Not worth full rate”
Good base for the New Forest
Thought we were treating ourselves by paying a bit more than we normally would. However, it was a very disappointing experience. The rooms are small and only some have been refurbished. The first room we were put in was very shabby - wardrobe doors didn't close properly, no hook on the bathroom door (though there obviously had been one as the hole had been painted over) and not cleaned properly. After complaining we were moved to a refurbished room, but it also hadn't been cleaned properly, the tea and coffee hadn't been replaced and the lightbulb was missing from the bedside lamp. Overall we had the impression of an understaffed hotel that's seen better days and is definitely not worth what we paid a night.
