Cannot fault this lovely hotel”
We have stayed at many of the Mercer Collection hotels in Southsea and are never disappointed. The staff are exceptional in every way, the rooms are classy, chic and cosy. The breakfast is wonderful, really sets you up for the day and of course the location is second to none. The Florence Arms is also a favourite with us, the food and service again exceptional
Thank you for your review! We hope to see you again soon and really appreciate you leaving this
Wish we could have stayed longer”
We were in Portsmouth for only 1 night, but we really enjoyed our time at the Florence. Wonderful room and staff. Awesome breakfast and a pub close by no AC, but had we not picked the hottest day in several decades in the UK we would never have noticed. Stay with the Florence....it’s worth it!
Thank you for your kind review it was great to welcome you and we hope to see you on your next UK visit
Good location, nice staff”
The hotel is located just steps from the esplanade and within a walking distance to shops and historic sites. Parking however is rather inconvenient as the hotel has only a few parking spaces on site. Guests would have to circle around the neighborhood to find street parking on their own. This was not mentioned in the details that Agoda provided. Breakfast was fresh and lovely. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Bathroom is very well appointed but small. We paid for executive king room months in advance but still got a rather small room with queen bed, and on the ground floor so not much for privacy. But we only stayed two nights so we didn't want to move to another room on the 2nd floor on the 2nd night as offered by one of the very heppful staff.
Lovely place. Attentive staff with attention to detail, v pleasant stay. Have stayed here before. ”
Will recommend the place. Close to the hovercraft terminal too if jetting off for leisure or business.
All style and grace. Stay here.”
Street side parking, free with permit. friendly staff no lifts. so you have to lug your luggage upstairs! very clean wonderful decor with well coordinated furniture. you must try staying here. restaurant run by hotel 3 mins away, classy place great ambience. Breakfast is a 5* experience! thank you!
Not like it used to be”
Staff were not helful Bed covers were old and dirty No lift or anyone to help with the bags
Best boutique hotel chain in Portsmouth, UK”
It was once again a wonderful stay here. We are regular visitors to the Florence chain of boutique hotels and it always gives us an amazingly cosy, comfortable and homely stay when we visit. Truly a home away from home!
Our stay at the hotel was great. We didn't have far to go to places to see. The staff were very helpful we had an issue with the Spa bath but that was sorted very quickly. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel.
Excellent value stay in Southsea”
Florence House Hotel was incredible value - extremely comfortable room, pleasant bathroom with very good shower and an excellent cooked breakfast. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. If I need to stay in Portsmouth again, I would definitely return.
Tranquil break in Portsmouth”
It was a very tranquil stay as I was having a very busy working schedule back in office. We booked 2 rooms with the bigger one taken up by our 3 kids and they absolutely loved it. This is our second time staying here before our break in the Isle of Wight. Will definitely come again
Goddaughters Wedding ”
We had soup in the resturant and normally resturants serve it luke warn Florence house was red hot just a it should be and the rest of the food was to the same high standard. A very pleseant stay
It is a nice peaceful hotel”
Me and my boyfriend really enjoy our stay at this hotel. The room we stayed in was such a beautiful room with a lovely bath tube. The employees where always very nice and helpful.
Attractive, unusual rooms”
Very enjoyable, though my partner thought the muesli tasted mouldy and the peanuts left out on the breakfast buffet were soggy. Otherwise, the showers were good, the complementary shower products were excellent and the rooms had a nice homey feel to them. Parking for only 2 cars was a bit of a disappointment. We were given a permit to park in the street without paying, but still had to completely unpack the car though we were only staying one night because we didn't feel secure leaving things in the car on the street. The beds were large and very comfortable. Our twin nine-year-olds adored their room. The hotel was very close to the seafront and I thoroughly enjoyed a run along the prom before breakfast.
relaxed, easy going”
enjoyable - very relaxed environment - contemporary room design
Friendly helpful staff”
We found the reception and breakfast staff lovely, we were given great information about where to eat, where to go for a walk and general information, the breakfast staff were very professional and efficient. Our room was comfortable and clean.
It was a comfortable and clean.”
The hotel served its purpose very well, this was a wedding event and I booked guests into this hotel so that they would be both confortable ( have a good nights sleep, access to clean showers and a good brekfast before embarking on the long wedding event ahead. This hotel provided everything that I was looking for, Also great and freindly staff!
Good hotel and quiet location”
This is a good quality hotel with friendly staff and clean and large modern fully equipped rooms. Breakfast is good. If you are staying across the road the wifi does not work well. Its a big walk to the center of town but possible. We walked both ways but probably would have been better getting a taxi back. Parking is not a problem. Depending on what you are paying would recommend this hotel.
Very romantic, period featured hotel”
Very cosy, lovely and small place. I liked the decor and the style of the room, it felt like very tasteful (your own) holiday cottage. Quite poor breakfast, however they offer also warm breakfast for additonal cost.
Very polite & efficient”
Room was a little cold & was not best served by single radiator
