Good value in a good location”

King size bed, good A/C and clean rooms

The Executive Plaza Hotel in Malate, Manila, the Philippines is located in the center of the Malate night life and is an excellent value for the money. The rooms are very spacious, in good repair, exceptionally clean and well appointed with a nice desk and two easy chairs, and the rooms are quiet even though the hotel is on a busy street. The beds are comfortable and have four large pillows. There is lots and lots of counter space to put stuff and a large closet with ample deluxe hangers and large flat screen TV. The room lighting is well done and easy to operate. Some other really nice features are very fast elevators, unbelievably good water pressure with almost instant hot water, in bathroom mounted hair dryer, a 24 hour 7/11 mini store next to the hotel and there is a seeming endless supply of instantly available taxis at the hotel front door. The A/C is quiet and efficient, and you can keep get an extra room key and keep the A/C on when you are out of the room. The hotel restaurant serves a nice selection of well prepared food, and all the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The internet is free and worked about 90% of the time, but it is slow. The check-in procedure is very slow. My room was prepaid, but it still took almost a half an hour to check in. There is a very, very small refrigerator but it does not cool, at all. I pointed this out to the staff, but they didn’t seem to care and actually told me I was wrong though the contents were at room temperature. Some other negatives are the bathroom has no vent fan and the hotel room service closes at 10:00 PM. The power outlets are not well placed, so your devices have to sit on a chair next to an outlet to be charged. The positives at the Executive Plaza Hotel far outweigh the few negatives, and this hotel is definitely a good value. I will seek this hotel on future visits to Malate. It is one of the few, if not only, budget hotels in the area that offer king size beds.

Executive Plaza Hotel Experiences”

Friendly, very helpful and accommodating staff. Good central location. Clean room.
Expensive drinks in restaurant. Restaurant not very comfortable - should be more cozy atmosphere for the prices. Restaurant staff needs some better training in customer relations. Overall, the restaurant was the weakest point.

I selected the executive Plaza Hotel in Manila for my recent stay based upon the positive reviews, central location, and room prices. My experience there was very positive, starting with the check in procedure and staff and ending with a late check out and efficient check out procedure. The room was very clean and nice size with the only disappointment being the "fake" window by the air conditioner and the air conditioner controls. The restaurant was not furnished comfortably and the staff could be a little better trained, but the food was tasty and fairly priced. However, with all of the restaurants and bars in the area, there are many better places to drink. overall I rate the stay a 4.5 on the 5 point scale. i would definitely stay there again!

Awesome Hotel”

Very clean, quiet, easy access to public transport and shops/malls
None

All my requests prior to my check in were granted. Much appreciated was the quick and easy check in. I even paid my deposit in cash half of the usual deposit. Check in personnel were very nice, served with a smile and considerate. The hotel is located at the heart of Malate, easy access to shops, malls and public transports. To those who loves casinos, a PAGCOR casino is just accross the hotel's entrance. Safety and security is palpable, safety boxes are available in the hotel's reception desk. Luggage storage was free. Very affordable nightly rates, deluxe room is quite big for the nightly rates compared to other hotels I've stayed in Malate area. Wi-fi internet is available for a cheap fee. Each room has its own AC box. They have their own small restaurant too, menu is not that exceptional though. In summary, on my next trip to Manila, I will definitely stay in this hotel again and would most likely recommend this to my family and friends.

Stay at Executive Plaza”

Staff are generally efficient, polite and professional
Front desk staff are a tad bit unorganized

Whenever I'm in Manila I always try to get a room at Executive Plaza first. This is usually accomplished through Agoda as I find that the rates are better and Executive Plaza Staff generally receive notice promptly. The rooms are clean and the water pressure hot. Things to watch out for however are few: 1. Request to have all minibar items and other items for sale removed from room. There is a 7/11 right next door to the hotel and you can stock the refrigerator with whatever you need for a 10th of the price. 2. Internet/Wifi costs are exorbitant! If you have your laptop with you there are NUMEROUS free Wifi spots available like the mall (Robinsons), G-Point, LA Cafe and many other locations withing a block or two. Moreover there is an internet cafe about two buildings away. See the large signs or ask any of the vendors, kids or local business people you will see milling about. Once you have beat those two price gauging issues it is a pretty nice place to stay. Ask for a room on a higher floor and you will hear no outside noises. A good point to consider is print out your hotel confirmation itinerary as front desk staff may have difficulty locating your reservation. Have 1000PHP handy as they ALWAYS request it for "incidentals" i.e room damages or minibar purchases. If you followed my earlier instructions it will be refunded to you cheerfully upon check out. Final tip, upon check out if heading to the airport (NAIA) or anyplace else ALWAYS request a white METERED Taxi. DO NOT ACCEPT any special deals from the drivers. As soon as they start asking, requesting, pleading for more or ANY surcharge tell them to drop you off and let you take ANOTHER taxi. The nonsense will come to a SCREECHING halt! INGAT!!!!

Best hotel for the money in Manila”

Best rooms, professional staff, good dining area

I am a frequent guest at this hotel. I have experimented with several others, and they always fall short of the Executive Plaza. For the money, there is no better place to stay in Manila. Malate has a variety of shopping and entertainment experiences to offer, and returning to this hotel is like coming home. You won't be disappointed.

Executive plaza, Manila - nice hotel”

Comfortable room and bed, the hotel was clean and had a good atmosphere. Staff were helpful and the small restaurant/ coffee bar reasonably priced. Security was good. Hotel is in a very convenient position for everything.
there was nothing bad here, except perhaps the elevators were sometimes slow and we had to wait a little while, especially if a few people were waiting.

I have stayed at several local hotels around this district and this is the best so far. On my last visit to Manila I had very bad experience at the Eurotel Pedro Gill, where my bag (with all my money and cards) was stolen on the hotel terrace while I waited to check in, here at Executive Plaza the security is good and it is set back from the busy roads, so there are no problems. We were on the 9th floor, which was pleasantly quiet, unlike the Eurotel which was very noisy. Jeepneys and Taxis are available in front of the hotel so it is very convenient for getting around. Generally, I would recommend this hotel, also the price is very good for the standard of hotel and rooms.

this hotel is located at the heart of manila (malate) near the mall, restos, bar and casino... the location of this hotel is very accessible and it is very easy for you to get a cab if you want to go anywhere, the room is big and very clean, the staff is trustworthy, i just left my laptop, money, and other valuables inside my room and when i come back from outside the room is clean and none of my valuables is stolen, the security is good althought the place looks crowded because even at night there is a lot people walking around in the front of the hotel... beside the hotel there is a convinience store (7eleven) and money changer that also offer or give laundry service at lower cost... everything you need is in this place...

Awesome!”

Outstanding Staff. Great location. Very good for the money you spend.

I can't say enough about this hotel. I have stayed here for over 25 times now. Everytime I come here I really don't want to stay anywhere else. Lot of people say I stay here because of the price which is awesome too but I really stay here because of the hospitality. I feel at home everytime I stay here. The Manager (Gemma) and her staff make me feel like a family. I have not ever once had any issues with this hotel and staff. As a frequent traveler, it is hard to find a staff that would make you feel like you are at home. I would not stay anywhere else when I visit Manila. I really appreciate the accomodations that the staff of Executive Plaza hotel provides me. Thank you.

Spacious and Comfortable Rooms”

Large Rooms, Nice Room Furnishings, Good Location

Compared to other destinations in South East Asia, hotels in the Philippines tend to be expensive and / or offer rather poor value for money. If you can get a good rate through Agoda, the Executive Plaza offers comfortable, spacious, and nicely-furnished rooms for a reasonable price - at least by Manila standards. Don't expect a lot of other facilities and services though. There's no swimming pool or fitness centre and only one restaurant, although the quality of the food is not bad and the menu is fairly extensive. Ironically, as I presume it comes from the same kitchen, the food from room service usually borders on atrocious, and I stopped ordering from them after several culinary disasters. Standards of cleanliness are good, and the hotel has excellent security. Location is good, with easy access to taxis and other areas of the city, and close to shopping and dinning at Robinsons and other restaurants. There is a 7-11 handily situated right next door. The gaggle of beggars, hawkers and scammers hanging around outside can be a little disconcerting for the first-time visitor, but they are easily waived off. The hotel is now offering free wifi in the rooms but I was disappointed with the speed and reliability, which was nowhere near as good as when they charged for it as a separate item. Hopefully this will improve. I would also like to see in-room safes added as a standard feature. Overall, if you are looking for a safe and comfortable place to stay in the Malate/Ermita area, Executive Plaza is a good option.

Executive Plaza Review”

Location very close to Robinson Mall and night life.
You must pay for internet on an hourly rate.

If you are looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay while on your next trip to Manila, the Executive Plaza should really rank very high on your list. The rooms are clean and spacious. The location is close to the US Embassy and there is plenty of shopping available either at the Robinson Mall (5 minute walk) or a short taxi ride to the Mall of Asia (one of the largest malls in all of Asia). Also, the hotel is located about 12 km from Ninoy Aquino International Airport and is just 25 minutes by taxi. If you are budget minded and looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay on your next trip to Manila, this is the place I would highly recommend.

Great Location / Good Size Rooms”

Location, service, good ratio price/comfort

A lot of the reviews I read on this very same site before booking my room in this hotel were fairly accurate, except where some people complained about the hotel personnel not being so friendly. In my case, they were really nice all the way, so no complaints there. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom quality is above what you would expect from such hotel. Big shower (so u can easily be two people showering at the same time if that's your thing), hairdryer, nice sink top with room to place your belongings. The location is very good depending on what you're looking for. Indeed there is quite a bit of cacophony once you step out of the hotel and you're immediately plunged into some urban jungle of KTV Bars, traffic, beggars, hustlers (mostly at night) trying to get your attention. That being said, at no point did I ever feel in danger. Just use common sense and do not overdress, carry jewelry or make it easy for someone to steal your wallet. What I recommend are the wallet strap on belts that wrap around your waist which is then covered by your shirt. A great asset of the location is the nice Robinson Mall which is right around the corner. There one can find pretty much everything from great restaurants to supermarket shopping... And it's air-conditioned... and there is free wi-fi on the entire premise. Speaking of wi-fi, the hotel provides it, but at a great cost. Others have complained and I join them in stating that charging $10 for 4 hours of Internet usage in the room is just too much. They really need to bring this fee down considering other hotels offer it for free. Overall a good experience for a very competitive price and great location in particular if you are a single man and into the nightlife.

Executive Plaza Hotel - Highly Recommended!”

*Bang for bucks *Air-cond and hot shower *The standard room is of decent size *Extremely clean *Good Security *Within walking distance to bars and shopping centres, etc. *Not too far from the airport (around 300 peso by taxi)
*Could get a bit noisy as the location of the hotel is off a busy street *Look elsewhere if you want a view from the room *No pool *Two small bottles of water from the bar fridge costed almost 300 peso as I only found out when checking out of the room

I booked my first night at the Executive Plaza Hotel through Agoda. It was quite cheap so I didnt have high expectations. Although I read some reviews on Agoda and they all seemed to be positive but I thought I wont get my hopes up. The hotel is closer to the Airport than I thought but the airport taxi charged me 530 peso anyway. Upon arrival, the staffs had friendly smiles, the paper work didnt take long, left them with a grand peso of deposit and I was brought to my room. It was spotless, not view from the window but nevertheless at least it had one, given the price I paid there was virtually nothing I could complaint. However, the next morning I went to the reception trying to secure my room for the next two nights and was told that the room charge was 1000 peso per night more over the counter than at agoda.com.

executive plaza hotel is superb”

well updated hotel in the middle of a busy area in manila. accessible to all amenties you could find. nearest to robinsons galleria, department of tourism, roxas boulevard, international airport. quite comeptitive hotel and it didnt disappoint.
too busy streets alongside and narrow entrance to the hotel. the room temperature is set to a low level making it less cold all throughtout our stay but we did manage to settle and made ourself comfortable in few more minutes.

executive plaza hotel is the cheapest yet competitive hotel in the heart of malate. accessibility to robinsons, airport and other means of transport such lrt and other vehicle is great. i was not expecting it to be this fantastic because of surrounding 5 star hotels nearby. it took me just at least 20 minutes to get back to the airport and the service they offered is efficient and effective. i have nothing but good things to say to this hotelo. i am genuinely impressed. i just wished they could do better with their immediate surrounding as this really kills the view. i did enjoy my short stay their and will be planning to stay soonest.

We spent a few days here at first, we liked it so much we booked another 5 days for when we returned to Manila from Palawan. The staff were very friendly and we left our large luggage with the guys at the door and travelled light to Palawan. Our luggage was kept in a secure room. Executive Plaza hotel, Manila”

Nice sized, super clean room and bathroom. Good price, right in the middle of Malate - close to night life and shops.
Quite a lot of street noise - but this is Manila!

Just stayed here for one night, would have no problem staying longer here. The room, and bathroom, was exceptionally clean, polished almost. The staff were helpful and friendly (I left my bag in a secure place in the lobby for the whole day after I'd checked out, no problem). Really close to the night life around Adriatico street, also Robinson's Mall and the Manila Bay promenade along Roxas Blvd. Only problem was that you get all the street noise from Malate (which is 24 hour) in the room.

Right in the centre of the entertainment district”

Great security, professional courteous staff

The Executive Plaza is on Mabini Street, right in the middle of Malate's entertainment district. This is great if you're looking for that area, but it comes with the usual variety of vendors, beggars, streetwalkers etc that frequent such areas which can be confronting for those not used to such things. The restaurant food was of average quality and price but the staff performance throughout the hotel was very professional and friendly at all times. The hotel's security is very good with all guests requiring ID to enter and a phone call to the room to check before they leave. Facilities are not quite five star, but are of a good quality, especially for Manila. It's about a 2-3 minute walk away from Robinson's Mall with all the shopping you could want and if you want more it's maybe 20 minutes taxi ride from Mall of Asia.
