This is well located in Singapore's Muslim quarter near big mosque and a lot of Arab and Malay food joints. The breakfast is good but not local stuff. Facilities are ok and the good thing is that there is a lft. The lobby area provides facilities for common TV and use your laptop with power connection. They even allow you to use the facility after you check out. Especially if you have an evening fight, you can check out at mid-day, leave the bags in lobby and use the desks to work on laptop. You can even have a free coffee/tea.
Very recommended for all saving mode travellers”
Very happy to stay here, people are friendly and resourceful, lobby is comfy and clean, rooms and beda are ok to sleep and it is cold and clean, blanket is very comfy, bathroom and toilets are well mantained and cleaned regularly, location is superb, easy to find cheap foods and to get bus just at the bus stop outside the hostel and also walking distance to Haji Lane. Definetly reccomending this place to all of you.
Great location, but toilet cleanliness could be improved”
Five Stones Hostel is located very close to Haji Lane, so it's a great location! Staffs are nice and welcoming (English is good). The Wi-Fi connection is strong. But there are only two shower rooms on female's floor, and the cleanliness of the shower and toilet room could be improved.
Sad to leave”
The last day made me sad to leave.I wished I could stay forever. I promised to myself to come back and stay for a whole month. I made new friends this day who shared the room with me. Later we went to buy some beers and we talked a lot. I also met an old friend again he is from UK. It seems we always meet at Five Stone no matter how long it takes.
Friendly atmosphere ”
It’s a nice hostel, the staff were very helpful. We had a private room and it was alright, however the tv didn’t work but it wasn’t important for us. A bigger issue was that there seemed to be some problems with fire alarm which was ringing unnecessarily now and then. I hope they have fixed it by now so that future guests can sleep peacefully.
Strong recommend to budget traveler.”
Was stayed in a 8 people female dorm, staffs were awesome! The bunk bed makes noises than usual, shower room were too busy to be tidy. The alarm rang a lot even after midnight for somehow. Free washer and dryer were amazing! public area quite cozy. Wifi connection was good at public area and room.
About as good as it gets for budget stay in Singapore ”
We have stayed here multiple times. Very good location and basic facilities. Nice gathering room and basic breakfast downstairs. Main complaint for this stay is that the ventilation in access area is not working correctly. This causes all exit and entrance doors to be pressurized. Some slam shut causing an awful bang such as on the fifth floor which was a constant annoyance. The main security entrance door from the street would also not close because of the pressure defeating its purpose. Everything else was fine 😊
Great place to stay”
Pros, near Golden Miles Tower (bus location). Just 1 block from kampong glam. Breakfast ok, bread, cereal, coffe, tea (the jam was good) Bed ok, sheet and blanket new. Price was cheap Security, to my room (female dorm) was great (need to pass 3 security key) Cons, no 7-11 near by, No towel The bathroom need to concern (only 2 bathroom for shower), and the water didn't flow asap. Far from MRT, near bus stop. Walking alone at night the road light was not too light.
I booked 8-bed room for female. Everything is clean, including toilet, but my drap had a stain (they use white drap so I can see it). The hostel provides free breakfast so if you don't know what to eat, can come to the lounge. They also have free washing and iron place, but I didn't use it. The staffs were nice. Guests in my room were really friendly, and we had a talk. The hostel is near the MRT, about 10 minutes walking. I am very satisfied with the money I pay for the place. If you only need a place to sleep after a day traveling outside, this hostel is a good choice.
I think the price is a little too high for what you get. Rooms are small and mine didn’t have windows. Also, the separating of the male/female bathrooms over separate floors doesn’t really make sense. Location was very convenient.
In general, the staffs were not so friendly or helpful. They were not welcoming. I stayed in a mixed dorm room but it seemed like some people just live there forever. The atmosphere was not so good in this hostel. The shower rooms or toilets were not clean, and the bed in the dorm wasn’t comfortable. It was cheap and good value for just staying one night. Staying more than 2 nights would be so depressed.
Good but need improvement”
The facilities are good but the bathroom and toilet for female are a bit not as clean as I think. The security is good and the place are just near by the MRT system. But there is one disappointment that we are the group 3 girls but the staffs set up 3 up-beds for all of us.
CL from Malaysia”
The location is great, it is right in front of the bus stop and nearby Bugis. My locker key got bit problem so I just share with my friend's locker, it's not a big deal though. They have water dispenser in the share area, you can buy food outside and have it there too. They have hair dryer in the bathroom, and you may need to prepare your own towel, shampoo and bath because the smell is a bit weird and different with what we used usually. The only bad thing is the bathroom, the water got clog when there is hair got stuck at the water flow there, and there is some toilet's water heater is not functioning. But overall is good for a budget hostel.
Super clean!!! Friendly staff and free breakfast, not just jam and toast. Great location, just 10 min walk from Golden Mile bus station and 1min to Arab Street. I would be back for sure. Please run more promotions on Agoda :)
Good for backpackers.”
Overall it is a good stay, clean bed and great location. Walk for about 600m to the nearest Bugis Station and do shop around Bugis Street and get some hawker food at Albert Centre or Golden Mile Food Court.
clean, great location”
the staff were very accommodating. they allowed us to leave our bags prior to check in and after check out. the place is clean and location is great. will stay here again. ps: since they want guests to leave their slippers at the door, i hope they can provide slippers that can be used inside the rooms since the floor could be so cold when walking barefoot.
they mixed boys and girls in their dormitory type hostel (i feel uncomfortable sleeping with stranger guys in 1 room), their bathrooms are too small for public. you have to wait longer so you must take a bath earlier if you have scheduled to do in morning and also their toilets are not so clean (maybe because of other travellers also?) but their staffs are accomodating. they have unlimited free bfast. but overall, it was still a great hostel.
One of the best hostel - nice staff from counter services to cleaning staff”
Only suggestion - is to have regular cleaning of toilets and bath rooms like in the aircrafts (many users and regular cleanings indeed also make cleaning easier and hygienic at least 3 times a day)
Convenient, value for money and helpful staffs”
I stayed here during my weekend stay in Singapore. Room was clean, bed has power outlet and security was very good. The room was accessible using individual RFID card. The shower has water heater and hair dryer was working. The toilet has a hose (for us asians, this is very very crucial). Walking distance to MRT. Only downside I would say would be the sounds from outside the hostel. The bars outside are open until the wee hours in the morning so you could hear from the room. But it is what to expect as the hostel is located right in a backpacker street. Overall still a very very great hostel for a short stay
Hands down the best hostel I have stayed in the past year!”
There are so many great things to say about Five Stones that I am not sure where to begin....from the cleanliness, to the amazing wifi, to how nice the staff is.... it is by far the best value for your money and in an AWESOME location too!! Next time I am in Singapore again, I will for sure stay here again.
