Great, comfortable hostel”
I stayed one night at the Fastbook Hostel, which I chose mainly for its proximity to Kek Lok Si. While I was disappointed that rain caused the cancellation of the night markets at Kek Lok Si, an early night meant I was able to walk to the temple for dawn, and a late check out time (midday) meant I could come back and pack afterwards. The hostel itself was great, with friendly host, airconditioning and a comfortable bed. Best of all, it's in amongst great hawker stands!

Nice room in Air Itam”
The hostel is close to the Air Itam market, Kek Lok Si and the Air Itam dam, but it will be good if you have your own transport to move around. The room is nice with air conditioning, toilet is clean with heater. There is a grocery store just next to the hostel. Be ready to exercise your leg as the room located at 4th floor (without lift).

A worth place to stay”
It is a very good time staying at the Fastbook Hostel, near the Hostel got a lot food to try and eat, below the hostel also got a 24 hour mini market, it is nice.

Nice place, a bit like homestay”
Enjoyed our stay in fastbook hostel. Location was quite far from georgetown but close to kek lok si temple and penang hill. Also the bus to town is really cheap. Lots of food options nearby and nice local people. Only minus was load room neighbours early in the morning and bedheets were very old looking.

Comfortable stay with friendly owner”
We felt easy and free. Although the walls were thin, even thare were 7 rooms altogether, we were not disturbed by conversations and noise. We stayed in deluxe room. Room layout was good because only washroom is housed and toilet(common) was located outside the room. Check-in and check-out were simple and fast. Water ran out from the tap in the room was not clean enough but drinking water is available in the kitchen. We consider one table for a room was not enough. Location of the hostel is not so good. We had to take a bus to Kek Lok Si Temple. However, many eating stalls gathered around Fastbook. For us, vegetarian restaurants were not nearby but two of them could be found around a market few bus stations away.

got peaceful and satisfy time in room. got penang map. local food courts are very near to hostel. just in front of hotel. We'd like to stay there again when we arrive back to Penang.

Cheap, clean, excellent service”
The place is very clean and well kept. And for the price you are paying, it's a very good deal. Rooms are also well decorated. The owner is also very friendly and very customer service oriented. We pre-informed that we'll be checking in past midnight and he (sorry forgotten his name) has been SMS-ing to inform us the location, checking on our whereabouts and whether we know how to get there, offering tips and advises, etc... Wouldn't mind staying there again. The only fallback is that if you have huge & heavy luggage, you'll not enjoy climbing 4 storey high. Well take it as an exercise

love the room so much, so neat and tidy, comfortable, good environment too.. it feels like my own room. In front of the hostel is the bus stop, it is easy to access to the public transport (to Komtar, jetty..etc). there are a lot of food stalls around the hostel, can take supper whenever u feel hungry in the middle of the night.

A pleasant stay in a nice and clean room”
Rooms are clean, staff is very friendly, near hawker centres serving delicious local food. The only issues with this place is climbing the 3 flight of stairs (thus not suitable for old folks) and the fact that there is no attached toilet in the rooms (only 1 of the rooms have attached toilet. The remaining 6 rooms in the hostel share the common toilets). Did not find it noisy (maybe there was no major football matches on that day we were there). Overall, a good place to stay.

nice hostel, comfortable, and great location”
Even it's really hard to find at first, but once u hit the point. It was very easy. I only have 2 complain, the stairs. You need to climb the stairs first until you get to 3rd level to find your room and this hostel is quite far from the airport. After all, this hostel is amazing. Great location, with many food court of Malaysian and Chinese food all around and cheap price, really close with Kek Lo Shi temple also, the bus station are really close with this hostel, and the room are big, cozy,... The owner also provide some information about where to go, culinary trip to explore, the public transportation, etc.

Simple hostel with clean rooms”
we stayed for one night, we arrive very early in the morning and the owner let us check in early for a small extra fee. hostel is quite and clean ; it served our needs. there was a dvd player which we could use and load movies to. bus station is right across the street and there was many street stalls nearby. hostel is quite a bit away from historic centre. it was up to 45 min bus ride from hostel to historic penang . owner was vey helpful but it is unstaffed hostel at night. i would recommend this hostel if you want to experience local neighbourhoods.

Very nice hotel and close to many buses”
It's a bit far away from Georgetown (like 20 or 30 minutes by bus, but it's not a touristic place so i could see and live some moments with the locate people who are living here. It's a good place, there is a lot of tiny restaurant just downstrairs. I really enjoyed to stay there and if i have to come back to Penang, i think i will come again.

Very Decent Hoste”
It was fine. It's a hostel, so I don't expect much. What I did expect was all in order. Clean, quiet, affordable. Right on the bus line to the city. Take the 201 or 203 bus directly to Komtar.

Hostel with good facilities”
Hostel comes with private bathroom but shared toilet. Washing machines are provided with a charge of RM15 per usage. Free use of shared shampoo, shower gel, hair wax, facial washing gel etc (though 2-in-1 shampoo and shower gel available in each private bathroom) and shared refrigerator. Main gate is closed by 10pm and will not be entertained for whatever services after that hour, including check-in but key will be given for those already checked in before 10pm, together with your room and front door keys. Staff is very attentive and friendly but hostel is located quite a distance from major attractive sceneries and tourism spots.

Nice and Friendly Staff”
This hotel have good service and the room is comfortable. With a family of five we rented a the 6 bed room. It was with attached bathroom. The room is clean. There is a 7-11 at downstairs and is walking distance to Kek Lok Si. There is a bus stand just opposite the road. The hotel owner is friendly and very informative.

it is very comfortable due to the unique of its hotel that are in commercial building. the room are clean and the design for the bathroom in the hotel are very nice. besides, the environment in the hotel is clean and quiet. location are near to the tourist spot and there are nice local food around. does not contains any rules and regulation to stay inside the hotel and treat it like a house. very relax to stay in.

Budget Hotel”
Location is near to Kek Lok Si and Penang Hill but abit far from town and beach area. Owner is very friendly as he will personally contact you before check in, he will try assist you whatever he can. Room is okay, but I don't like the attached shower in the bathtub for personal hygiene issues. Hostel is located at 3rd floor of shop lots, you need to up there by staircase so it's not suitable for senior citizen. We having good time in the mamak which is downstair of the hostel. Nice Shisha :)

Friendly and clean room. Nearby to Kek lok si temple a bit jam to go to other place because there is a market nearby hostel. Suitable for budgeted traveller.
