Hostel Zen is very nice, ver clear and good located. I'd enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended!

Clean and simple hotel”

The room and toilet are cleaned. To use bathroom, you have to pay, but its fine as long as I am aware of it. I would definitely come back to stay if visiting yokohama again.

small and stuffy room”

We booked rooms that sleep 3 people each and they were really small. No space for luggage when the mattresses are laid out, especially if you plan to bring a lot of things. The ceiling was low so a bit stuffy with the AC on at night. Shared bathroom/toilet, which we didn't realize until getting there. Still acceptable for the 1 night we stayed there but keep in mind the level of comfort you're looking for.

Not recommended because totally different from the photos and the reviews that I read, building was super old and the shower area, you have to pay 100 yen per 6minutes usage. They did not even mention it on their booking page. Staff was not so helpful and building looks scary.

Great neighborhood and budget friendly personal room”

I will definitely return for more stay. Love the place. Did a two week stay here and no regrets. With that price and you get a personal tatami room , large enough for the bed and extra space for open up a med size luggage. Peaceful and silent neighborhood, just like the name , "zen". For long stay you will have all the required , such as coin laundry, a shared fridges , rice cooker , microwave oven and a kitchen equiped with every thing for you to cooking your own food. Take note this is a five floor building and no lift , you will need to do some walking by again. , For the price I paid, I don't mind at all. You can rent a bath towel for 100 yen and other amenities such as yukata is up for rent as well. Unlike previous claims, bath time is no limit. Just make sure don't stay in your bath for too long since others might be waiting for their turn (shared bath and toilet, no complaints here since both is plenty in each floor). Another thing is the sound insulation might be a tad weak so try stay as silent as possible around might and early morning (so sorry for disturb my neighbour early morning for doing last minute luggage sorting).

We stayed 3 nights in Zen Hostel. It’s definitely a “you get what you pay for” kind of place. The price is cheap and so is the accommodation. If you’re going for a cheap place to sleep and not spend any time during the day, this is your place.

I only found out there is two type of hostel zen, the one I'm living in was the economic pax. But I didn't get any inform about getting the economic pax. By the way, we need to pay for the shower.

Great place to stay in Yokohama ”

Location excellent, round the corner from the metro and a supermarket, Chinatown a 10 min walk away. Facilities exactly as described. Breakfast was basic but filling. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Will come again when I visit Yokohama”

Overall great experiences. All of the staffs I met during my four days stays are friendly and helpful. Feel pleasant and peaceful staying here. Just a reminder note, there are only three bathrooms so you may need to wait around 10 min to use bathroom during peak hours. High worth value of money, definitely will come again on my next visit.

Not for picky travelers”

I traveled and booked this hotel with my 2 friends. (All girls) we crammed into a very small room with no bathroom inside. We need to find a shared bathroom to be able to take a bath and all... a value for money but really if you are in Japan for leasure dont book in here. The stay was so-so but will never book here again if i come back.

For the extreme budget traveller. In the ‘love hotel’ section of the city. - kind of sketchy. We were lead around the corner to a different ‘hostel’

Good value, nice roof garden!”

Poor neighbourhood with not a lot going on, but walking distance to Yokohama downtown. Very clean little room with balcony. Breakfast is good and served on the roof, which is nice. Not a fancy place but good value.
