a teen, I phoned the hotel got gym the lady not nice told me it the gym i chat help put down the phone
Zero direction or friendliness at front desk ”
First thing the lady says with a grim look on her face is “it’s going to be a while” What kind of greeting is that? Second I prebooked with confirmation paperwork in my hand but the gal kept repeating I only booked one room when it clearly showed otherwise on my confirmation screen. Once that was resolved she gave us 2 key cards and off we go (didn’t say or point where to go). It’s a big place so we wondered around for 20+ min trying to find our room. When we asked another colleague of hers to show us the way and brought up her lack of customer service to the blonde gentleman didn’t say anything. That’s not a way to deal with a complaint! The room was fine but the heating didn’t work so the night was very cold! Quick tip, if you’re going to put the face of the company to represent you with the first interaction, it shouldn’t be the young long haired brunette.
