Expectations
Nice accommodation, friendly staff but not informative. Bedroom I was staying in could be seen from the bar across the road so I didn't open my curtains even though I wanted to. Food was magnificent.

Good location and room, terrible service
The location is good although a little noisy, and rooms have a nice antique flavor. The restaurant/bar area is great. But the service is awful. Most employees speak little English, so misunderstandings are daily occurrences: I was left for an hour to wait for transportation that the hotel promised to arrange; a wine promotion turned out to be a scam; I was served the same dish twice; they lost one of the 3 clothes that I asked to wash. And Internet went from slow to non-functioning. All these in 3 days. A shame, with a better trained staff the hotel would be great.

FCC has history
I stayed at the FCC because of the history and location. But it was so much more. The staff were brilliant and learned their customers needs very quickly. The atmosphere was so good in the restaurant overlooking the river that I ended up eating, drinking and meeting people from all over the world. Everybody knows where the FCC is so it became the ideal meeting place.

I got an upgrade upgrade!
The hotel is in a prime location in a historical building. So some concessions have to be made for age, etc. But it is a miracle for me where they get their third star from. For a backpacker staying for short stay this may be fine. For this the price is outrageous compared with real hotels along the river. Breakfast is limited and be careful with the bar bills.

I like the history
I like the history of the building and the views and beautiful old charm. So I put up with the bad wifi, phone that does not work. The very noisy street and the 6:30 wake up call each morning when the restaurant dropped tables on my ceiling (their floor). Go to the rooftop bar even if you don't stay here.
