Great for families, wonderful staff, and great value”
Our stay at the Fairmont Peace Hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to China. My kids (6 and 9) loved it, and wanted to stay forever. From the instant we arrived, everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The facilities are beautiful, and full of history. They offer a tour of the building for guests who are interested, and it was a fascinating look at the history of this iconic building. The location is great, very central, and you can't get much closer to the Bund. The Metro is a few blocks away, but easily within walking distance. The Fairmont Peace Hotel is an iconic masterpiece that is beautifully maintained and staffed. No other hotel can beat it. Anytime I come to Shanghai, I will definitely be staying at the Fairmont Peace Hotel.
Superb location and such a lovely hotel. Staying at peace is an amazing experience. ”
Location was a big plus. Step out and left is the bund area and right is Nanjing road east. Both are must see at Shanghai. Service at peace is something outdistancing. Zoey at the concierge and her team was always there to support us. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Frankly nothing much to say as cons Staying at peace was a pleasant experience and would certainly recommend this place. Right outside is the bund area where a ferry could be taken at 2 rmb to cross to other side and walk across the other side of bund to see the pearl observatory and super brand (lotus) mall and museum n floating restaurant and many other places. This is much faster than even taking a taxi. Walk to old Shanghai n market area is about 20 25 minutes. Walk alongside the bund in the evening is lovely with the beautiful Shanghai skyline beautifully lit. Overall stay at peace was amazing experience and great value for money Thanks to agoda for the booking done. It was seamless and perfect 👍👏👏
Beautiful hotel with fantastic service and staff”
this hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels i have ever stayed at in the world. the rooms are true to history and beautifully restored. the staff is explemplary and catered to our special request above and beyond what we requested. the location is amazing as well. just a block to the bund and a block to east nanjing road (shopping), you couldn't ask for a better location. the east nanjing metro station is only two blocks away as well. i highly recommend the restaurants at the hotel as well. room service was quick and excellent. if you are looking for a quintesential shanghai hotel experience, stay at the fairmont peace!
An iconic hotel!”
The service is impeccable right from the start at the front reception to the bell service, the concierge, the room service and the chambermaids. It seemed that the hotel looked into every aspect of the guests' comfort and convenience. When you enter or leave the hotel, don't be surprised if you have been snapped as many tourists will stop to take a picture or do selfie shots at this iconic hotel on their way to or back from the Shanghai Bund. Cannot blame them as Fairmont Peace Hotel has a rich flamboyant history.
Tremendous Hotel”
We had heard about the Fairmont Peace Hotel but were blown away when we arrived - the awesome lobby was only the beginning. It is a great historic site and location on the Bund for your stay in Shanghai! Great facilities, excellent buffet breakfast each morning, and an extremely comfortable and quiet room. And don't miss walking through the museum on the 2nd floor for a further taste of the hotel's history. We would easily stay there in the future!
Great stay”
We had booked a gold room as we had a great experience at the Fairmont in Singapore. The hotel is on the Bund, and you only have to cross the road to get to the Bund promenade. The building is beautiful and inside completely decorated in art deco style. The room was so much better than the pictures on the website, it is big, nicely decorated and the bathroom is the best hotel bathroom I have seen. A free standing bath, seperate shower and toilet. A special area for your luggage and a coffee machine that makes great coffee. The room was very clean and the staff were fantastic. The gold lounge was very nice. We enjoyed the afternoon tea and the canapes at night. Harrison the Gold room manager was very friendly and helpfull. It is the second Fairmont we have stayed at, and I am looking forward to stay in more.
The hotel to choose in Shanghai”
Second time to this hotel and it never disappoint me. With its rich history and old Shanghai’s deco, the hotel is perfect for those who would like to feel the golden era of old Shanghai. Location wise it is right at the Bund so you could get to the Nanjing Pedastrian Street and the Huangpu River view just a few steps always. The room is big and comfy as all other Fairmont hotels but it has the unique old Shanghai elements. Room service was good, I like their Shanghainese breakfast set. The hotel has a open terrace at Level 9 with a perfect view of the Huangpu River, Lujiazui and the Bund.
SUPERBBBSS !!!!”
5 thumbs uppp for this hotel. centrally located, the view (you can see the bund), near shopping areas, bar rough, mr & mrs bund. the staff so nice and helpfull. my friend losing her wallet in the taxi, and we call the hotel for checking the wallet to the taxi driver. and you know what? the hotel call me and said that the wallet already in fairmont, the taxi driver send the wallet to the hotel because we must boarding very soon(can't go back to fairmont to take the wallet). the hotel staff said that they will send the wallet through FedEx express but sadly the FedEx won't send the wallet because it's high quality stuff. i hope the wallet safe in hotel until we back again to shangai. thankyou for peter zheng who help us ..
Incredible history, with excellent location”
what a spectacular hotel! its history is enough to sell the hotel, but add to this its excellent location (junction of the bund waterfront and nanjing dong lu retail strip), beautiful art-deco/colonial interior design, and very friendly staff, you will be a fantastic hotel. even though my room (definitely the cheapest one in the hotel) faces a courtyard, the room is incredibly spacious with its own walk-in wardrobe, passage way, alcove with study desk, large 3-seater sofa, and a white/black marble bathroom (with 2 sinks, a shower stall and claw-foot bath tub, with its personal tv). yet in this lofty hotel, the staff are incredibly personal and friendly! from evida (the smiley receptionist) to mimi (the friendly pool attendant) to eddy (the efficient and professional head waiter at cathay room) to the many room attendants, everybody showed passion and dedication! there are more glitzy hotels in shanghai (e.g. peninsula and waldorf astoria are more bright, shiny and gleamingly beautiful), but the peace is a historical institution that must be experienced. the only minor 'down' sides are: (a) no tea bags in the room (although there is a nespresso-like coffee machine); (b) rather plain swimming pool (very efficient 18 metre pool, but relatively unadorned environment); (c) limited photography permitted in the lobby. nevertheless, the negatives pale to the incredible positives of this charmed hotel!
Best service!!”
Fairmont peace hotel is the best hotel of The Bund zone, this hotel is in the center of Shanghai ,so you can go to travel around Shanghai easily. I had dinner on 9th floor in this hotel and it wonderful . On 9th floor you will see the best night view of Shanghai
Majestic hotel”
glorious, glorious hotel with history and charm. our family of 4 stayed in the standard but hugely spacious guestroom with 2 queen size beds. the standard room was well appointed with modern decor and fixtures, and the beds were heavenly with beautiful soft linens. there was also a sofa , a walk in closet, and an enormous bathroom suite. one of the oldest jazz bands in shanghai plays in the downstairs pub, while a trio string orchestra played nightly in the foyer area. my young daughters danced in the foyer every night while the trio played their cello and violins. the breakfast buffet was nice with standard offerings. the location was superb, 1 block away from the bund and the entrance to the bund tunnel. also, a few blocks away to the subway station (which is really easy to use for tourists). customer service is as outstanding as you'd expect with a hotel this superb. i can't really find a downside to this hotel. i'd be surprised if anyone was disappointed.
Nice and worth of stay hotel ”
We are pleasured to book Fairmont gold room accessible to the gold lounge for 3 nights. The hotel located walking distance to the bund. The scenery of the bund is the must to visit in Shanghai. The room is clean and spacious. We enjoyed breakfast as well as the afternoon tea and evening cocktails offered by the hotel gold lounge. This is truly a worth of stay to us and we will definitely go back.
fantastic location to everything, amazing service”
After 3 weeks traveling China, the Peace hotel was a respite in a busy cosmopolitan city, beautifully restored to its 1929 heritage, but modern in every way.we had 2 rooms for our family of teenage girls and ourselves, rooms large with stunning en suites, dressing rooms and access to a fantastic pool, and sauna. Staff were just wonderful and made every effort to ensure our stay in Shanghai was a wonderful experience. PEace hotel is right on the bund, with access to the Tourist tunnel just opposite the hotel. great eateries close, and very close to the fabric market(a must for tailored clothing) and najing road market.
This hotel is an experience not to be missed”
The Fairmont rates right up there with the best hotels I have ever stayed at. From check-in to check-out, the service has been impeccable, the quality superb and the surroundings just beautiful. The staff also helped arrange a small birthday party in the Cathey Rooftop bar for 5 people, and everyone just did a fantastic job. The person I will remember the most is Kitty, who went out of her way to ensure our check in went smoothly (we arrived early so left our luggage to go shopping) and when we came back later everything was sorted and they recognised me by name. Kitty also took helped me arrange a cake as well as spoke to the rooftop to ensure they knew we were coming. Service just above and beyond from this amazing young woman. The birthday party was excellent and the rooftop bar amazing. Our room was stunning and very comfortable, also a great size. The bed was luxuriously comfy and I slept like a baby. There is nothing I can fault with my stay at the Fairmont Peace Hotel.
Excellent anniversary celebration”
My husband and I decided to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary in style at the Fairmont hotel this year. We had high expectations seeing as it was a very expensive and well-received hotel and we were not disappointed. - Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - Room was big and beautiful (we especially loved the bathroom) - Bed was the best bed I've ever laid on (and we've stayed at LOTS of hotels) - We got a complimentary chocolate cake as an anniversary surprise which was so delicious! - Staff took our picture and framed it as an additional little gift that we found after coming home from a mediocre dining experience at M on the Bund. - Gym was gorgeous! Loved the showers and steam room - Pool was relaxing and hit the spot - Ample water and complimentary tea given - We asked for a late check out and the staff gave it to us without hesitation - Check in and check out were flawless and everyone at the front desk was so cheerful and made us feel extremely important and welcome All in all, I'd definitely stay again if I had the money. It was the perfect stay!
Classy without being stuffy!”
Our weekend get-away in Shanghai was made all the more memorable by our stay at the Fairmont Peace Hotel. The location is unparalleled, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We received a lot of advice on getting around, as well as assistance in making restaurant reservation and transport services. We did forget an item in our room, and hope that the Hotel will help us look for it. Otherwise, we would highly recommend the Fairmont Peacr Hotel!
Sublime piece of old shanghai with modern comforts”
It was our first trip to shanghai and we wanted a piece of history and relive the grandeur of bygone shanghai era. Hence we decided to splurge as it was our wedding anniversary and fairmont peace was very thoughtful to upgrade us to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. There was also a lovely cheesecake and fruit platter waiting for us. The suite was huge with a living room, bedroom, bathroom and powder room. It truly blown us away and is the most beautiful hotel suite that we ever stayed in. The decor was modern classic with understated elegance and we really feel pampered during the stay. Service was helpful but could be improved as it felt like the staff were very young and eager to please but lacked training. The general staff like bellboy, doorman can also be more friendly and courteous as they don't greet you with a smile. Some improvement in the service area and this would be a perfect hotel!
The Only Place to Stay on First Visit To Shanghai”
I had stayed at the old Peace Hotel, a fading icon of the pre Communist era that kept alive some of the old traditions in a gloriously decrepit fashion - on my return with my wife to celebrate her birthday in 2014 we were amazed to find the building beautifully renovated by the Fairmont Group. We upgraded to a suite at a very favourable rate and enjoyed the atmosphere of the Grand Old Dame right on the Bund. Some of the same old Chinese musicians were still cranking out renditions of old jazz numbers in the bar and the hotel made the stay particularly memorable.
self-pampering treat”
Excellent hotel with old-world charm and stunning original 30s decor. We took advantage of the great value of the upgrade to a Fairmont Gold with the lounge services - thank you Melanie for your attention to our needs. Enjoyed the Saturday tea dance and petits-fours in the Jasmine rooms and the spa and pool - a very relaxing way to spend a weekend self-pampering. The weather turned smoggy while we were there, so no need for a room with a view, but the hotel is right on the Bund for all the waterside life and light-shows if you take a stroll.
great location on the bund”
great hotel and part of the raffles chain. unfortunately china being china its run teh chinese way and not the way a 5 star opulent grand hotel with such a great reputation should be run. staff are poorly trained and instructed, it shows when you walk inside and they start hiding instead of saying hello like all otehr hotel staff do. the experience of staying in such a grand hotel needs to be followed through, but the staff fail it. inside the main entrance security guards stop guests from photographing the interior, its a crazy policy. this place has so much potential but needs an analytical business mind to get it pumping, not a govt communist static mind. the gift store doesnt sell any souvenirs of the historic hotel, cant understand why!! the jazz bar is great and lives up to the reputation. by far the most outstanding member is the assist director of food and bevrages miss. patricia. this lady is trying so much to improve the place howevever appears to be hitting her head against a brick wall with staff who dont perform. the jazz bar waiters though are so professional, best i have seen in years. the place needs a hip vibe rooftop bar to get things going as its got a great view of shanghai, pudonga nd the bund from the rooftop.
