Hostel is in a good location in walking distance to the orangutan and sun bear sanctuary’s. the rooms were clean and tidy with air con and toilets and showers were also clean. Free towel provided and breakfast included it was toast, eggs, sausages and beans with orange juice tea and coffee which is the best free breakfast in Asia so far! Would highly recommend this hostel to anyone wanting to visit the area on a budget

Hotel that disrespects the environment”

This hotel finds it too "expensive" to install a simple filter to provide drinking water. They would prefer to charge you money for bottles and create needless plastic waste than to protect their beautiful environment. No excuses at all, they need to fix this problem.

Great time in Sepilok”

Located near all wildlife attractions, especially Rainforest Discovery Centre. The room was clean and lovely with fantastic outdoor bathroom! Staff was nice and helpful. Foods were delicious! Highly recommended!!!

it is a gem of a place, offers a lot more than what they advertise. They should call it a resort (lodge can be misleading for more leisure travellers). The rooms are tastefully designed. We loved the concept of the open garden bathroom (attached to the back of the room, private access). The reception staff were super friendly and helpful. But the Mango restaurant has to our top pick for the place. Among the best food, we had in Borneo. They even packed breakfast boxes for us when we checked out at 7:00 am. The Orangutan sanctuary is 800 meters, about 10-12 minutes walk. The underrated but great place, the Rainforest Discovery centre is 400 meters, an easy stroll from the Lodge. We'd recommend spending 4-5 hours in the afternoon coz the Centre is a huge rainforest park with several walking trails. We really enjoyed our time. We would recommend the place without any hesitation and would stay when we get the chance to go back.

Definitely one of the best hosteles I have staid in. Super clean, beautiful setting, breakfast included! I have no complaints! They do not have WiFi unless you sit by the office door so don’t depend on that but, would highly recommend this place.

Only Con was the WiFi connection: it’s nice to not use it but sometimes it is needed for convenience and it only worked in one place (not even in the lobby or rooms, but by the office on site) and even then it was slow at best.

Quaint and quiet gem!”

We absolutely loved our stay here. Staff was very nice and helpful. Location was great to see the Sunbears, Urangutans and Rainforest Discovery center. Food at Mango Restaurant was great. Highly recommended! We loved this place!!!!

Amazing!”

Everything here is Amazing, the Staff, the food, the room, the view. I arrived late from a delayed flight but the staff stayed up to check me in and help me plant the next days activites. The food was so good here, the breakfast sets up up for the day, all the meals I had for lunch and dinner were very tasty and value for money. the door room and showers were nice and clean. walking distant to the Orangutan and bear sanctuary. Staff always on hand to help or take time out and chat to you. book a tour though them and they gave me discount. the tour was amazing.

Excellent accommodation for couple”

Very clean place and value for money! Breakfast included as well! 3mins drive to nature park, sun bear and orang utan park. The staff are helpful and willing to introduce us a few tourist spots around the area. 30mins drive from city which is perfect for people who wants to stay out from city and enjoy the nature and green. They have friendly cat that sneak in to our room and play with us for a little while loll

Clean and welcoming”

The rooms were clean and spacious, with an outdoor toilet with shower. It was very comfortable after a long days walk at the orang-utan sanctuary, sun bear rehab centre and discovery centre near by (20 mins walk away). The breakfast was simple and nice with your choice of eggs and unlimited toast. The lodge provided hotel style service with housekeeping everyday. The staff was friendly and allowed us to use the dormitory toilet (very clean) for a shower after a hot day out before we caught our departing flight at sandakan ( as they were fully booked and was unable to allow us to check out late)

Good place to explore Sepilok”

Nice place within proximity of key tourist places in Sepilok - all within about 10-15min walk. Good standard of the room, and while a bit dark, you will probably spend most of your time outside. Bathroom is outside - sheltered from outside view and by a net, but somewhat unusually open to environment - but its standard is good and includes a small garden. Price point somewhat higher than usual for Malaysia, though that's the case for all properties in Sepilok. Breakfast not particularly inspiring and selection somewhat limited but at least you start your day not completely hungry. Restaurant a bit pricey, but there's a cafe across the road (or cafeteria over at orangutan center) where you can eat cheaper.

Definitely the cleanest place I've been to in all of SE Asia. The staff is so friendly and they take the time to learn your name which is really appreciated. The beds are comfy the rooms (dorms) are really spacious which is nice. They dont have lockers in the rooms but they have a safe box at the front of you're really worried about valuables. 10/10 would definitely stay again!

I had a really nice stay here, the rooms were clean and comfortable and had the option of air con and fans. The bathrooms were also incredibly clean! The layout of the place is lovely, so peaceful. Shop and restaurant within the complex so you never have to walk far! About a 20 min walk to orangutan sanctuary. The thing that made the stay the best was the staff. They were so welcoming and friendly. I actually got sick one day and ended up spending the day in bed, the staff were about to check some people into the room but saw I was sick and moved them to a different dorm and let me have the dorm to myself. Whilst this is just a little thing, at that moment in time I really appreciated it. That evening and the next day numerous staff continued to ask if I was feeling better. It was really nice. Thank you guys!

Great dorms!! Wifi is a lie, staff mediocre at best”

Definitely recommend for the great big dorms, quiet location and really nice showers. Some staff was helpful, but the majority quite useless. I feel bad for saying it, but the girl from reception was the worst I've ever seen: constantly misinformed on bus times etc, then they tell you wrong info just to be polite. The girl didn't know how to call a taxi, or how her phone or walky-talky worked to ask someone to help. It took 20min and help from 3 others (she just sat there staring in the distance, while I got her colleagues!) and we nearly missed our bus. Resto is ridiculously expensive for buffet, but no problem: place across the street has wonderful cheap food. Mini market was closed all the time, though should be open 9am-9pm. Free breakfast ought to be a buffet, but they don't do that in low season and still charge the same. The claim to have Wi-Fi is basically a lie: only a few bars if you sit on the steps next to their office in the front (which I needed for work).

Lovely place to stay”

I stayed here for 1 night, and then again for 2 nights a few days later. The lodge is very clean and peaceful. The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful. There is WiFi, but I was unable to successfully connect on any of my devices. One downside is the shop, whenever I needed water it was closed which isn’t very good when there are no stores close by. I would stay here again, thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

New and clean hotel at Sipilok”

This hotel is rather new and the chalet is rather spacious. It is an ideal place for those who wish to visit the Orang Utan Sanctuary and Sun Bear Conservatio Centre. It took about 20 -30 mins to walk there. The hotel is quiet.

Beautiful! ”

Maybe it is more expensive than other rooms you can find in Asia, but it is definitely worth it. We slept here one night because we wanted to visit the orangutan rehabilitation centre. For that visit it is a good location, you can walk to the centre. The rooms are nice. Spacious, modern and clean. We really liked the bathroom with the garden :-) Wifi works only at the office and reception. Breakfast is only toast with jam and coffee/tea/juice, but that's on the sign at the reception, so you know that in advance...

Simple but comfortable”

I stayed here only for 01 night on my way to see the Orangutans. This is a perfect base for anyone visiting Sepilok. The conservation centre is just a kilometre away and can be reached by a 10 min walk. The bunks were clean and the staff were polite. Unfortunately wifi is only available in the office and not in the rooms. One more drawback is that the hostel does not have a restaurant so you need to walk a kilometre to grab a meal.
