"I was attracted to Beacon Hotel in Agoda because of the location that is near Fengjia Night Market (it's one of the biggest night market in Taiwan!) I've also heard that the Taiwan celebrity Fanfan has stayed in this hotel before (which further convinced that this hotel could be really good). During the first time, boyfriend and I took a coach from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung Chao Ma bus stop which took about 2 hours plus (this will allow you to save some money from taking the HSR!). Beacon is nowhere to be seen from Chao Ma as it's about 20 minutes of walking distance. We still found our ways by asking for directions. But it's recommended to take a taxi to Beacon instead. Don't think it will cost much :) Tips for directions: it's very near Fengjia University as well :) Once you've located the University, it's easier to find Beacon. The hotel is located right beside Guang Nan outlet where they have almost everything ranging from IT stuff to books to stationeries. Very convenient to get your everyday items if you're at Beacon. The check-in is at the highest level instead of ground level. Supposing the check-in should be 3pm but despite reaching earlier, one of the staff member immediately informed us when the room was ready at 2.45pm. The advanced check-in service really leaves a good impression. Although the room may be small, it's very comfortable. The interior is modern and comfy. You'll find almost everything you need in the room. Bed is comfy. Breakfast cafe is cosy and comfortable! Food variety is not too bad. Although they have simple food like sausages and vege but it's all tasty. They have corn flakes as well. Fengjia Night Market is indeed 5 minutes walk away (or even quicker). Instead of travelling to further places, I decided to spend the two nights walking around Fengjia because it's SO NEAR! Good enough to spend the nights :) Food in Fengjia is generally AWESOME. Overall, I will DEFINITELY come back to this hotel. Excellent!"

"The staff were very helpful and friendly. While waiting to complete the check-in, another staff gave us the map and recommendations for the nearby night market (FengJia Night Market). The hotel is located very near to the FengJia Night Market (around 2 mins walk). The location is great because it is less crowded even though it is near to the FengJia night market, therefore not as noisy and complicated. The hotel is relatively new and the rooms are very clean. We booked for a twin bedded room (with view) and family room for 3 nights. Both rooms are quite spacious, especially the family room. The toilet is big with 2 basins for the family room and there is a television inside inside the bath tub area. There are also quite a variety of TV channels including a few taiwan variety show channels (which are very entertaining), HBO, Fox movies, and others which we didn't finish exploring."

"About 10 mins' walk to the largest night market in TaiChung - FengJia. All the hotels in that city are not tall; at most 6-10 storeys so this is also not a tall hotel. There is a hotel bar open 24/7 to all guests at the top floor that provide some basic game machines, instant coffee machine, tables/chairs and free ice-cream. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Interesting to note is the laundry that goes by weight; about 1kg for Taiwan Dollars $100 (about S$4.50 per kg). You put all the dirty laundry in a bag and pass to the reception in the morning and in the evening, it will all be returned to you neatly folded (but not ironed / hanged). Best to just wash the necessities and keep the rest for home wash. It is not the nearest hotel to FengJia night market as there are many small hotels nearer. It is perhaps a quieter hotel to stay and just about 15 mins taxi to the CBD area where there is the huge Mitsukoshi Mall (a must for Singaporean-style shopping and dining)."

"Location is very good, central but in a quiet lane. Only 15 to 20 mins walk from Zhaoma bus station and 5 mins to Fengjia nightmarket. Have a local bus at Maple Garden bus stop (10 mins walk from hotel) that can bring you to Gao Mei Wetlands in 50 mins. Local buses within 10 kms ride are free, but must purchase Easycard or equivalent. Minimal payment needed when exceeds, as in Gao Mei Wetlands. Same bus stop area, different direction, have buses to bring you to Taichung Main station in 30 mins. shortest.Check for the shortest route as it can take you 1 hour if you take the long route. Hotel wise-the room is very tastefully done and one of the most thoughtfully designed room (within its size limits that are user friendly for its occupants) that I have stayed in. Hotel deco is also subduedly chic. Complimentary snack and drinks from 5 pm to 7pm. (Not sure what they serve). Breakfast is passable only, but have milk tea. Staff a bit distant but professional. But overall 8/10 hotel. "

"What’s not to love about this hotel? Located within a 5-min. walk to Fengjia Night Market, there are more than enough varieties of shopping and eateries and unique food stalls. However, do note that this area, Xitun, is at the edge of the city, far, far from the main transportation hub in the city center, with a taxi fare being over a couple hundred local dollars or roughly US$ 8-10. If not, then for just a fraction of that, the BRT Rapid Bus line also runs to this area from the Train Station, although the nearest bus stop is still another 20+ minute stroll to the night market itself. Given the rates we paid, this has truly been one of the best values in the area. There are always ever the more “budget” options in the vicinity, but for better or worse, “you get what you pay for.” This “boutique” hotel itself was tastefully decorated with youthful ornamentation, obviously to appeal to a younger mindset, the target demographic of this area. There’s also an assortment of complementary beverages and sweets provided in the lobby. There’s also an optional automated check-in, which still doesn’t fully replace actual human service. The colorful, cartoonish rooms themselves, while spartan in actual decor, offers all the usual amenities and contemporary fixtures that look as if there were still brand-new. The mattresses were plush, as if from a more expensive hotel, only to be let down with lesser-quality, but still adequate pillows, sheets, and comforters. Other pluses included free (but limited in capacity) underground parking, as this area is notoriously expensive. And due to the pandemic, the usual breakfast buffet was replaced with room-service-like boxed meal sets, which were nonetheless still adequate. If this is still an issue, the hotel next door, “In-House,” offers what looked like an exquisite 4/5-star-like breakfast buffet that is also available to outside guests at a very reasonable price. "

"Good price, the location is good depending on what you want to do. Major bus lines running everywhere in the city have stops close to the spot (but the Taichung bus system in general is terrible and it will take you a long time to get anywhere no matter where you get on). May be best for people wanting to stay around the University. Very close to the night market... and the ALIEN MUSEUM *x-files theme song plays*"

"The rooms is alike the hotel name, mini. Even though the room size is small where there is barely any space to open up our luggages, the beds are definitely wide and big! I appreciated the fact that there is a small pocket behind the bed where I could place my phone and I also had a good sleep till the next morning! The interior and exterior of the hotel is nicely decorated with various photo opportunities. It is truly an instagram-worth hotel! The hotel is also well located within 5 minutes walk to Fengjia Night Market which made it convenient for me to shop till late night. However, the area near the hotel lack of street lamps which made it a bit dark at night. "
