Find a lot of solo travellers and ended up being good friends here, i also had a good breakfast for the money i spend on nights sleeping in Balmers! However, it tends to be soooo crowded and noisy at night. Some of friends didn't have a good sleep here. In the morning, because of a lot of people using the shower, the hot water doesn't come out. But I have a good time here :D

Disco, bar, plenty of common area spaces. Though not in the center it has Irish and local pub plus thai food and kebab&pizza just next door and a bus stop in front heading interlaken ost and west stations. Kitchen is closed at 22 but the fridge is outside in dining area so u can eat or grab your cold beer at anytime. And a great plus u can drink yr own alcool though they have a bar and sell beers in the reception. I felt like a real backpacker schould, free to choose, like at home

Great place with great value. Great kitchen. I had a good time with all good roommates. Two annoying things can be no nearby socket for charging and the room next door coming as group made so much noise at late night and in the morning.

I was surprised just how good this hostel was for the cost, as it's hard to find accommodation in Switzerland for under 25 CHF a night. It was conveniently located close to the town centre and near 2 local supermarkets. The downstairs living area was cosy to sit and chill although they close it at 10pm which was a shame because then the only place was bed really! The kitchen is also really clean and well stocked. My only improvement suggestions: not enough plug sockets in the rooms, there was a weird multiplug by the door but that was it, and half the sockets didn't work and it was very slow to charge our phones. No plugs near the beds. Also curtains around the beds would make a huge difference for privacy. The lockers are only outside the building, no space for your things in the room. Finally the staff were nice enough but they were not particularly warm or friendly, and they clearly don't mingle with the customers which is a shame as in other hostels this can create a lovely vibe.

Ok hotel”
Stayed for 1 night, so feel that it was ok. Except that parking is a little cumbersome since the property has no parking place, it would have to be a few meters away for paid parking or further down for free parking at Balmers Tentage area

I would not recommend Balmers if you are not a person enjoys a social life. My room is right above the diners and bars at the Hostel, so it is quite noisy at night. On my view, Hostel is a place for you to relax and reengergize after a long day of hiking and traveling, so it better has what it required to get a good rest.

Not 24 hr front desk”
What I like about this hostel is that, it's one of the cheapest property on interlaken, plus you still get a decent room. And you can cook your own food, knowing that Switzerland was an expensive country. Cons: 1. Not 24 hour front desk, we arrived 12:20 in the afternoon, and there was a post in the door saying coming back by 3pm, meaning we need to pay for the locker fee for our luggages, plus no free bus card from the hotel until we went back from our tour in the evening when we check in. We saw some travellers with the same situation. 2. The breakfast, was not good. You pay around 7 or 9 CHF and what you'll get is some piece of loaf bread, some jam, some cereal. . There's also coffee or a simple orange juice. And that's it. Overall, the place is okay.

night desk staff was unprofessional”
Cheapest hostel in town, that's about it. Night desk staff was sarcastic and makes snide remarks which made the stay unpleasant. Toilet constantly smells. No sound proofing so you can always hear people walking and chatting along corridors. Kitchen was usually overcrowded and you will have to stand around for a spot at the stoves.

It was a good experience cause it was mid spring time when I visited Swiss. but I didn't expect that there is a cockroach. but all in all it's all good, people are friendly and accommodating.

El personal es muy amable, siempre dispuesto a ayudarte y aconsejarte. El hostel está muy bien, limpio y espacioso. En cuanto a las quejas por ruido que leí en otros comentarios... personalmente no puedo opinar porque cuando yo fui, el club estaba cerrado. No obstante, dormí muy tranquila en mi habitación de 6 personas. Hay muy buen ambiente, es fácil conocer gente en la sala de billar y futbolín, especialmente si viajas solx :)
