Value for money, location is ok,town center is in walking distance”
-Location is ok not far from town center, market and many restaurants near by. -room is ok,clean, hot shower is good. -hotel is on the main street but still quiet which is very good for a rest. -WiFi is good -staffs are nice -there are free bikes provided at the hotel.
It could have been better.”
The place was really pretty at the beginning. The view from the room is spectacular. We had a tree inside the room. The whole daytime experience was good. Then the dawn is coming were all the mosquitos inside the room are flying around like crazy. Some people doesnt mind but we do since dengue is not fun. The tree inside covering the light half of the room. The toilet is really dark and no hot shower. There is also singing next door and we dont wanna eat there again. They served us rotten veg. in our food. Then here comes the morning were kids running around while still sleeping. It would have been okay if the wood doesnt make any sound but it was really noisy. The staff doesnt speak english as we understood the day before we can have breakfast but no. Luckily we found riverview the best place to eat.
Owner was away over busy new year period leaving inexperienced staff in charge of a messed up booking system (hand written in a note book). Staff struggled to allocate correct rooms (one of us was down as having two rooms booked for example). When owner was contacted via phone (she was in Chaing Mai), she spent 5 minutes blaming her staff and asking if I wanted me to fire one of them. Wait, what??? So rather than taking responsibility for the problems at her establishment, which she had left in the hands of inexperienced staff over the busiest period of the year (New Year), she blamed everyone else. In summary: rude owner, unreliable hand written booking system, and inadequately trained staff. Would definitely NOT stay here again.
Very Restful and peaceful place”
My wife and I very much enjoyed this resort. It was right on the river and had great views. I liked that there was a tree in our room. We rode our motor bike from Chiang Mai to this resort. It was a great place to relax and rest for the night. I would certainly stay here again.
Good Place for the price”
This place was right on the river in Mae Hong Son. It was really nice sitting on the deck and looking at the river and mountains. It was also cool that there was a tree in the room. For the price I would certainly recommend this place and stay here again. For not many hotels to chose from in Mae Hong Son this is a good one to stay at.
Fallen Glory ”
This was clearly a great rustic hotel in the past - but they have obviously not put the money into maintenance, and now the place is to some extent falling apart. A great pity because if maintained, it would be a wonderful hotel. (To give one example - the window frame in our room was rotted to the point of leaving a big hole where the glass was falling out!)
The photos on your site don’t look anything like he actual resort except for 1 room. Other rooms don’t have a river view. My room was below the staff house so it was super noisy as there is no sound barrier in the wood floor plus they have a band that plays nightly that is very loud as the rooms are not insulated. The staff all seem to be 15 or 16 years old with no English. I tried to upgrade to a river view room as almost no one was in the hotel but they didn’t understand me. Also, I almost went through the wooden elevated boardwalk as the board cracked and broke then I stepped on it and my leg fell through. There are way better options in the city like tamarind grand and the northwest guest house.
For about 20€/night without breakfast, it's not a bargain
Interesting stay ”
Nice layout. Rooms are basic and clean. Outdoors is interesting with water flowing around (hence lot of mosquitos) Nice eating joints across with sunset views
Resort right next to the River”
Some of the rooms has tree growing through as the owner did not want to cut down the trees during construction - support green Earth! The best coffee for breakfast as they are all freshly brewed! The owner was very accomodating to open his bar beyond the closing time as our party was there on Christmas eve.
Black Ant Coffee and Resort was absolutely charming, among a sea of mediocre accommodations in TH. I was fortunate to get one of the quaint rooms below the road and fronting on the river. Room #1 interior design was a combination of wood, colored block, and slate floor, had an abundance of windows, and a live tree growing through the room. A standard Falang breakfast was included and eaten on the the deck overlooking the river. Morning coffee made on the deck was perfect! Housekeeping seemed very capable and responded quickly. Restaurant has quite good Thai cuisine with quality Thai musician singing easy to listen to Thai Folk Music. Extended my stay 1 day.
Excellent personal service by Owner”
The highlight of our stay is the excellent personal service of one of the young owner of the boutique hotel. He went beyond normal service level by keeping is bar opened for us to celebrate Christmas and cutting fruits which we bought from the market. The sunset view from the River side rooms are spectacular. By not cutting down the trees, some of the rooms have a tree in the room - beware when going to the toilet at night! Walking distant to the street market and all the eating places along the river
Rustic hotel frequented by bikers. Being in our sixties, we didnt particularly appreciate being positioned in rooms up steep rickety stairs. Bathrooms are rather strange although the rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is good and staff are friendly.
Nice Place For Price and Location”
This was our first time in this city and we would stay at this hotel again. It was on the river and had a great view. We had a tree in our room, which was really cool. For the price and location I will be referring this to others as well. I want to go back in the fall when the weather is more clear and you can see more. The staff were helpful.
Au-dessus de la moyenne”
Room was over priced for the quality (not clean and property not well maintained). The staff, although very kind, did not speak any English. When I first arrived, there was no one to be found anywhere. Someone only showed up after I called a number from a business card I found behind the front desk. Hotel offered to let me use one of their motorbikes, but the brakes didn't work properly so I rented one in town. Location is very good though as it is on the main street with all of the other hotels and bars, by the river.
Good location! It close to many restaurants.
