Perfect place in Mandalay”
So happy to have found the Fortune Hotel after another stay elsewhere that wasn't nearly as nice. A/C in rooms is a real plus in steamy Mandalay, and the staff were just fantastic, so friendly and arranging a shared taxi to the airport for us for 12,000 total. Really great option and one of the better places we stayed in Myanmar. Wifi worked flawlessly, which was a nice surprise after several weeks of unreliable connections.

Good place”
This was very nice hotel- the room on 4th floor was good, clean and comfortable. There is also TV with a few international channels. Breakfast was pleaseat surprise- on the rooftop you can choose from eggs or fried noodles. Fruit included. The only con was the location- it's not bad, there is crazy huge and interesting market nearby as well as a lot of restaurants or street food stalls, but it's far away from the "historic centre" like the Mandalay hill (which I highly recommend for sunset!!), the biggest book pagoda etc... Staff is very helpful and most of them speak english well.

Not that bad”
It is hard to find a fancy hotel in Mandalay unless you are full of money. This hotel is a good option for budget travelers. It is just an old building but clean enough. The staffs are kind and speak good English. Considering the fact that most of the hotels in Myanmar are over-priced, Fortune hotel is a good choice. I might go here again if i have another chance to stay in Mandalay again.

Surprisingly really good hotel (review + VIDEO)”
I heard a lot about hotels in Myanmar before traveling there. There was mainly one and the same opinion - lack of places to stay, high prices, poor standard! This was my first hotel in the country and thanks to Fortune Hotel I had completely opposite feelings. Nice standard (as per Myanmar standards), cheaper than most guest houses recommended by Lonely Planet guides, clean, friendly staff (some of them were speaking english very well), they helped us to 'deal' with a taxi driver that wanted to rip us off. Each floor has a shared bathroom, regardless they are very basic but very comfy and clean as well so no issues with that at all! You can book it online what makes you privileged comparing to all the backpackers following LP guides and trying to find rooms at overloaded, more expensive guest houses! It is located just a walking distance from night market, train station and bus station (WARNING: if you travel to Mandalay by bus you will not end up in city centre bus station. There is second one called something like Highway Bus Station, located outside the city. You have to get a taxi from there). Nearby you will find a lot of places with local food and shops as well. Tasty breakfast as well included. Really recommended if you want to avoid any problems with overloaded guest houses! Book it in advance and you won't be disappointed.

Average hotel in a good location”
We arrive in Mandalay around 4:30am but the hotel regulation is we can check in at 6am, so we waited awhile which wasn't bad. The staff are friendly and attentive especially the night shift guy. The room is kinda small for a superior one but the bathroom was ok. Good location, very close to Mandalay Palace and market. They installed routers on every floor during our 2nd day there so we were happy about that. They have wifi on every floor now and it was fast for Myanmar standard. *If you are flying out thru Air Asia, there is a free shuttle bus to the airport and the pick up point is not far, just ask from Air Asia office.

Great Staff!”
It's a professional and clean hotel in the middle of Mandalay. They allow us to early check in at 5:30 AM. It is very clean and have a nice breakfast and shared place on the fifth floor. Our only disappointment is that they are not allowed us to use shared place in the fifth floor while waiting our bus. They might be perfect if they change this rule.

Nice staff”
All staffs are very nice and good at english. They can arrange a ticket for a bus to other city, taxi, and anything else that you ask for. There is no elevator and the room for breakfast is at 5th floor. I think maybe they want us to see the view of Mandalay from this floor and it is very nice. There is no private toilet in the room but the mix toilet is clean. I feel ok with their toilet. By the way, it is very cheap and i really love that. ;))

Very helpful and very good English speaking staffs”
I got off the train at 8.45 in the morning and took 15 minutes to walk around and found the hotel. The staffs checked me in immediately without extra paid. They provided a lot useful information and helped me contact the taxi. the hotel is near mandalay palace around 15-30 min walk.

Good Hotel in Central Mandalay”
My stay was good, I arrived to Mandalay on Full Moon Day and I asked if there were any events. The receptionist told me there were and the best place was in Mahamuni Pagoda, she gave me a map and point it out several places to go and visit. She also gave some brochures related to tour visit to nearby attractions. In addition to that, I had to exchange money and I completely forgot it was Saturday. So no banks, the male receptionist gave options and I was able to get money.

Good location, friendly staff, but a bit old”
The location of the hotel is good. It was pretty easy to get around. But Mandalay is big so a motorbike or taxi is needed. The staff were quite helpful. They helped me to book a plane ticket, arranged for a very early trip to Mahamuni Pagoda at 3:30 in the morning and a shared taxi to the airport. What impressed me the most was: the hotel I stayed at the previous city called them to check if I could extend my stay. They learnt that I would arrive in Mandalay by bus at 3 AM and arranged for a pick up without me asking for it. I checked in at about 4 AM but they didn’t charge me extra. The staff also gave a lot of useful information on the city. I had a room facing the street. It was spacious but not noisy at all. It was a bit old, but nevertheless, clean. The shared bathroom was ok. The shower was quit cold. The breakfast was very simple: toast and fried eggs. It would be wise to go out explore the local breakfast. Overall the stay was good.

Nice budget stay”
This place was nice, the worse thing was stinky reception and many many stairs as our room was on the top floor even the hotel was empty. Aircon works great (you would die without it!). Beds are OK. Breakfast is basic on the roof top (but only till 9am - haha yeahhhh we like our sleeping :-D). Nice local restaurant with yummy food and cold beer across the street on the corner (saved us as there was a Buddha holidays when we were there and everything was closed - Mondays are aswell a bit slower). Another recommend place is Aye Myittar Myanmar Restaurant (cheap and amazing local restaurant-go hungry as there is a lot to eat for little money!!!) Don't try to walk around to the Palace - it doesn't look like, but it is very far. Get a motorbike rental (we got it from "Mandalay Motorbike Rental and Tours" we had some issues to find it but there is a blue advertising on the top of the building. Owners are lovely and helpful. Motorbike was in a great condition. They do Speak awesome English. We got ticket from the agency above this shop to Bagan. THERE ARE NO AIRCON VANS going to Bagan - it is an old local bus, so don't pay more for something that will never come.

value , nice staff”
For Myanmar this hotels is good value.Breakfast is standard bread and banana. The staff vey nice and helpful with good language skill. It is at the opposite end to Mandalay hill, the palace and pagodas so this must be considered. One problem for me is that above the door of room there is a glass panel and the light from the corridor shines in meaning the room cannot be made dark for sleeping . Would recommend either wood panel over glass as glass serves no purpose or at the least a curtain or painting over so that the room is dark for sleeping

Cheap place in good location”
The room was really outdated with paper thin walls but that's what you can expect for the price you pay in Mandalay. Friendly staff did their best to make me feel really welcomed there. Location is strategic as it is so near railway station. Breakfast was served and was surprisingly good - not only coffee, toast, egg, fruits but even fried noodles.

OK for Myanmar”
Hotel standards in Myanmar aren't usually very good value for money, but this place was decent. Very close to the train station. We stayed in two different rooms while transiting through Mandalay twice. One was a bigger room with two twin beds, one a shoebox with one double bed. The smaller one was actually more comfortable, though right outside the kitchen meaning it was quite loud in the morning. I saw them cleaning the shared bathrooms regularly. The wifi never worked and they weren't terribly interested in fixing it. Overall fine for one night if you aren't picky.

An old hotel with friendly staff”
We stayed at the Fortune hotel for three nights in the middle of June. The hotel is pretty central, but as the centre of Mandalay does not have much in the way of entertainment for tourists it made no real difference - you still need to get a taxi if you want to do a tour. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly through out our stay - we intially booked a room with a shared bathroom & shower but after seeing the squat toilets decided to move to one with an ensuite. The staff dealt with this very quicklly with no problems. The room itself was very small (enough space for a double bed, not too much else) and the bathroom was effectively a wet room. The aircon, like the rest of the hotel, was at least 20 years old and took a long time to cool the room down. The breakfast was also the standard Myanmar fare - eggs, toast and coffee from a packet. For international standards I would say this hotel is way overpriced for what it is and its age; however, after travelling for two weeks in Myanmar I would say that this is a reasonable standard for the country (most of the hotels are very old and overpriced), the hotel had a backup generator and organised tours and on going bus tickets very efficiently with no fuss. If you are on a budget, this hotel is worth considering, but don't expect to be able to do much sightseeing without a taxi. Tip: There is an excellent restaurant called the 'Aye-Myit-Tar' on 81st street between 29th and 30th street. We ate there every night after the hotel recommended it - clean, reasonable price and good Myanmar cuisine.

Fast and reliable electricity and internet”
Our time at the Fortune Hotel was great, I will always stay there now when I am in Mandalay provided they don't put up their charges.

friendly and helpful staff”
Location isn't such an issue in Mandalay as everywhere is easily accessible by bicycle, as the terrain is so flat. There's plenty of street food to be had nearby as well as a few bars that provide a welcome cold beer along with food. The hotel is clean and quiet and the shared bathroom is also clean and well maintained. Breakfast is a bit rudimentary. I'd stay here again.

One of the best values in Mandalay”
Great location. The staff can't speak English so well, but they make up for it with their effort and friendliness. It's one of the cheapest places in Mandalay, and well-located. The breakfast is very good! Wifi, like everywhere else in Myanmar is slow -- but just barely usable. Overall, you get what you pay for. It's clean, has AC, and the showers are hot.
