“Good base for tour of Ethiopia”
For the most part, I liked this hote. It's a new and modern building. The staff is very good when they are engaged. The breakfast was very good, as was the coffee shop on the 1st floor. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The price was good compared to other similar hotels in Addis Ababa. I did have a few problems. First, while the WiFi remains connected the internet goes down, very often. This means while the WiFi will show connected, you won't be able to access the Web. Fortunately, I purchased data cards for both my phone and iPad, and could get 4G to 5G depending on which floor I was on. But data is expensive and while my client paid for it, you may not have that luxury. Second, the power goes out fairly often. I think they have a backup generator but unless you are on cellular data, it can cause problems if say you are in the middle of a Zoom call. Third, the shuttle is generally good. I stayed at the hotel on 3 separate occasions, so got dropped off and picked up 6 times. Only once did the guy not show but I usually tell at least two people when I arrange transportation like this. It's a hassle negotiating a cab at the airport and Yango can take a while. There were problems with things not working, like the phones (they fixed promptly but only after I waited for an hour and then said fix it or move me to another room.). The air conditioner can be iffy, depending on your room. Worst case is though that you turn the temp down to 17 or 16, and then it feels like 18 or 19. All that being said, this is Africa, and after travelling in West Africa for 2 months, this wasn't bad. I would recommend the hotel, especially since pricewise it is a lot better than other alternatives.
