An absolute delight”
I arrived before 8.30am after a long haul international flight and although the website said check in wasn't until 2.00pm, my room was already available and I was able to check in straight away. The staff were extremely warm and exceptionally polite as well as highly efficient. The room was light and airy and very clean and although I'd expected it to be quite small, it utilised its space efficiently so in no way felt cramped. The location was perfect and being my first trip to Paris and a little apprehensive about where to book, I could not have picked a better area. La Palais De Garnier is at the end of the street and was a delight to pass every day and the metro station is metres from the front door so access to public transport couldn't be easier. I would definitely recommend the Excelsior Opera Hotel and it will be the first place I look to book for future visits to the beautiful city of Paris.
Great Friendly Staff”
This hotel is excellent if you need to do your shopping and a close by public transport. The staffs are super friendly and nice. The elevator, although small but fit its purpose. The rooms are surprisingly not so compact and small as some of the comments here, especially since we had a three-bed room. The bathroom amenities are nice, and the bathroom size is just right. The wardrobe is fine. There's a safe box and a mini bar in the room. The TV has many channels but lacking any english channels except for 1 or 2 news channels, which is irritating because the news kept repeating itself. Need at least one movie or music channel in English. Breakfast is not included, but after a quick going through the breakfast room, it looks like just a normal small spread breakfast. No worries, cafes are aplenty in Paris. Or a close by Starbucks, if you must. The hotel provides you with their own free map that locates where the hotel is and the train lines. Wi-fi reception is free, good and fast. Gare du Nord/Terminus Nord - the train terminal is a 20 minute walk. So if you do not wish to take a cab (which cost €10), or carry your heavy luggage up and down the staircase to the metro train (stops at Metro Station 'Chaussee d'Antin La Fayette' - find H&M and walk slightly further up, about 50m to find the hotel), you have the option to walk. Just go out from Gare du Nord main entrance, walk straight onto Rue de Saint-Quentin or the Bd de Denain, and turn right into Rue La Fayette. Walk straight down the road for 20 mins and you will reach the hotel on your right, just before H&M and LaFayette Mall. There is an Italian Restaurant next door which is nice. Or if you want to try Indian/Pakistani cuisine, we find that New Balal on Rue Taitbout (the small lane opposite the hotel) just around the corner, is much nicer and worth trying, compared to Gandhi Ji restaurant, the one right in front of Excelsior Opera. All in all, this hotel is great
When I was booking online our Triple room for 5 nights in this Hotel I asked in advance for the top floor and a non-smoking room. After our flight to Paris we were tired, so after we received keys to our room #535 we tried to menage our stuff quickly (with kids there are a lot of stuff), inspite the elevator was small, I've done our bags fast enough. In addition staff suggested to leave our stroller near the bar, that was very convenient. After we entered the room and opened our window we were killed by the view on Opera and Paris, as well as we had a balcony across all of our windows on the highest floor of the hotel. As for room it was normal Paris-size room, not the brand new, but tidy and convenient with the safe deposit and the mini-bar, which I used as a fridge. The location of the hotel is one of the best for tourist on the quite street with Italian restaurant and the glossary store on the ground floor. It took us only 1 minute to get to Galeries and the metro.
The right choice for shopping queens”
I spent one night @ Excelsior Opera Hotel, for my short shopping visit to Paris. The location of this hotel is just steps away from Galeries Lafayette, the most complete & most likely visited shopping mall. So if you only have limited time to shop in Paris, this is the right hotel for you. The room condition is very clean & equipped with 24-hrs free internet that allow you to do business matters, even in late hours. The staff is helpful & informative, and the food is also delicious. If I had the chance to visit Paris again, I surely will choose Excelsior Opera Hotel.
Centrally located Hotel”
Excelsior Opera Hotel is located in a superb location. Very close to shopping areas and metro stations which brings you to all the major attractions in Paris. Service provided by hotel reception staff was excellent! Friendly, warm, helpful, welcoming and attentive. What can i say!! :)
This is my second stay this year when I stopover Paris. I especially like the Pizza from the restaurant beside and the fruit tart from across the street. There is the electric kettle which is usually not available in European hotels. It's a breeze getting to the hotel by taking the Roissy Opera bus from the airport. It is close to the metro and RER and walking distance to Galeries and Printemps. The pros outnumber the cons.
Great value hotel, friendly staff, central”
Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Central Paris. Rene the concierge is a fund of knowledge and remembers a returning guest. Location couldn't be better, right behind Opera Garnier, next to metro and Galeries Lafayette, and direct bus to Gare du Nord. On this visit I stayed in a beautifully redecorated room on 5th floor. No noise to complain about unless you count the very faint metro rumble, which I rather like. Breakfast room spotless, and excellent selection. This hotel is really now a home from home. A bientot!
Small hotel with excellent location in Paris shopp”
it is not difficult to find this hotel after exiting the metro station of chaussée d'antin through "rue la fayette". hotel is nice lobby with small and slowly moving elevator. staff is helpful to arrange luggage storage and gives me some information and paris tourist maps. room is qite small but good enough with amenities, clean shower and toilet. but the best value for accomodation selection is hotel's location next to la fayette department stores and paris opera within the walking distance.
Comfortable stay in central location.”
The staff was welcoming and accommodating. I was given a very quiet room on the inside courtyard. A very comfortable stay at Excelsior Opera.
Welcoming, comfortable and acceptable”
The Excelsior Opera Hotel was an good value and is supported by a pleasant and accomadating staff.
Amazing experience in Paris”
The hotel is situated in the area of Paris Opera which is convenient to shopping in the nearby department store and enjoying the cuisines. The staff in this hotel are helpful, polite and friendly which made me feel warm upon my stay in Paris.
Great hotel great location”
this lovely hotel opera excelsior is near to the airport-bus bus stop, near to metro and near to Galerie lafayette and walking distance to Printemps. pretty nice environment around the hotel except some occassion drunkards at the bar nearby. The rooms are pretty nice with lovely balcony however the shower is super duper small, where you cannot extend your hands without hitting the wall. Good point is that its right next to the shopping center galerie lafayette.
Excellent mid range hotel in central locaiont”
friendly reception staff (absolutely no parisian "attitude"). room well appointed for this category, though bath is small and basin too close to wc. big, comfortable bed. tea, coffee, cake and biscuits on tray with kettle. stock in minibar fridge can be shifted around to make room for any food or drink purchased in the many convenience stores in the side streets. wonderful location, ten minutes bus ride (no 42) from gare du nord. metro station on the corner of the block outside galeries lafayette and just behind opera. airport bus goes from behind the opera. free wi-fi and reasonable tv choice. a bit of traffic noise if you have the window open, but aircon is good if you have to shut out the parisian city noise. tiny lift, and i can't comment on breakfast (available till 11 a.m.)
Great location and good services”
The location of Excelsior Opera is excellent, near to Metro station and Lafayett. And there are many restaurants nearby, quite convenient to us. The staff is so nice with very goods services and helpful, too. But the rooms are quite small and a little bit old.
Everything's in a walking distance”
it's much better than i expected. the room is cozy, furnished with all facilities a nice hotel should be. air-con and heater are also installed. lcd tv with cable with various world channels. the location is great. a metro station is just a few steps away. and bus stop at the opera to and from cdg airport is a few minutes away.
Location and cleanliness”
Location very great, just one step away from galleries lafayette, metro station no.9 if you want to go to tour the eiffel, you just hop on to this metro, place the opera, louvre museum just 1 mile, we can take a walk to the tourist attraction. Bustling with a lot of restaurant and cafe, very easy to find and to fullfilled our appetite. This small and very nice hotel worth for money.
Great little hotel”
As a single traveller I felt safe in the area. A metro station is easy walking distance. The Roissybus stop is nearby and is a good price to get to the airport. Shops just up the road and the Opera Garnier is a 5min walk. I found it value for money and the staff are very helpful. Easy check in and check out.
Excellent Service and Very Good Value for Money ”
This was my second stay in this hotel and will not be my last stay there. It is very centrally located and the staff is simply great. The rooms are nice and functional. I had the chance to have a very large balcony with a lovely view on the Opera House (which is only 500 Meters away).
Nice hotel , very good located and clean. Nearly to everything. A bit noisy from metro but not bothered us that much. You can take roissy buss ( shuttle buss from the airport to opera station) and continue 5 min walk to reach the hotel.
great location, ok room, decent service”
i believe when u pay for a 3 star hotel, u should expect a 3 star quality. in this sense, excelsior opera done pretty well. it seems that they have renovated the hotel. the reception area looks way better than a 3 star hotel. the room though slightly smaller but came clean and odourless. toilet is bright and clean as well. no problem with the hot water at all. the worst thing about this hotel: slow lift and u can actually here the lift movements even late into the night. i'm a rather heavy sleeper so it bothered me less. the few things i feel need to be changed are the windows and frame. wood have aged a lot, might post as a security concern to some people. rooms do look a little tired and spiderwebS can be seen. i travelled in late nov, the air con is switched off. tis made the room stuffy. i called the reception and asked if the air con is switched off on purpose or is it damaged. they straight away tell me "open the windows if u need fresh air". well, not very nicely done. the reception also do not have power adapter just in case u need. overall, this hotel served its purpose well, of course with some areas for improvements. location is perfect! room is so-so. cleanliness is good. service is passable.
