Second time at Zimbali. Pretty place indeed so went 2 times in a row. My only thing is the restaurant that offers buffet should really get on the staff to take care of customers. I personally wanted to go and try the Indian one downstairs because I remembered that the service upstairs was lacking even last yr 2018, but since it was my mothers pick, we had to endure yet another experience being ignored. After serving ourselves at the buffet we ate all that food and never got attended to for drinks. I would try and flag someone down but they would look away or mind a larger group, I suppose for better tips🤷🏿♀️. Anyways I love the restaurant for breakfast, especially when the sun is out and we have proper Durban weather. All in all I’d recommend Zimbali. I hope I get a chance to come back again for the 3rd time in a row. Bliss Spar is magical! That’s one of my highlights at the resort!

Splendid weekend ”
Our stay at the gorgeous and highly glorified Fairmont Zimbali Resort was splendid, from checking in to our dwelling place. Our suite was amazing!!! The views and scenery were breathtaking, breakfast was great and the variety of food was good. I would come back for that breakfast buffet anytime *hides* Our afternoon we spent on checking out the vicinity and it’s amenities. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon sun bathing by the poolside and it was very therapeutic for us. A really great stay indeed. However, we didn’t take kindly to some of the staff at reception. Check in was good and well done *given*, but trying to get through to room service that evening was a nightmare, no one answered the phone when we tried to place an order, even reception (dial 9) didn’t pick up, we ended up going to town to buy dinner. Otherwise we enjoyed everything.

The shuttle service in to Ballito, shopping centers was good Both breakfast and dinner buffet was good A nice Wine bar with a nice view over the sea and a good Caesar salad. First we got rooms without balcony , and when we were there it was a bad weather, raining and thunder a lot so we asked for rooms with balconys so that we didn't have to be inside. We got 2 rooms with balconys , but one room had a bad smell, like someone had smoked there before. My son have asthma and couldn't stay there. But we had that feeling that we didn't want to "give more problem" We already got help to have rooms with balconys so we didn't want to go there one more time to ask for one more new room. Me and my husband stayed in that room. And we appreciate that we could sit outside. Our last day we asked for late check out and finally we got one of the rooms up to 2 a clock We appreciate that so much We had very good service to first have rooms with balconys and then could have the late checkout.

Birthday celebration stay a bit disappointing”
I booked a stay at the resort to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Was looking forward to a relaxing Easter weekend with our one year old baby. I had called the resort a week before arriving to confirm that we would require a baby cot in our room. I also confirmed again on the morning before checking in that a cot would be ready for our baby in our room on arrival. When we checked into our room at 4pm it had not been cleaned, the bathroom basin was blocked, there was no cot provided and we had to ask three times for it to be brought to our room. No cot arrived and our baby had to share our bed on the first night. The next morning, we complained at reception and were only then told that no cots were available and the hotel would be purchasing more that day. Highly annoyed that this was not communicated when we had requested the previous day. Staff in general do not appear to be well trained or informed about the resort. We enquired on two occasions about a heated pool on the premises, and hotel staff claimed that none of the pools were heated. Only found out on our last day that there was a heated pool at the Valley of Pools. The waitress at the Bite pool cafe did not know what scrambled eggs were?? Very disappointed that such a beautiful resort in a fantastic location is being let down but such poor service. Staff were generally friendly but not well trained at all. No map was provided of the estate and family dining options were limited, due to a large party having booked the normal buffet restaurant out for the entire weekend. Our long weekend break was generally pleasant but would only consider staying there again once the staff have had a serious service training upgrade.

The resort was amazing, spacious rooms with beautiful view of the pool and ocean, The buffet was fantastic and we really enjoyed the food at the restaurants. The spa was so relaxing and the massage was really good felt so fresh after leaving the spa. The staff were so friendly and cheerful, we had a great stay and had a nice relaxing anniversary.

Wifi-less rooms 5star hotel”
I really like the hotel except for the fact that, to get wifi, you have to be in the public areas. For a five star hotel this is diabolical. Heck, I've got wifi in every room in my house!! How difficult can it be for a five star hotel. Increase rates if you need to and hide the costs of it there. Second biggest problem I had with this hotel is the fact that the Bar Fridges have not just been emptied, they have even been switched off. Worse, you only discover this when you get to your room. No one informs you of this when you check in so that you can request them to stick the fridge or at least switch it on so that you can have ice cubes and cold water whenever you want. When I enquired about the empty Bar Fridge I was told it's because people steal drinks. Really??? Every hotel on earth has measures to curb this. How about investing in technology that electronically and remotely records each item as it gets removed from the fridge. These guys are not serious about running a five star hotel. A pity cause the hotel itself is beautiful and has unparalleled sea views

We booked 3 days before our stay and had no problems checking in. Special mention must be made of Devashan at reception. Polite young man who explained facilities to us. Excellent meals at 2 restaurants we had dinner at. Good value for money. Breakfast a buffet treat. All staff polite and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the pools and poolside food and drinks. Will definitely revisit. Suite rooms very spacious.

The breakfast was one of the best buffet breakfasts I've ever had and the staff are friendly and very professional. The room needed a slight clean but that's just a really minor issue. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful place and we enjoyed our stay but the service was quite slow if you needed something ”
They can do better on service in terms of the response time they take too long to come back you have to make several reminders with the guest service like my wife needed a sewing kit we waited and waited until she had to make a follow up . She enquired about the steam in the menu and the person promised to come back and they never did . My booking using a reference number could not be found as I was told it went through central reservations in Dubai then I rebooked on the system then it arrived and suddenly I had more than one booking and the first one had to be cancelled . I was happy with how they prepared the room as we celebrated our 21 yrs wedding anniversary. It took for ever to have the rooms ready only at 16h00pm when I booked we were told we could be there between 10h00am and 11h00am and we got there about 11h30 am . The staff was friendly at the reception and tried their best to service us I can’t faulter them . The golf card also took for ever to fetch us from bush park club

My first time experience, the room had a a funny smell like damp.. I was moved to another room which had cockroaches ... 1-Each time I opened a bar fridge there were more than 5 cockroaches... That needs so much attention. 2- Constant incidents where people knocked and just opened the door without being patient enough to wait for response as I was mostly relaxing or sleeping. The price is exhaubitent for the service

1st room checked into did not look clean & faulty light that we complained about 3 times. Moved to another room but the toilet was not cleaned. Staff & manager on duty though were helpful. So service was excellent.

Staff desperately need service training. Wait staff at the restaurants and some cleaning staff are very obnoxious, arrogant and lazy. Our room had serious maintenance issues that speaks very poorly of management and a severe lack of attention to detail. The privacy screen on our balcony was broken and the mirror in our bathroom was badly cracked. On the flip side our complaints were attended to promptly and efficiently. The manner in which our concerns were dealt with was very professional and Priscilla was extremely apologetic and went to some lengths to ensure that our stay was memorable. Nothing was too much of an issue and we appreciate that.
