The property offers unbeatable valuebwith a prime location that makes exploring the area a breeze, while the cleanliness throughout is commendable. The staff is incredibly attentive, ensuring every needis met, and the facilities are well maintained, particularly the relaxing on-site baths. The views from the property are stunning making it a perfect choice for anyone looking to unwind in comfort.
This is a wonderful hotel for families. They offer a play area for kids, and you can even bring your little ones along for a relaxing hot bath. Additionally, they provide essential items for children that you can use during your stay. The staff is friendly and approachable, always ready to assist you with anything you need. The food is excellent, featuring traditional Japanese dishes.
Very family friendly accomodation. Food is very good. Indoor onsen is suitable for young children with toys and seats for them. Outdoor onsen is excellent for parents to relax. Kid loves the indoor playroom and retro arcade
The Staff were very nice and accommodating! We arrived early before check-in time, and we didn't want to pull our luggage around while we explored town until the check-in. The staff took our luggage in and brought it to the room that we would be staying in, and when we later checked-in, they took care of all of our needs! The staff were very professional and courteous! They took care of everything, and made the stay very relaxing and easy! The ryokan is unfortunately situated at the top of a hill, and the climb up is difficult and tiring. It is located a bit far from the Arima Onsen Town - and walking back and forth between the hotel and the town is a good exercise in itself. Nevertheless, the ryokan had a service to drive us down to town, and we very much appreciated it! Thank you so much for making our stay very relaxing and memorable! We definitely recommend Motoyu Ryuusenkaku!
We had an authentic Japanese experience which was still toddler- friendly. Rooms were old but clean. Kaiseki meals were very tasty. Service was excellent, with special mention to Atsuki who looked after us so well during our stay there. A little way out of town, but the mountain views were very peaceful.
Very good service from staff, including the drivers. Outdoor private onsen was well maintained and fully equipped with shower. A very family friendly resort with plenty of facilities for adults and children. Enjoyed the tea packets served in our room. Location of room was ideal with a good view of mountains. Would recommend this place for at least 2 to 3 nights stay for families with children.
It's my 1st time coming to this place & I didn't regret it. The only regret I have was staying 2d1n instead of 3d2n. As there are not too much time to relax & enjoy the facilities. Staffs here are amazing
We were here 20 years ago when we just got married. When we revisited last week everything was just like last month. The onsens look the same, rooms were clean and tidy. There’s not a sign of run down at this ryokan. We could still enjoy keseiki dinner in our room. Keep up the good work
Very clean and well-maintained, with staff who will go over and beyond to ensure a good night stay for me and my family
Peoples are so kind And the room is so clean Best dinner course!!
We had an absolutely fantastic time - the staff were super helpful and the place spotless and well-organised. We booked a room with the mountain view, which was gorgeous, and a full kaiseki dinner, a Michelin-star level dining experience, in our yukatas in our room. Very much recommend! Also, the hot springs are open during the night so one can pop in just before sleep. It’s bliss! We would absolutely stay again.
The staff are responsive on agoda so do contact them and they will be able to shuttle you the hotel from your arrival station.
I went there with my 1 yr old boy and he really enjoyed and happy all the time at this hotel. Staff were friendly to my kids and I really had a good time with my family stayin here. Food was also good 👍
very great location for family with young kids. i spend a night there and celebrating my husband birthday and there are birthday cake and hats for photo taking. amazing experience. kids enjoy the games too.! want to come back again one day!
The place is a good onsen experience for the whole family. The futon set covers are a little old maybe they could do something about it to make the sheets looking hotel-quality white. Less expensive hotels are even better than that. One staff helped us to find a bday candle and delivered it to our room. All in all, we had a great stay.
Room and onsen overrated and overpriced. The full course in room dinner is most delicious.. Attention and service from staffs made up for the shortcomings.
Terrific traditional Ryokan with Onsen facilities, friendly staff and complimentary staff. Mountain views are beautiful
町に行っても送迎付きがすごくありたがった。 温泉もとても気持ち良かった
nice waitress
Everything above average
Great accommodation for family as it has a pool together with onsen
Good to travel with kids
Staff are extremely friendly, excellent services and very family friendly highly recommended
Staff super friendly and the onsen is very private
Service is A class, staffs are friendly and helpful. No fancy facility, but if u're looking a cozy, this is a perfect choice in Arima.
Good service & dinner, quiet and small onsen, not convenient from bus terminal to hotel, need to ask hotel to pick up at designated time.
This is a good ryokan if you travel with young kids or baby. The bathroom is equipped with baby bathtub and baby shampoo is provided as well. Most of ryokan provides yukata for adults only but this ryokan provides for kids to infant. The best part was there’s even a baby buffet in the morning. It was nice that my 9 months baby don’t have to eat instant/canned food. Highly recommended if you travel with young kids.
There are kid's corner and private onsen which fit family with kids. The hotel is with very good quality staff and service. The dinner was very good and kid's enjoyed.
Motoyu Ryuusenkaku is a traditional authentic ryokan that is tucked away at the top of Arima Onsen.. you can get up on foot, but if you have a luggage, do call them up and there will be a van to pick u up from Arima Train station. Their hospitality is fantastic and we were wamly welcomed from the start till the end. Rooms was warm and cosy, futons and kimonos were provided for our comfort. The room smelled a little damp, but it was a wet season afterall and its a wooden accomodation. Unfortunately, we wanted the dinner service but it was sold out. So i would advise you to apply for the in room dinner service earlier as the town closes early, hence food might be an issue. The ryokkan does not accept other food to be brought into the rooms. Hence we got dinner in town. Motoyu Ryuusenkaku will provided a little list of restaurants that we can have dinner at. However, the town's people speak very little English. But we could get by with key words. A key facility would be the public indoor and outdoor onsens, which has gold and silver water. And also the private onsen which can be booked at 2000yen for 45 mins,at the reception counter. We enjoyed our stay and their hospitality very much.
Excellent service, special thanks to Marija for all her interpreting, great breakfast- all you can eat. They pick you up and drop off at the station. Free kimono rental, nice onsen with beautiful views. Quite pricey.
Booked two rooms for 4 adults and a child, room is very dated and not very clean, weird smell in bathroom. Only good is private onsen, nice outdoor bath, 2000yen for 45 mins. It would be easier with cars or walk around 20 mins to reach the main street. Restaurant and shops nearby mostly closed very early around 6pm plus. So if you didn’t book dinner with the hotel, it’s a trouble to find foods around.
On site onsen are great, not busy if you go early in the morning or late at night. They have English-speaking staff which is very convenient. Their bus shuttle services are great and they will even drop off suitcases for you at requested bus station when you leave!
i drove there with paking space. it was great view. less people and amazing view aa it was on the top of mountain. if you dont drive, then it would be difficult.
We had a great price via Agoda (170$ CAD for 2 person 1 night). We were received as if we were royalty!! Amazing service, every employee were so helpful and nice. We had a room Japanese style top floor with a great view over the valley with the mountains in background. We were able to book the private Onsen twice during our less than 24h stay, we appreciated it a lot! Not much to do I. The little town of Arima during winter though, but to get the Onsen experience, I would defiantly advise you to book with them!
Great
Nice place! The room is clean, very friendly staff and service. It's awesome.
Room spacious and with private hot spring in room, recommended to stay but price not very attractive
Both private and public onsen (hot spring) facilities are wonderful. Just spent extra 2000 yen for 45 mins private onsen is a good deal. We reserved 2 times during night time and day time
The Ryokan was located up steep slopes but there is a free shuttle service (available upon request) to/from the station! Staff were really friendly and the stay was comfortable! Will visit again!
Traditional Japanese style room. Despite big bug inside the toilet, staffs were very nice and helpful. One thing to note is that there is another hotel in Arima with a very similar name. location : in a hill and takes 15mins walk from bus station ( if you just stay for one night, suggest to bring slight luggage) Good thing is that they provide pick up on your arrival as well as return at the major stations in Arima . (You need to call them upfront) One rule is that you are not allowed to bring food from outside , if you didn’t preorder their dinner and need to go back to town for dinner , they offer shuttle bus at around 6:45 and 8:45. In general , great experience !
Nice with kids and the private outdoor onsen(cost extra)for the family it’s a nice touch! Totally worth it! Staff are friendly and helpful! With pick up and drop off service to the train station, peace of mind !
The buffet breakfast is just acceptable. Need to climb a steep slope to reach the hotel. But I do like the onsen, both indoor and outdoor. A good place to talk to random Japanese people.
Acceptable price with good room, food and view We choose mountain view for 4 adults The hotel is on the mountain, a little bit far from the center of town, but the tourist information can call to hotel and them sent the bus to pick up you quickly. Good traditional style japanese hotel, not new but very clean. Staff are good in english and very nice They had outdoor and indoor onsen, quite great both of them but I like the outdoor more because you can see the mountain from the onsen Dinner was very, very great. You will have them in your room, sashimi and Tajima beef was great. And you will have breakfast at 1st floor in morning, good one. Not recommend who had backache because the bed is only japanese matt, about 2 inch thickness, but enough for me!
Maybe it is to be expected in an old town like Arima. But having stayed in various Ryokans and Onsen hotels in various parts of Japan, and least to say, having paid equivalent or half the amount per night, i still would not hesitate to rate this as the lowest I've been in. The onsen itself was devastatingly small and ill-equipped. Showers were placed outside in the cold at the outdoor pools which made little sense. There was no water available to drink within the facility of the onsen either which i would have presumed to be a necessity. The service, however, was impeccable. I'd give 6 stars if i could for their warmth and excellence.
Good services
staffs are kind, outside bath is wonderful and breakfast is so nice!
What a perfect getaway....arrived Arima in the afternoon, and spend exactly superb 24 hours to 2-3x onsen in the hotel, dinner in traditional resto in town. Great hotel, superb service and facility.

“Incredible helpfulness and initiative demonstrated by the hotel staff”
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Arima Onsen Motoyu Ryuusenkaku during a vacation, and I have to say the standout feature was the incredible helpfulness and initiative demonstrated by the hotel staff. From the moment I arrived, the front desk attendants were eager to assist me. When I inquired about the best way to get to a specific destination I had planned to visit, they didn't simply provide a basic direction or refer me to a tourist information center. Instead, the staff took the initiative to thoroughly research all of my transportation options - looking up bus routes, metro schedules, rideshare costs, and even walking directions. They presented me with a comprehensive overview of the pros and cons of each method, including estimated travel times and prices. The depth of information they provided was far more valuable than anything I could have found at a typical visitor's bureau. Throughout my stay, I continued to be amazed by the staff's eagerness to go above and beyond. Any time I had a question or request, whether it was recommendations for local restaurants or assistance booking tickets, they tackled it with enthusiasm and attention to detail. I never felt like I was just another guest - the staff genuinely seemed to care about ensuring I had the best possible experience. The Arima Onsen Motoyu Ryuusenkaku's exceptional customer service truly set it apart. While the hotel itself was lovely, with comfortable rooms and nice amenities, it was the staff's helpfulness and initiative that made my trip so memorable. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on my next visit to the Arima Onsen. The Arima Onsen Motoyu Ryuusenkaku has raised the bar when it comes to hospitality and I give them my highest recommendation.
