Not quite there”
1. I was told the room i was given would be loud since it’s near the top floor night life area but the other room i can have isn’t ready. They took my phone number (twice) saying they’d call me as soon as possible to say my room is ready. Never called. 2. After killing 2+ hours i walked back to the hotel and asked for water. I was told I’d find it in my room when i get there for a fee of $3. 3. My room had a safe in the closet without a door or lock. Just a hole in the wall. (?) 4. Went to my (expensive) spa treatment and afterward was told i could not charge to my room. They needed a credit card. I didn’t bring one, as i am in a hotel spa and I’m staying there. 5. went for a drink at the hotel restaurant/bar. Was told i couldn’t charge that to my room either. My friend brought a credit card so she paid. Very odd. 6. Coffee maker didn’t work in room but no coffee available in hotel until 8:30am. It was 6:30. (C’mon!!). they need to work out A LOT of kinks.
Great location, plus bonus humiliation by staff if you're not the "right" type!”
1. Received downgraded room despite payment in advance. New room was quite literally tattered. 2. Staff refused to fix info tablet OR phone in room. Made excuses, said it was done. Neither were connected during my entire stay. 3. Reception refused to provide spa info, they "don't have that info". 4. Upon enquiring about its opening hours, reception also said rooftop bar had a private function for 2 days. Found out next day from leaving patrons that there was none. 5. Reception paused mid-checkout transaction to talk to other staff and waved me off dismissively, no apology. 6. Only the doormen were kind to me/us. I thankyou for that. This was my husband's first impression of Chicago. I feel so embarrassed for saying how wonderful Chicagoans are. Have never felt so humiliated by hotel staff in my life.
Booked a room with a balcony but “unfortunately “ there was no availability! Not even a parking voucher offered for the “third party’s booking Mistake”
We enjoyed our stay at the Dana. The facility was beautiful, clean and modern and the staff was amazing!
I didn't get the room on a higher floor that I originally requested, but I enjoyed my stay. Staff was friendly, rooms were cleaned, and GREAT VIEWS! I'm already looking forward to return!
Great hotel and spa! Will definitely stay again!
Great view and location !”
The room my wife and I got had a great view. We had a corner room on the 25th floor, the night we stayed there there was a party upstairs late night and you can hear the music. It wasn't a problem with us tho since we were out around that time. The staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel location is great, the store from Michigan Ave are like 5-10 minute walk and theres activities near by as well.
Upon checking in we were told we were upgraded to a suite at no additional charge! The room was spacious and modern with a breath taking view. In room iPad, robes and slippers and an in room bar with reasonable priced wines. This was our 3rd time and will be an annual thing for us now!
Great staff upon arrival. Nice location. Booze in room was reasonably priced. Room service fee was outrageous. $21 for a mimosa! Buy the $36 half bottle of champagne in the room...
It was just too noisy. The air conditioning just kept going on and off with a terrific noise. Everything else was great.
Another great visit”
This was our 3rd time staying at the Dana Hotel and it did not disappoint. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was clean and comfy. There was construction going on at the restaurant and was closed, but the hotel offered free breakfast each morning on the rooftop lounge which was a nice bonus! We loved our stay here and will return again in the future.
well located, friendly staff, nice hotel
An urban experience at a small boutique hotel ”
I did not enjoy my experience and would not recommend this hotel to others. I went for a staycation, I live in the area, with a friend. We were surprised to find that the front desk, which is oddly just a small table at the entrance, staff were not attentive and too busy talking to notice us standing in front of the them. On the way up to our room another guest said to us "oh you just checking in. Wait until the club on the top floor opens you will feel the vibrations from the bass and hear the music all night." Too bad he was correct. As we walked to our room the smell of pot in the hallways was just overwhelming. Opening the door to our room was a huge shock. The room was so small. I mean tiny and couldn't be any smaller if you tried. We discovered after going to bed that not all the windows had blackout shades so after going to bed at 1am woke up at 7am. If you do like to go clubbing, and I mean a typical club with strobes and folks grinding on the dance floor, than this would be a perfect location for you. You can drink all you want then stumble to your room afterwards.
Best Hotel Experience Ever!”
My stay was incredible! The hotel is downtown Chicago, prime location for shopping and dining. Upon checking in I was informed that I'd received a complimentary room upgrade. The hotel has such beautiful decor and the views of the city from the rooms and the rooftop lounge are breathtaking. The staff was fery friendly and helpful. And the on site restaurant served some great brunch eats. The spa was the pennicle of my stay at the Dana Hotel. My spa services were professionally executed and it was a very relaxing and refreshing experience. I will definitely revisit the Dana Hotel and Spa for a longer stay!
The staff was great, and the room was gorgeous.”
The hotel and staff dealt with the issues of the booking promptly. The rooms were very nice and the staff very friendly.
Huge rooms with killer views of downtown.”
Loved the room but there is no drive in entry, just a street corner so beware if the weather is bad.
