I very much enjoyed my stay at Formosa 101. The staff is outstanding; everyone is very helpful, rooms are comfortable and quiet, the layout is convenient, and the hostel is close to everything. First the receptionists and managers are excellent. I have spent well over a month there (in some cases I booked directly through the hostel) and I have never seen anyone be impatient or unfriendly, even though occasional guests can be difficult or unreasonable to say the least. Everyone is helpful about offering advice on where to go, what foods to try, and anything else that may come up. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are nicely arranged with good beds and desks, and it’s easy to get in and out. There’s a nice living room area which facilitates meeting people or just relaxing and drinking tea. The location is ideal, it’s close to so many excellent restaurants that you don’t really need to walk more than 10 minutes to find anything you need. Over the years I have stayed in probably ten different hostels in Taiwan and other countries and this one is the best of them all.

Stayed here for 7 days while exploring Taipei. Here are a couple of things I noted down from the hostel: - Convenient It's conveniently located in Xinyi district, near Taipei 101. I could conveniently walk to restaurants and convenience stores. A bus stop is just right in front of the building and 10 minutes walk away to the MRT station. - Comfortable private space I booked a single room with a window and the space is comfortable enough for myself. I brought a big suitcase with me and it was still possible to open it up though I need to close it once I'm done taking things out of my suitcase. Bed was comfortable and air con worked really well. They provided blackout blinds, that prevents the light from coming in. - Great for digital nomad/remote working As I need to work remotely, the room has a desk and I was able to work comfortable from my room. Internet was fast enough to take Zoom calls though slight drop outs but rarely. The place was quiet most of the time so I was able to concentrate on working from my room. - Well equipped space The room has multiple powerpoitns and next to my bed has international plug. That was very helpful to have. There was a washer and dryer that you can pay to use. Definitely great to have! - Quiet space As I mentioned above, the hostel on the 5th floor was quiet. It was perfect for me who's just looking to work in the morning and then do my own thing outside in the afternoon. Might not be suitable for people who are trying to find people to meet and travel together. Conclusion: I really enjoyed my stay there. If you're looking for a budget stay near 101, I highly recommend this hostel. One minor thing that would be good to have is a hook in the female shower so I can hang my towel instead up putting it in the shower cabinet.

The staff are very attentive. They are following the instructions of the upper management. If you are a female traveler, this review does not apply to you. Male traveler’s will be sharing a small bathroom and shower with two sinks nexts to the Laundry area. The pictures of the shared shower and bathrooms are the female ones. Men have to exit the sleeping area, go to the lobby, past the general elevator are part the facility entrance, to the laundry room. If you need to shave or brush or teeth, any large human that passes by will have to excuse themselves, if the patron has manors. The ventilation system might need o be serviced. as there is a moldy smell that Febreeze, as per the staff’s recommendation, will not eliminate. It is common knowledge that Taiwan is a humid place. Mold should be properly managed. Potential Guests should reserve a more expensive room with a window if you don’t mind sharing the bathroom. On the positive, I did meet some pleasant people. There is a world gym close by if you need to shower more often or if you are not comfortable.

台北アリーナでコンサートがあったので3泊しました！とても快適でした！ 荷物を広げたかったので1人部屋にしたのですが、思ってたより広くて、過ごしやすかったです。 窓なしの部屋の為、電気を消すと真っ暗なので、アラームは必須です！ 色々観光していたら、短時間睡眠しか取れなかったけど、真っ暗な部屋とふかふかなマットレスのおかげで熟睡できました！ 朝食のパンが美味しかったです！ 唯一マイナス点があるとすれば、脱衣所が無い点です。 シャワールーム内の角に小さい収納スペースがあるので、タオルと最小限の着替えは入ると思います。 11月末くらいであれば、薄手の部屋着ででも過ごせます。 ただ、1人部屋はオートロックで鍵を閉めるとエアコンも止まるので、夏はキツイかもしれません… チェックイン前後に荷物を預けられるし、受付のスタッフさんが親切でした！ 隣はファミマがあって、近くに夜市もあるので、食べ物には困らないです！ また観光で台湾に来ることがあれば利用したいと思います！ ありがとうございました‼️

You have to change to their sanitized slippers to walk around the common area and living area, so it's all very clean and tidy. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The location is great as the night market is like 2min walk away. Lots of Youbikes nearby. Can't say no to their free breakfast as well. 200% recommended.
