We loved our stay. ”

We loved our stay at the Abalone House. It was quaint, quiet and comfortable. What made this hotel magical was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. Lee the owner was so amazing, she goes above and beyond for her guests. Makes dinner reservations for you, and treats you like part of her family. I witnessed she also has incredible patience. There was a grumpy couple from Philadelphia that complained about everything. And I mean everything... they were so awful and entitled.. so Miserable in their own lives that they projected that negativity all around them. Lee handled them with dignityand grace. I would not have had that same decorum. Thank you again Abalone House for a wonderful stay. We will yearn to come back.

The room was excellent as well as the food at Ruben's Restaurant on the premises. Just a pity there were no air conditioning in the Spa when we went for facials.

Nice but overrated”

Pleasant hotel with good amenities and a warm, eclectic, elegant atmosphere. Accommodation is however significantly overpriced in terms of value for money. On-site Reuben's Restaurant is mediocre in terms of menu, quality and creativity of food, and stuttering (but friendly) service. Wine list is restricted, unappealing and also overpriced. Pronounced lack of attention to detail in Reuben's that makes any restaurant in town a better, more pleasant and more value for money option. Also a great pity that so few staff in the restaurant are local as the Paternoster community are colourfully friendly and are worthy of more support from local businesses.

Fabulous little hotel with a view to thrill”

We had a great time and enjoyed the library, which was a god sent in rainy weather! The service was impecable and the dinner an absolute feast. We will definetly stay here again and highly recommend Abalone House and its great team of staff!

Toller Boutique Luxus Ansatz leider mit Mängeln in der Umsetzung ”

Die Lage innerhalb des Dörfchens ist gut, so auch das künstlerische in der Innenausstattung. Das Frühstück war sehr gut aber insgesamt war es das einzige Hotel das uns auf unseren 3-wöchigen Flitterwochen enttäuscht hat. Sollte eins der Highlights sein, aber leider stimmte das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis überhaupt nicht. Das Zimmer war sehr dunkel und laut. Der Service zwar stets bemüht aber nicht auf dem Niveau des angeblichen Standards zB keine Weinempfehlung. Essen qualitativ gut aber auf Feinschmecker Preis Niveau und dafür extrem einfach - Besonders enttäuschend das Weihnachtsessen und die Amusebuche - Eisbergsalat mit gekochter Garnele in Cocktailsosse schwimmend oder ein Zahnstocher mit Gurke/Tomate/Olive...??? Unsere Hauptspeise beim Weihnachtsessen war Lachs der durchgehend roh und kalt war, nach bitte um anbraten bekamen wir es noch liebloser auf dem alten Teller angerichtet, eine Seite verbrannt aber durch, die andere immer noch roh. Schade, hatten uns sehr darauf gefreut.
