Just a 5-minute walk from Yuan Shan Station on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line. It's also convenient to take a bus from Taipei to the hostel until late at night (past 12:00 am). The rooms are clean as you are required to wear the provided sandals inside. As I don't mind stairs, being a backpacker, I used the lounge on the floor above for meals and alcohol. However, it may be a bit difficult for those with suitcases to climb up to the 4th floor. The place is cozy, clean, and convenient for buses/MRT, so I think I will use it again!

The location is great and the beds are clean, although a bit old. They are still much better than the beds in the military. When you pull up the curtains, the space is quite sufficient, but it is recommended to go to the lounge to work in order to avoid disturbing others. Additionally, the front desk sells personal hygiene products and earplugs, which can be purchased. It is common to encounter snoring, so please consider this. If you want to meet foreigners, this is also a good choice!

The rooms are airy and bright. The rooftop a sanctuary of retreat after a days explorations. 2nd floor area for the cafe is a nice place to indulge with one of the hostels cafes espresso beverages. It feels like a scene for a Lofi video when the subway train rumbles past in the night. *chef's kiss* I had many a perfect moment late at night in 12 minute intervals writing and thinking in this ambience. The blankets, a cool and soft delight. Sleep chambers are modest yet comfortable. A pleasant neighborhood. A stone's throw from the Fine Arts gallery about 12 minutes walk away. The wide open space in front of the Expo center is a magnet for various local musicians to ply their trade, as well as local youths honing their pop-locking skills. Next door, a whisky haven selling various elixirs at a very reasonable price, including some very esoteric Ardbegs. (they also have a 90s bottling of Johnny Walker Green Pure Malt that I recommend if you want something friendly and soothing to the senses) It's not a social guest house. I found the hushed environment somehow creating a sort of library vibe. Which is great if you just wan to chill. But, it was a little strange that non-one really made eye contact or conversation. A few other travelers told me this is the vibe in Taiwan though. If you're looking to socialize I would head to one of the more central hostels. But for people who just want to chill, this is a hidden gem that will surpass your expectations. I might suggest the hostel provide 25% - 50% discounts on coffee with a cookie in the morning for guests. It seemed pretty quiet that time of day in the cafe, and I think it'd be a nice way to get all the guests chilling together in the morning and also be a nice in-between offering since there is no breakfast at this guesthouse. I know you guys like to bake <3 10% discount for coffee not quite a sweet enough deal to stay in the hostel for beverages... maybe offer 20% on drinks and half price bakery at closing time so nothing goes to waste. And the common room is so quiet. Maybe put a bluetooth speaker up there that people can connect their phone too? All in all. A lovely guest house. I'll return when I'm in Taipei again =)

I stayed in an all female dorm. I felt safe and it was exceptionally clean. Only issue is that there is no lift, it is extremely exhausting carrying luggage when on the fourth floor. I enjoy sleeping in complete darkness so the light that is left on the entire night was not ideal. The curtains that can be drawn are great but the light still does creep in. Check in and check out was swift. Booking online was super easy. Hairdryer in the bathroom was highly appreciated. There was even a flat iron. I would recommend but bring an eye mask and light luggage.

“The staff make this place a home away from home for you” After our busy days out in the downtown, the mountains and the oceanfront, Corner Hostel was our calm peaceful place to rest and recharge - like our own space in Taipei. The staff make the difference here, from their conscientious daily cleaning of every part of the hostel to their thoughtful problem solving for each individual guest. Most of them speak English. The resident furry pets are a fun part of the scenery and add a warmth to the common area where they hang out. Can't say anything about the location other than "perfect" - two minutes walk to the Yuan Shan subway station on the Red Line. During our stay we saw travellers of many ages (20s-50s). 5 stars for Corner Hostel and Cafe!
