Wish I could have stayed longer........”
I stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed my time here. It's in a lovely location in the quiet south of the island, next to an empty sandy beach and accessed through palm treed sandy tracks. The hotel itself is built on stilts in the mangrove and blends in aesthetically with the nearby village houses. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and doesn't feel 'touristy' which is exactly what I wanted to find. The room was very comfortable and spacious with an attached open air shower area which works well. The balcony is over the mangrove which is great for looking at fish swimming about at high tide, at low tide you are more likely to see a pig strolling past in the mud! This place is beautifully authentic with a very rustic feel while offering all the comfort needed for a great stay. The restaurant is a really nice place to chill out with hanging chairs and hammocks overlooking the waterway. The food was really nice too. There are also kayaks available for guests to use for free. The staff here were friendly, professional and helpful. They don't speak much English, but they speak a lot more than I do in Thai, so that's ok! They we're very helpfull with anything I needed, booking Ferry tickets etc. and generally made me feel welcome. I hired a motorbike from For Rest and had a really good look at the island, visiting villages and waterfalls and beaches for snorkelling. Koh Kood is beautiful, but please note that there are no taxis / public transport on the island. There are a few negative reviews about the location of For Rest being too remote. Koh Kood isn't very big! With a motorbike you really aren't far from anywhere on the Island and the roads are in great condition with very little traffic. If you are not keen on hiring a bike to get about, you might feel a bit stranded anywhere on Koh Kood.

Fantastic hotel, outstanding service and location.”
My wife (Thai) and I have stayed at this resort a number of times and have enjoyed ourselves every time. I've also read a number of the comments made by others; most of the negative comments are probably a result of not reasearching the place a bit before visiting. Koh Kood is remote and folks don't go down there for the nightlife and action; if you're looking for an array of restaruants and 7/11's stay in Koh Chang. The staff (husband & wife) are quite friendly and the service was great. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and yes, the shower is open to sky so if it's raining you'll get wet (imagine that). Meals were great and yes, most are Thai dishes. Breakfast is included with the room and Western/Thai choices are available. One nice feature about the area is that Ao Phrao is connected to two other bays via a shoreline path; don't be afraid to venture out for a nice walk and see the other beaches.

This hotel is not suitable for nightlife and action but it was a great advantage for us. The huesthouse is a good choice, if you're looking for quite and privacy. Accommodation is very comfortable for the price. Spacious, nicely decorated, clean rooms, with outdoor hot showers, friendly staff, and cozy restaurant. Wifi in restorant was a good surprise for us. But there is no any wardrobe in the room. The beach near guest house is the widest in the island, but it is not cleaned and because of that there are a lot of sand flies on the beach.

Amazing Guesthouse”
For Rest Guesthouse was amazing. My friend and I booked the day before and had no idea what to expect. The only bad thing I have to say is that the guesthouse is at the end of a sand road, so it was impossible to drive our motorbike in and out...we ended up leaving it at the end of the road and walking because it wasn't worth the effort. Other than that everything was perfect. It's modern and traditional at the same time. We loved the food and staff, and we loved the style and how the guesthouse was built in between the mangroves. The room was fabulous and the whole atmosphere was lovely. We took the kayaks out to the ocean one night and watched the sunset. Highly recommend staying here..even with the road issue I would stay here again 100%!

I would like to recommend this hotel for the travelers who love to stay at local hideaway in Koh Kood.I love to spend my day at the lobby, chillax along the canal, reading some good books and listen to my favorite songs.I realized that this is the boutique places I have found in this island.The surrounding is quiet but not very clean.I need to walk for a few step to enjoy your sunbathing and swimming.

charming hotel with a great staff.”
booked one night here but ended up staying the whole week. Its a very charming hotel with an open air shower which i loved. the staff here was super friendly and allowed us to hang out in the restaurant area (hammocks and seating) after hours. we were able to negotiate a good deal and they even gave us 3 or 4 meals for free. free kayak usage. only complaint was that the beach right in front of the hotel wasnt maintained. probably cause it was shared with a few local families. that being said, there was some trash and even broken bottles in the sand. if you walk a little further down the beach there are a couple of resorts that keep there beaches clean. Still loved the hotel. It was the best value on the island (i checked close to a dozen others in person).

Great hotel for chilling on the beach”
Great hotel, especially for the price. Rooms are beautiful, with outdoor showers and my room overlooked the river and mangroves around. Literally on the beach, which is classic, Thai, white sand, clear blue waters, palm trees as far as the eye can see. Restaurant is good, though staff are a little dopey and everything in the vicinity stops serving by 8.30! Very relaxed atmosphere and not much to do but chill on the beach. No wifi and the communal computer is really bad! Can use kayaks for free to explore mangroves and the bay and staff let me use the phone to book a diving trip.

The resort is located in the most beautiful beach of the most beautiful island of the Koh Chang archipelago. You will be close to a long white sandy beach and you are most likely to be alone. To me, it is a real paradise on Earth

"Beautiful, peaceful serene boutique hotel"”
Our stay was wonderful, as we were located rightin the middle of the mangroves. We had the opportunity to use the kayaks to travel around the hotel area and we saw wonderful nature and animals amongst the mangroves. It was so beautiful to wake up to nature on our doorstep. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced and the ,location was wonderful.

nice hideaway ”
Spacious clean beautiful rooms with really small veranda. Personal was friendly and helpful. We took on a few occasions the boats and we're paddling along the mangrove river. It was really nice. The beach is beautiful. The only negative thing was the construction side by the beach. But it will soon be finished and will be good for the place to have a little more around like restaurants. We were vegetarians and it was a little bit difficult to stay on papaya salad and french fries for one week. But in total we can recommend the hotel and we will be back there again.

Charmeful stay along the mangroves..”
Really nice room the included breakfast was ok. You can take a kayak for free to go a bit deeper into the mangroves, which was nice. A bit smelly when lowtide as normal in the mangroves. All in all we had a very good time there.

Great place to relax”
This hotel is paradise! It is in the middle of nowhere, there is no Wifi, and a spacious restaurant with hammocks. The staff is unbelievably friendly! The rooms are huge and clean, with an open air shower! If you really want to relax, this is the place to be!

far from crowds, nice beach”
The best feature is probably the nice beach nearby and the calm atmosphere. Rooms are big enough but the bathroom is opensky meaning that there is no roof over the shower (cold). The surrounding is not excellent as the local houses around are very poor standard. it is quite difficult to reach this hotel. Overall stay is ok, I would go back to this hotel to take their amazing fruit shake. The best I ever tasted!!

peace hotel with very beautiful view”
rooms is not very good,there are no warm water, woradrobe, and refrigerator. the wall of rooms is not thick enough for keeping noises. however, the location is the best. The resort is located on the edge of the mangrove.So when the tide is high, you will see a lot of small fishs.I will never miss going there again for sure.

Relaxed”
The hotel itself is charming and the food they serve is great, but there is a lot of trash and garbage surrounding the hotel. This could easily be cleaned up. The staff only knew a few english words, so it was tricky to communicate with them sometimes. The beach is close and we had it almost to ourself. If you are a light sleeper, remember to bring your earplugs because there is a lot of dogs barking and fighting during the night.

I wouldn't stay here again. For the money it was ok, but their website really talks up the property when in practise it underdelivers. Staff are glued to the TV, food is ordinary. Bathroom had cracked tiles and wasn't up to scratch. Beach was very dirty - was in fact the dirtiest beach I saw on the island. Swing was almost broken. House nextdoor plays loud music throughout the day (not much they can do about it, but it just added to the WTF am I doing here feeling. All that said, for Ko Kut, the price is not unreasonable, but they should really tone down their website copy to a level their staff are actually able to deliver on.

The hotel is nicely decorated. Few walks to the long sandy beach. The hotel is above the canal from the sea, which is unique. Can kayak along the canal and link to the sea.
