Very dark and smelly room.”
Room has no window. Even the reception area smell bad. Staff not friendly. It was raining and we asked to borrow an umbrella, staff said we don’t have any. Nice river side location but thats it.
Good for overnight stay in town area”
Nice deco design n young staff. Live music n only “ alive n happening place in town” old ancient style n doors etc. Small room. Hate the dark room with green windows yellow lighting. Cant see n stiffing
Two thumbs down ”
For the exorbitant price (by Thailand standards) I expected more. Location on the river was nice and the street is lined with little restaurants and vendors selling various goods. You do not have to go far for a drink to ease the pain of all the money you just wasted on the room because there is a bar downstairs.
Nice hotel directly at the river ”
The room and the hotel were clean and the value for the price was ok. The restaurant in the hotel is directly at the river and it's quite relaxing to enjoy dinner there. The location is fine, near the Gem-Stone market (ca. 5 min by feet) and near the bus station (ca. 5min by tuktuk). I can highly recommend this place.
Funky and Clean”
Came in to Chanthaburi for a very quick one night (24hrs) to meet some local friends. The only hotel I know that suits me is Tamajun Hotel. Same glorious view of the Chanthaburi river with the entire stretch of the Chanthaburi waterfront community at my doorstep. Wake up in the morning to have fresh hot breakfast from the many stalls selling local handmade, homemade delights. Sweets, treats or the whole meal. At night, whet your appetite as you walk past Steak In Time with fresh and hot BBQ chicken, pork or beef. If you prefer Thai food, many options are available from traditional to fusion. Coffee is best had at CAP. The baristas there will glady help you make your choice with the many blends and flavours available. At Tamajun, wine and dine the night away with a band that entertains with live music, music any way you want as they take requests if you rather hear a song you like. The main market is within walking distance and if you are coming to/fro the Chanthaburi bus station (from Bangkok, or Suvarnabhumi), your walk is approx 15-20mins. Stay for a night, or longer at Tamajun. Be greeted and served by very willing and friendly staff who do their very best to make your stay most memorable.
Good Accom, Nice Service, Delicious Restaurant”
The most thing that foods& beverages so great. They have many traditional menu with good teste and the singer is sing 80 & 90's songs. The room very nice and comfortable. If we come back again to Chanthaburi, we will choose this hotel again.
Something magical, staying along the riverfront. The view of the river, peaceful, enchanting. One challenge with staying here is the lack of public transport. But that would be for all of Chanthaburi city. While there are win-motosai taxis at certain (not all) hotspots/major intersections, and the local Mazda pick-up convertible (like the songtaew in Chiang Mai), these services end at 8pm. Check with your hotel if you need to be collected for transfer. They may know contact numbers. Otherwise, prepare to navigate with Google Maps. Shouldn't be difficult if you have no mobility issues. A rather good exercise workout. Chanthaburi is a nice city with many entertainment outlets to leave your nights filled with happy memories. Stay at Tamajun or any of the other riverside (rimnam) hotels. You won'r regret it.
Good looking hotel but worst inside and door couldn't lock well !”
Hotel has no chair or any table i can put my stuffs on, and few gel soap provided i used it up in one time. TV is broke, air condition made loud noise and not cool. Door couldn't lock properly, if you pull it strongly you can get into a room easily without key. At night there is a loud noise from live music from 20.00 -23.00, so if you are looking for quiet place to stay this is the worst choice. For the breakfast, there are very few choices of it and not tasty. Also there is no fresh coffee i have to tear it from instant one. Price is too expensive not worth to the facilities. Few motto i can say for this hotel is "Look vintage and cool but not useful at all".
Chanthaburi is a province often skipped due to its accessibility. After travelling from Mochit bus station (Bangkok) to Chanthaburi city, you will definitely find life here slow to a relaxing snail's pace. Tamajun is a direct walking distance of around 10mins from the Chanthaburi bus station. Straight down Saritditdet Road and cut through a small alley that is Soi Rajmaitri. Google maps will show you the way very easily. Tamajun offers superb views of the river that runs through Chan. In the day, walk around the area and speak with the locals, perhaps even learning some colloquial Thai words along the way. Foodies will love it that this hotel has a wide menu of foods to choose from, as well as a well stocked fridge with various beers to suit your taste. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. But a slight unhappiness with my located room in the block facing the river. For security reasons, access to this block is locked. So remember to get the password for the electronic lock, otherwise you may be stranded outside. On the flip side, if you are planning on an early morning walk, their staff only arrives at 5.30am. So if you are planning action earlier than that, get the electronic lock release password. Other than the security system, everything else was perfect.
We didn't expect a lot and wasn't disappointed. The receptions is quite stylish, windows are unique. The room had no windows and was decorated with plastic animals, bit odd. The location was convenient for us and we didn't spend any time at the hotel. There was no need to.
Charming hotel in a great location in the old city. ”
Located right on the edge of the river. It's a very old building oozing charm. If you're staying in an old building you have to accept some limitations. No windows in the rooms but with the high ceilings you wont miss them. Basic bathroom. Very basic breakfast. Staff was very helpful. Definetely recommend for a night in the old city, hard to find places like this in Thailand.
A Boutique Hotel ”
The furniture used are boutique type which suit its location which is in the old town. Almost all attractions are within walking distance (not more than 3km). Moreover, it is located along the river. So, if you get a river facing room, you will have space to sit and watch the river view. Food served are nice, especially the ice cream cake.
Nice experiences in Chanthaburi Province”
This hotel is located in the old town zone of the province. The room is clean, good decoration, air-condition work well. There are two buildings, one is close to the river, another one is at the opposite side of the road. If you want to get the best experience, try to choose the building which is close to the river and the room which is not located close to the street. There is the balcony in front of all rooms that you can sit outside to see the river. Anyway, there is the restaurant at the first floor and live music until 11 pm, so it's not quiet if you want to sleep fast. The street in front of the hotel is only one lane, so it's the one-way road. There is the parking lot behind the hotel building. I got the room in the riverfront building but on the street side, it was noisy early due to local residences. The location is good for sightseeing, you can walk to visit many places like the cathedral, temple, museum. The owner was really kind. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant which was good in all aspects i.e. price, portion, taste. There were free bicycles to use but I didn't try. The breakfast was made by order, there were two menus we could choose (pork boiled rice and american breakfast). Not so many things, but enough to feel full in the morning.
Very nice staying here”
This is the first time for me to stay at Tamajun, well it was a very plesant stay in the cozy place, warm atmosphere, good facilities, no smell, anyway, the room is a little bit small and the view is wall of another building. There is a restaurant down there (along the river) also named Tamajun, serving the delicious foods, live songs, staffs and the owner are very welcome and helpful.
Two nights at Tamajun”
Interesting hotel, right on the Chantaburi river. Room was comfortable, clean. Breakfasts were interesting though a bit anemic. Staff were generally friendly and attentive. Restaurant seems popular but I only used it once. Food was okay.
My stay at Tamajun during new year celebration was very fantastic. The hotel is located at the ancient community along the Chantabun river side best for couples to spend their memorable moment together.
Culturing of bacteria”
Not the best experience - no table or anything in the room where i can put my belongings - had to put them on the not really clean floor - i did not like the bathroom - the floor was made from loose stones - no way you can clean that - hairs and other dirt can fall between the stones and will stay there - terrible !!!
Artsy Riverfront Hotel”
Only issue was that most if not all of the rooms don't have windows, which makes the small space extra dark. But the riverfront communal porch, old town location near sightseeing, and creative decorations are a good offset. Note you need your keycard to exit a building gate, so in the event of fire don't forget the keycard or be prepared to jump into the river from the second floor porch.
