Beautiful location ”
The moment we stepped into the room, we were wowed by the view of Lake Akan. The hotel is clean, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the rooms had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning as well.

Okay place for the lake view”
Food is average, but a fun experience nonetheless with a jap buffet. The rooms are traditional, all have a smoking room smell even if non smoking. Staff are generally good, but nothing very personal. You pay a small fee for valet but the lady managing the carpark was excellent. A few steps away from river cruise. The onsen experience in sister hotel was beautiful with a view of akan. Could see stars at night in front of lake. Bed is comfortable. Overall recommend to stay one night, but there could be better options out there.

Authentic Traditional”
Clean traditional rooms with good lake view. Not overly crowded vs other hotels in the area. Good selection of fresh food. Well stocked convenient store.

Hotel shows its age, but value for money and location is awesome”
The view from your room, if you are on a Lake View room is stunning. However, the hotel shows its age. Things do look old and its in need of some renovation. The buffet dinner and breakfast is really good.

Good restaurant ”
Dinner and breakfast at Harmony restaurant was semi-buffet style with a focused menu. Good selection, much better than those at Yuko no Sato. Restaurant staff very professional and eager to please.

Very old style”
The hotel is very old indeed. Room cleanliness should be improved.

Overall experience was ruined by terrible arrangement upon check in”
This hotel was dare to assign just one guy at the Front Desk during the peak check in hours at around 1630hrs!! Massive arrivals but the hotel didn't form a queue or any queuing system at all, who ever guests approaching the Front Desk, that guy just ask them (including me) to take a sit at the lobby seating area, but the Receptionist was not checking in guests according to the arrival sequence, after we had waited for around 30 mins, I saw him checking in group of 4 guests who arrived the hotel 15 minutes later than we did, then I burst out at that moment, I can tolerate him to check in other guests who arriving almost similar time as we did in no sequence, but when he let other guests arriving later than us to jump the queue, it is totally unacceptable! Since I have been working in hotel industry for more than 30 years, therefore very seldom I will yell at my colleagues in the industry, but unfortunately, I did it this time!

Pricey Hotel but dated and stale room if you choose the mountain view”
Public Bath inside the hotel was small and old. Bathing tax is collected even if you did not use the facilities. There is a shuttle bus to their sister hotel to use the onsen facility there. Mountain View room was old and dated with smell of stale cigarettes mixed with the smell of the tatami mat.

Very Old Hotel and Facilities”
Hotel and the hot bath are rather basic and old. We saw bugs in the room, and had a few bed bug bites. Dinner and breakfast are not bad. Overall it is fine but disappointing on value for money given the price...

Must go for the half board”
Room is just ok, toilet smell though, Onsen is Small but u can go to their Sister hotel Onsen ( last bus at 930pm, did not make it). I am amazed by their half board dinner, not very big spread but the food is really good!

It is most worst experience”
Booking no-smoking room but smell smoky, even they try to clean but not work at all. Forget to make room ready before we check in. No tea bag, faucet almost no water....

Magnificent view of the lake, fantastic breakfast, free of charge parking”
We stayed in Forest of Akan Tsuruga Resort Hanayuuka for two nights (Western room type), the room was spacious (by Japanese standards) with the nice view of the lake. The breakfast (included into the room rate) was delicious. We did not have dinners in the hotel as we always prefer to have dinners in small local restaurants. The parking for cars is free of charge. We also took the boat trip on the lake at 6am (beautiful lake and the jetty/ticket's office is right near the hotel's entrance), you come back at 7am, have your breakfast and still have the whole day ahead! The staff speaks very little English, however it was not a problem at all. Thank you for providing a nice service to us!

Feel like home”
Delicious + variety breakfast and dinner buffet. Room is clean and warm enough to make us feel like home. Must try the big and rooftop hot spring at their sister hotel, Akan Yuku no Sato Tsuruga. One of the staff help us in reservation of bus tour.

Great hotel, but really bad staffs ”
The hotel was pretty great, good dinner and breakfast. Top notch for the food. We booked japanese western style room with twin beds, but first given the tatami room, though it was clear on the printed paper that I gave to the receptionist that we booked the japanese western style room. So I had to go back to the receptionist to argue and get a room change. We moved to the room the right, but my mom decided to just get a newer room, so I went back to the receptionist to get an upgrade. Originally the receptionist guy told us that there was no more room, all full. But after I showed that in agoda there's still two rooms available for twin room, surprisingly he gave us the keys for th twin room. Amazing how the room was suddenly available within seconds. We upgraded our room to twin room on the top floor from the smelly japanese room. Thought it would free, but at the time of check out the reception staff handed the bill with extra fee. We couldnt really argue because the staffs didnt really speak english and it was really hard to communicate with them. Most of the staffs were pretty rude towards non-japanese speaking guests, idk why but I could definitely tell from looking at how they treat the other foreign guests. I'd recommend people to just book straight to tsuruga wings or the other tsuruga hotel down the road. They have better english speaking staffs and better facilities. Bigger hotel and the price is about the same. This hotel has really bad staffs but have great food.

Great Location, Good dinner and breakfast spread.”
Great Lake view from our room. Walking distance to Excursion Boat Pier that brings you to Marimo Exhibition and Observation Center. Take the shuttle bus provided by the hotel to their sister hotel Lake Akan Tsuruga Wings for Onsen. There's also a Tourist Information Center opposite New Akan Hotel if you need more attractions information.

Great view of Lake Akan from room”
Room somewhat dated but spacious and clean. We got a room with a beautiful view of Lake Akan. Buffet breakfast and dinner was included and there was a good selection of food. Excellent service from the staff especially driving to the sister hotel for use of onsen.

Very good accommodation on beautiful Lake Akan”
The Japanese-style room, facing the lake, was clean, quite, and spacious enough, although longer than wider. The bathroom perhaps a bit too small. When they prepared the futon, they only laid one layer under the mattress, a bit too hard for an older and bony person like myself—luckily I could add one more as cushion. The onsen was just fine, but nothing special. The buffet, however, both for breakfast and for dinner, was really superlative, offering a wide-ranging variety of dishes catering for all tastes. We never seemed to have enough! Lastly, everyone in the staff was extremely courteous and attentive, including the valets who took care of our car, making the overall experience very pleasant. Also, contrary to one of the review, the location was ideal, not far from the center of town, and close to the ecological museum and Bokke.

Great location and great views”
The hotel was well situated along the main shopping street in town and next to Akan lake where you can take wonderful walks with great scenery. It also has a good hot spring bath and also the souvenir shop on the first floor sells nice souvenirs and food stuff. Hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful, we drove and there is free parking as well as valet service, however English proficiency is not that good (although they do have a staff who can speak mandarin too). Breakfast was ok, dinner was relatively more sumptuous - all buffett style. Rooms were decent sized by Japanese standards and we had a great view of the lake. Only moot point is no wifi connection in the room and slow connection in the lobby/restaurant common area.
