Nice owner who warm our room before our arrival”
There is no restaurant or any shop at this area. Please get yourself some food from the Te Anau town center before getting to the lodge. Warm and comfy hostel. Recommend to stay if plan to self drive to Milford Sound.

Best Experience!”
We highly recommend this Lodge. My husband and I spent 2 nights here and although the weather was bad and some of our excursions got canceled we still had a great time because of the kindness and hospitality of the woman running this establishment. The place was very comfortable and clean and had everything we could need. The location was also perfect as it was near Milford Sound and Te Anau. It was a great experience!

Youth hostel not hotel”
We were very disappointed in this place, no internet access in the lodge so you have to go outside the backpackers building. The room is clean but the bulbs don’t match, the walls are paper thin so you can hear other guests talking, coughing, watching tv etc. Shared kitchen but no restaurant, so be prepared to cater. The views are great and the location too, but we wouldn’t stay here again.

Good”
Great location, view and good, basic place to stay. If you are not in the motel, there might be a fridge in the room or not. Shared kitchen. On the homepage should be more clearly stated: breakfast not included. We assumed that, other guests were rather surprised. Rooms are noise-sensitive.

Acceptable”
The staffs working here are fantastic, but the room so rundown, the bed is old and sunken. There’s no constant supply of cold water in the shower, be careful getting burnt by hot water because the mixer is malfunction. The hot and cold water taps at the wash basin are seperated at two different ends,so you either get to use it burning hot or freezing cold.

A nightmare!”
We forced to book this hotel as the rest was fully booked at Te Anau on the day, price was cheaper for sure among others while we only realised what caused this. Firstly, the location is completely isolated with a 30mins drive required. Followed by the room, it has some odours and everything was just so “vintage”. Nevertheless, we then noticed a big spider in our room! Oh my god, the heater was only worked for 5 mins and they cut off the waters. The water kettle was all stained in the bottom which we dared not used at all. A nightmare to us and we will not come back again!

Poor Management”
It’s located at Te Anau Downs, a quiet place with great view of lake, no cellphone signals. It’s a great location if you want to keep away from the touristic Te Anau. That’s why I came back again for the second time. But I paid much higher than the first time. This could be their policy but it made the customer never wants to come back again. It’s like a robbery where your phone doesn’t work and you couldn’t ask for help. Besides there were constantly dripping water sound in the ceiling until midnight, possibly the heating has problems. All the facilities were a bit old-fashioned. Dear manager please please do not ruin such a good location.

Very Dated and worn”
Pro-friendly staff, issued refund upon request Cons-reminds me of the 60’s-because that was the last time it was updated. Our room by stairs was noisy and you could hear the TV from the other room and conversations

A bit outdated, but cozy and friendly. Bring your own food.”
Old hotel / motel that hasn't seen a modernisation in a while. But the location is stunning, and it's cozy and clean. The staff is very helpful, but there is no restaurant on site, or within 20 kms, so bring your own food to cook in the former hotel kitchen.

3 in 1”
This is a backpacker location for the travelers, however the complex has hotel section, motel section and backpacker's section that was not advertised with travel agency. So be careful what are you booking and be aware, that there is no restaurant, pub or convenience store within 25 km. Have a food with you before you check-in (coffee, beer and wine is available at the reception).

Great location, nice views, close to Milford Sound. Studios well equipped. Good bed /mattress. Silence. Bathrooms not so convenient (and looking a bit old). A bit overpriced though.

Location is on the way to Milford Sound, beautiful view”
Cleanliness is acceptable, wifi signal is good, staff is friendly and helpful. Location wise is also good since I plan to start my journey early in the morning to Milford Sound. View at the back of the lodge is overlooking the lake, which is very beautiful and peaceful. However, there was a disruption of water supply for a few hours when I just checked in the lodge.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY ASKED”
Worst of all: internet connection was haphazardly available, and manger and staff were very unhelpful. Were not interested. The bunk beds were squeaking! There was no complimentary coffee nor tea. Manager felt it was acceptable to have NO INTERNET nor coffee, as there was an ensuite for a 6-bedded dormitory.?! Never heard that excuse before. Grossly overcharged for a 6-bed dorm. Not worth the money,

Good facilities, great location”
We spent a few nights here. The location is quiet and secluded and beautiful. Wonderful walk across the road to Mistletoe Lake - great in the evening. Great group kitchen facilities. Only drawback is the thin walls. You can hear EVERY thing that happens next door. Having said that, it is a great place to stop if heading to Milford Sound.

The motel was fine and value for money. They probably need more staff to work at their reception since Wayne was serving the customers at brew point and also doing the reception work as well. so we had to wait for a good 15 to 20 minutes for him to finish making coffee.

The staff were mostly friendly and the place was functional, but there were two downsides. 1) It's oddly located: I think it would have been a lot easier to stay in Te Anau itself for food, drink and groceries. And 2) mosquitos: they're everywhere. We accidentally opened the window to adjust a fly screen door (which was broken) and a whole swarm of them came in. The manager on duty was not remotely helpful. He noted it was our fault that we let them in and recommended we spray them. We did so but there were hundreds everywhere. No room service in between our stay so that night and the next we practically slept with dead flies all around us.

Wayne was really friendly and accommodating. Since he's a one-man army can't expect everything to be spick and span. Located conveniently on the way to Milford Sound. Lake around the hotel was epic!
