We went to Kathmandu to start here the Annapurna Circuit. And it was the best dessicion to stay at the famous house. The guys from the Hotel we‘re so friendly and kind! They helped us organizing all stuff we needed for the circuit and guided us through the City to find everything. In Addition to that we could leave some stuff at the Hotel for free during the hike. Although their was a big festival when we stayed there they arranged a bus for us to Besisahar the next day. So Thea are really really helpful. They gave us their phone number and told us to call them if something will happen on the hike what makes us feel save during the whole hike. Thanks for that!!! The rooms are clean and they have a warm shower and we had a really delicious dinner on the beautiful Rooftop! So yes we will come back and can highly reccomend this Hotel to everyone. Dhaanebad

Nice clean and quiet place a bit outside of crazy Thamel”
I'm happy that I found Famous House - it is located in 10 minutes walk from Thamel, nice, clean, with great staff. So you can easily enjoy party time when you want and have quiet nights to sleep and mornings with breakfast at roof top bar. Staff is nice, kind and helpful. I went for trekking and they allowed me to leave some laggage (to be lighter on the way to Everest base camp) - that was cool. Thank you!

Comfortable hostel”
Famous house is a lovely little place, placed just a few minutes from Thamel. Nice and quiet. The staff members are very service minded and makes your stay lovely. Breakfast is included in your stay and that is really nice. My friend and I will recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a amazing place with good breakfast.

Great value, great location”
I stayed at Famous House Hostel for 4 nights. The whole place was really clean, staff very friendly, great little restaurant on roof top, clean beds with good pillow and duvet (cold at night), towel included. Comfy beds. Showers were amazing!! VERY hot water in the morning that never runs out. I asked for someone to meet me at the airport and they were there waiting for me even though my flight was 2.5 hours delayed! The kitchen boys were really great too. Great food and Masala tea ;) I would definitely go back. My only complaint is that there is smoking allowed in the common area although there was only one time out of 4 days that it bothered me.

i booked in agoda for only 4 dollars in one night and expected to be staying in a regular guesthouse with that price. turned out i made an excellent choice so i extended my stay fot two more nights... just few minutes walk from thamel, very nice staff, clean dorm room, big locker, good wifi connection, hot shower, blankets and towels provided, quite neighborhood and i booked a bus ticket to pokhara there at the cheapest price. love this place and i will be staying here on the holi festival

Staffs are very friendly. The room is nice and clean. You can enjoy the city view from roof top. The price is suitable for solo traveller like me and backpacker. The location is 10 min walking distacnce from Thamel.

I highly recommend Famous House Kathmandu”
I had a very good experience in this hostel...twice. First time they allow me to leave there all my stuff in order to not carry my heaviest things on hiking. Second it was great to rest because is near to Thamel but not inside most crowded area. Owner and staff helped me with everything I needed. Thanks guys

Nice quiet hostel”
I like everything about it save that the toilet could be cleaner or at least place a wiper in the toilet for the guests to drain the water on their own. The location is not too far from Thamel in a quiet area. Dorm bed is comfortable with a good locker. Staffs are friendly and helpful. It has a restaurant as well but I didn't try the food. Wi-Fi worked most of the time during my stay. Overall it's a nice stay in this hostel.

The hotel is not in thamel but not far away,the bed is clean, hot water is supported for 24 hours,but the restaurant upstairs was too noisy for me to fall asleep，their music was so loudly and didn't care about others until the midnight,it was terrible

It's Kathmandu”
It's a nice place, the shower and rooms are in good condition, they get cleaned every day but when travellers don't take care of their dirty feed and so on, it can be dirty. In 6 days I had just two times water, the internet is slow and needs to get restarted as well from now and than. All the bad things though will happen everywhere here in Kathmandu therfore the value for money is good! The kitchen could stay open longer, and the chill out area could be a bit more back packers cozy like. But met cool people here and it's really close to the Indian embassy.

Kathmandu Hostel style. If you are like 20 years old, traveling alone or just stay for one night and used to use hostels you might like it. Breakfast is okay even tho every option from the menue looks exactly the same (just stick with the cheapest one). For Dinner you have more choices and it is quite good. The staff is a bit pushy in trying to sell you diffrent kind of tours or adventure tours /guides. It was very loud in our room cause it was close to a field where kids were playing soccer all day long starting very early in the morning. During night you can listen eather to the fighting and barking street dogs and getting bite by Moskitos all night ore you listen to the very loud fan in the room and getting sweaty anyway. All in all it was okay. But we probably spend a little more mony next time for a own bathroom and a Moskito net.

The best, helpful, friendly, kind staff who became friends. Good food, comfortable, clean beds/rooms. Hot shower, decent WiFi, TV with box for sports, etc. in upstairs lounge/eating area. Great view from the rooftop. I miss you. I literally fell in love here - with another guest, but also with the place and many wonderful people (staff and guests). The dormitory and the shower room are really clean. 24 hrs hot shower is really nice. I got a nice view on the rooftop resturant. And the staff are really warm and friendly to inform a lot of things about my trekking plan. Thank you for your kindness! I will come back again after my trekking!

A little bit out of expected than reviews I read”
My friend and I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights. First night, we were very satisfied with the mixed dorm and cleanliness in bathrooms when we stayed at second floor. After arrival, I did mention to receptionist that we wanted to go out around 5am the next morning as I had booked a day tour, I was told reception could be 24 hours. I thought so...... The next morning, the gate of hostel was locked, I could not find anyone at 5.15am when I went to the reception. Ended up, I found the back wooden doors could be opened and we climbed out from the back gate. It was funny! We moved to double room after the first night, it was on first floor. Something happened on the second night, it terrified me! Well, we forgot to lock our room. I was sleeping very well until someone was touching on top of my blanket around 3.40am, he was sitting next to my bed, after a while he stood up and watching I slept for few minutes. I was so scared, kept pretending sleep and wondering would he be leaving soon. But NOT! Suddenly, I decided to scream like hell, then the guy ran out quickly. We told the receptionist what happened in the morning, but he said he opened door for a drunkard around 3am, he said could be the drunkard. I could tell it wasn't a drunk guy as he ran very fast. But i guess i will never know who's the guy. It was a very scary night for me!!! Third night, the wifi wasn't working until the next morning. About the bathroom cleanliness on first floor, it was not so clean. The location is not really good for us as the way back to the hostel from the street is quite dark at night. At night, you could hear dogs barking. Probably you could get a better hostel at more strategic location with safer way if you like to go back hostel at night. The price is very affordable if you are looking for a budget hostel. After all, staffs are friendly and having breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was nice.

Great value for the money. Friendly staff. Met owner and his lovely wife. Good food and reasonable, after eating Nepalese set dinner twice daily I wanted just fresh vegetables and rice, The cooks were glad to accommodate my request. Will return again. The 3rd floor bathroom needed more attention as far as cleaness
