I came from Dutch Harbor for one day in Anchorage and this hotel had the cheapest value. Got an upgrade for a King Bed and it was lovely and clean. Super friendly staff. Just no breakfast due to Covid-16_

Lots of child-adults there including a woman and man yelling, cursing, and sometimes screaming at each other down the hall at 1am. Hotel staff either unwilling or unable to control or resolve the problem people. The conflict carried on for over half an hour.

Unexpected Stay”
Due to emergency needed an unexpected stay in ANC. Although hotel undergoing significant renovation our room was immaculate and remodeled. Staff was fantastic. We didn’t use facilities and some were unavailable. Breakfast great coffee and tea, breakfast bars, and Quaker instant oatmeal. Nothing spectacular but no complaints because for the price didn’t expect pancakes and eggs. Thank you to the staff who turned a disaster into a great stay.

Prebooked a room for 2 nights. When we arrived to check in, there were no rooms ready even though it was almost 5 pm. After waiting almost 20 minutes, we were given a room number. Upon entering the room, there were towels piled on the floor and the bedding in a pile. We returned to the front desk and were allocated a new room. The rooms have a kitchen and you have to ask for anything you need to cook with, although the impression I received was that they did not have anything to give if we had wanted it. You are meant to have a parking pass, but you guessed it, they had run out and the free breakfast turned out to be nothing on the first morning and coffee, muesli bars and instant oats with no milk on the second. The 2nd room was clean and tidy, But having to go out and buy breakfast at $25 made it a much more expensive room than it should have been.

Our original hotel reservations were cancelled one week before our vacation started. Needing a hotel with 3 rooms on that short of notice, I didn't have many choices. We were going to be in Anchorage for 10 days. I have to say our overall stay was not what I would expect of any hotel. Our room was never cleaned. At least they could have touched up our bathrooms.. The hallways and stairs were not vaccumed. We had to go to the front desk for clean towels, toilet paper and Kleenex. The girl at the front desk was very accommodating and friendly. The beds were comfortable and we like having the larger refrigerators in our rooms. The closeness to downtown and shopping was a plus for them.

The rooms were nice, the only thing I really didnt liked was when we first got a room, we walked into the room we were given, and it wasn't even cleaned yet. A bed was completely flipped over and the window was wide open. My significant other had to go and tell the front desk about it, but they immediately gave us a new and cleaned room.

Disappointing”
Some of our bedsheets had weird stains, rarely any complimentary toiletries available (constantly heard “we’re out” from the staff for things... during peak tourist season??? They didn’t even have a bandaid when I needed one!) Also this hotel rarely had the free “grab and go” breakfast that was promised. On the rare occasion the breakfast was available, there were expired cookies and muffins put out. It was also unclear when I booked that our room would not include the stovetop (though the website makes it sound like all rooms have a “fully equipped kitchen”). I booked this hotel hoping to save money on food during this business trip by getting breakfast at the hotel or cooking using the stovetop for other meals, which was not possible. Overall, very disappointed in my experience.

I Got Ripped Off”
I got checked in by a teenager wearing a Nirvana t-shirt who specifically told me that there was a complimentary breakfast in the morning. I went to my room and discovered that the AC/heat did NOT work (85 degrees in Anchorage that day). I went back to the front desk to tell Miss Nirvana. She said the maintenance man would fix it the following day. I pointed out that I was only staying 1 night and asked to be moved to another room. She couldn't do that because the hotel was already overbooked by 3 rooms (I guess 3 people with reservations got there late only to be told that they didn't have rooms for them!) I asked if everyone had checked in yet and was told no. Great, move me to a room that has functioning AC. Miss Nirvana said they couldn't do that because it was against policy. I asked to see the manager. I was told I could see her the next day after 8:00 AM. I told Miss Nirvana that I wanted a fan. She told me that they didn't have any in the entire hotel (liar). I was screwed for the night, so I went back to the room and found that (luckily) the window would open. Despite the lack of a screen, I opened it all the way and got the room down to a bearable temperature, plus a few bugs, by bedtime. The next morning. My wife and I went down for breakfast early to beat the rush. For a hotel that contained close to 200 people, the breakfast was 1 carafe of coffee with 1 box of 6 granola bars! That was it! When I checked out, I told the new desk clerk (who was dressed like an adult at work) that the AC in my room didn't work. She said she was sorry, but her maintenance man was out until the next day. She added my room to the list she was making of rooms with broken equipment. I asked her if I could have a discount since I paid for a room with AC and was given a room without AC. She said that she wasn't authorized to do that. I asked to speak to the manager since it was a few minutes after 8:00. She told me the manager was in a meeting (how convenient!) but she would

Dirty Room, Rude Staff”
1) Front desk Julie was doing nothing but she asked me to wait before she helped me as she is "busy" -- there was no other customer than me. I stood in line while I was waiting, a customer cut me off and Julie helped that customer instead -- I felt really discriminated. 2) Julie gave me the access card to the hotel room 412, I went up to the 4th floor with all our bagggages and with my 1 year old baby, but the card doesn't work! I went down to front desk, asked Julie for help, she rescan the card and basically said here you go -- I went back up to the 4th floor -- but the card doesn't work! BABY is waiting outside the room with his mom -- this is frustrating. I went back down to frond desk, asked Julie to please accompany me, she gave me a new card and said try that -- It worked. 3) We found used underwear inside the hotel room right beside the bed --tells me the room was not cleaned! 4) Late that evening we tried to go back to the room and the access card is NOT WORKING AGAIN!!

Housekeeping came in and changed all the bedding. curtains were falling down it is a real hole in the wall hotel. Which is to bad because the state uses this a lot for patience with medical issues. I had paid for two different time periods for my son and his wife to stay in and since I went through Agoda there was not refunds so they just had to stay in this crappy hotel.

Filthy Nasty”
Arrived to a dirty lobby. Waited for staff to check in. Room key machine broken. Blood spattered all over inside of elevator. Large wad of hair stuck to “clean” shower towel. Tub shower did not drain. Cable TV barely watchable on some channels. Grab and go breakfast had nothing to grab. Out of coffee lids. Excuses that the property had no maintenance person. Staff was put out when requests were made. Suggestion: ESA should remove this franchise from the current franchisee and sell it to an entity that knows how to run a hotel. I would never recommend this property to anyone. It’s disgusting all the way around.

Didn’t accommodate ”
We were in the hotel around 1am just to know that our booking did not show up o their system. I cam from a 12 hour travel flight from AZ and just to get this rude service from the one in charge in the front desk. She did everything but still can’t see my booking and instead of accommodating us she sent us away to find another hotel around 1:30 am!! If I just got the energy I should have rant on her but I don’t want to stress my vacation and ruin my experience in Alaska. She told us she still have 5 rooms available but the moment she sent us away she told us find another hotel! Bad experience!!!!

Does not honor reservations”
I got to Anchorage after a long flight only to find that they had given my hotel room (which I had already reserved AND paid for) to someone else. The front desk said that "too many people extended their stays." I had a reservation, they should not have allowed them to extend their stays, period! Will never stay at an ESA, they cost me hundreds of dollars and somehow cannot grasp the base concept of what a reservation is.
