Disappointing”

Not inexpensive but the Manor has seen better days. The rooms are dusty, not as clean as they should be. The procedures for check in and check out and ordering breakfast (which had to be done the precious day) weren’t obvious and there was often no one to ask. Guests were left to try to assist other guests with the procedures.

The service was exceptional. I had made a mistake with my booking and all was fixed without any hassles. The room was very clean and comfortable. I am happy to recommend this establishment.

Motor cycle tour.”

I rode down the gravel road to Strahan from Arthur River. It was great to finally make it to Franklin Manor. Friendly and very helpful checkin staff. Thank you.

There was a mix up with the room but we were well looked after and it wasn’t an issue. Staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy and settled.

Lovely heritage home”

I had a lovely night stay here in Strahan. The accommodation was a beautifully restored old home. The staff were amazing and very welcoming and friendly. I would stay here again.

Nice place, nice location”

We were there 2 nights. All was fine. Our room had good wifi because we were above the common room but we were told some rooms do not. Good wifi is available for everyone in the common room.

Strahan a Visit to Back In Time”

We visited Strahan to retrace my ancestors past. Franklin Manor was the ideal venue with its Victorian charm, excellent hosts, charming sitting rooms with log fires, books and magazines for browsing. Grand dining room with a very good continental breakfast.....would liked to have had a choice of some hard boiled eggs, croisssnts and cheese as they do in Europe.....this is not to say that breakfast was not substantial with home made muffins, and fruit to take and muffins for on the go. We were given an upgrade to a King Room which had a lovely bay window and settee and plenty of tea, coffee, homemade biscuits provided. room also had personal touches with fresh flowers on mantle piece with original fireplace, cuttings of pine leave tucked between the towel folds and also at the end of the toilet roll!!!! Helpful hosts provided location info and where to eat. We took their advice and are at Risby Cove...can also recommend. Lovely gardens with wild white and red spotted mushrooms. Truly enjoyed our stay in this old world charm boutique hotel and would love to see the dining room operating again for dinner. We hope to return and will definitely be recommending to friends.

Relaxing stay”

The manor was very comfortable,being a short walk to the restaurant . Breakfast was a good, and plenty of variety even provided gluten free bread.

Top spot for staying in Strahan”

Your hosts at the Franklin Manor make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive and keep up the same high level of service until you depart. I doubt there's a better place to stay in Strahan.

Nice Rooms. Crummy Breakfast”

The rooms are nice but the place is under new ownership. The gourmet restaurant is closed--a downer for me as that was one of the reasons I decided upon this place. The place has a huge wine cellar and will sell you a bottle but no food. The breakfast was the worst B&B breakfast I have ever had. The manager said they do advertise "continental breakfast". Well, to my mind, in a classy B&B that might include things such as home made muffins. What we got was slice bread from the package which you could toast, canned peaches, some limited fresh fruit and an an assortment of dry cereals. I have had better breakfasts in the low end motel chains in the US. No one should be served sliced white/wheat bread from a plastic bag in a classy B&B. The awful breakfasts were one reason I would never stay at this place again. The room cleaning was good. However, when we saw we had run out of TP at 11:00pm, there was none to be found in the room. We used the tissues. It is attention to details that makes or breaks a B&B.

Very nice large traditional house”

The room was large , clean and comfortable. The house is kept much as it was when it was built and is generally comfortable. The Wifi works but sometimes only in the lobby and the restaurant was closed when we were there

Great location but lacking atmosphere”

Franklin Manor has all the potential to be a great small character hotel and we were attracted to it by reviews in guide books. However, the restaurant - one of our reasons for choosing it in the first place - was closed. Breakfast was dull and unimaginative Our room was incredibly dark - the lights need attention. Overhead light was very dim. Lady in charge was pleasant enough It was far too cold. We visited in mid November snd the weather was chilly enough to have some heating in the main public areas. At breakfast two people had their thick outdoor clothing on!

a bed and breakfast, lacking a decent breakfast. had a tv but unable to access channels. welcome book tells of a cellar to visit although not yet completed.

Great hotel - great position”

This is a great hotel - close to town, opposite the water (which you cant really see but immediately accessible when you walk down the driveway), and quiet! It is an older style house (query 1910s?) which has a number of rooms, a sitting room, meals area etc. Parking is available at the back of the building or down on the street. The restaurant was closed for winter when we were there. The continental breakfast was plentiful and good. The management were friendly and helpful and had some good suggestions. The rooms were a little tired ('80s period decor?), but warm and cosy and clean. The continental breakfast was included, and was in a large but cosy dining room overlooking the garden. I would be very happy staying here again.

Historic boutique hotel”

beautiful old style hotel in a great location. unfortunately the restaurant was closed for dinner breakfast choices were lacking unless you're are into a german breakfast. cheese and cold meat

Beautiful old manor house”

Lovely old manor house transformed into guest accommodation. Beautiful building well fitted out however sounds from other guests transmit easily through the walls. Breakfast provided. Evening meals available however was unable to taste these as the kitchen was closed during my stay. Easy walk into town to access attractions and other meal options.

what a lovely place to stay in strahan!”

franklin manor is a very lovely place. it is very clean and comfortable. we felt like we were home although we spent only one night there. (wish we had stayed a few more nights). we will definitely be back if we travel to strahan again.
