Great location with very kind services in Madrid”

Great value with good location

I tried to find a cheap hotel but in the center. Hotel Francisco I is the most right match to me. Its location is in the center of the center of Madrid. It was very accessible to Opera, Real Palace, Gran Via and Sol. And staff if the hotel is very kind. The one thing I didn't like was no refrigerator. But kind staff helped me to put my stuff in the refrigerator of the reception. Hotel is under renovation. Maybe it would be better after finishing renovation.

the best 3 star hotel in the heart of the city”

Clean, comfy big beds and helpful housekeeping staff

we had such a pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly people. Agnes, their staff at the breakfast restaurant was very polite and helpful. She catered to all our needs. Aside from being a boutique hotel, this was very centrally located in all of madrid Arenal. Very near all attractions and restaurants. We would definitely come back to Francisco I Hotel.

Highly rated hotel which exceeded my expectations!”

(1) Centrally located, with shopping an metro nearby (2) Friendly and helpful staff (speak English) (3) Nice clean rooms at reasonable rates

We were very surprised at how nice the rooms were for the price. Can't beat the location (near SOL and Plaza Mayor) with restaurants (including Halal Muslim restaurants) and shopping in abundance. The OPERA metro from which you anywhere around Madrid is a stone's throw away and tour operators are in the vicinity, as well as must visit locations such as the Prado Museum. They call this Francisco Primero; primero it is and I'll be looking for the same during my next stay in Madrid. Hola!

Fantastic Hotel, highly recommend!! ”

Super nice room with super good location

the room is so so nice, new, clean, big & modern!! the location of the hotel is very good too, very close to the metro - sol / opera, many shops / restaurants around. the staff is helpful and nice, and the breakfast is good too. overall, we don't think this is a 2 star hotel, it should be at least 3 star or above, but the price is still very attractive! we enjoy to stay in this hotel and highly recommend to the others, we would come again if we go to madrid!!

Nice and clean hotel in the city center”

Good location

Nice location in the city center. Spacious room and bathroom. Wide and nice beds. Breakfast okay, missed fruits or vegetables but otherwise good. Easy access to underground. Lots of restaurants, cafes and shops in a walking distance. We took a taxi from airport and the taxidriver left us in a nearby street because the hotel is situated in a pedestrian zone and cannot drive there. Back to airport we ordered a taxi via reception and the taxi came in front of the hotel.

New renovated room in a great location”

Good location, large room and close to subway

Francisco I hotel is centrally located and provides easy access to tourist attractions. It is located on a busy shopping and food street. The standard room and toilet are of good size. The room is clean and bed sheets are changed daily. Internet speed is fast. The noise from the street is disturbing near mid night even though we are on level 5.

The most perfect location to explore Madrid from”

perfect location, clean, friendly staff

I was one of the less lucky ones to get a non-renovated room on the 5th floor beside the staircase to the breakfast area. Or maybe it was actually renovated, but just not as fancy or modern as the other ones. That doesn't mean it was a bad room. Mine had a small window facing the street. It was a very clean room, even the paint and tiles look new. The only issues worth pointing out are the shower head (one of those old-fashioned ones that doesn't move, and it's located in the center of the tub), a horizontal line that seems to be stuck on the LCD TV, and the noise coming from the hallway, especially people climbing up and down the staircase to the 6th floor for breakfast. Other than that, the room was perfect for my two-night stay. The hotel is centrally located, easy to get to (I took the Renfe from the airport, got off at Puerta del Sol, then walked a few minutes down Arsenal), and the staff spoke English. The bed was decent, and pillows were fluffy yet firm enough to support my big head. I would totally stay here again.

Clean, renovated rooms; terrific location

Wonderful hotel with clean, modern rooms in a great location in Madrid. Close to all of the sites. Although facing the pedestrian street, the room was not noisy when the windows closed. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast (toast, cheese and juice/coffee).

Great value for money ”

This hotel was in the perfect location, walking distance from everything you want to see. The hotel could get noisy at night (however, we stayed over a Saturday night and you’re in the centre so it was expected). There were no tea or coffee facilities which was a let down but for what we paid I couldn’t fault this hotel. The rooms were of high standard, the only annoying thing was the beds were on wheels so moved a bit and you get two single beds for a double. The staff were lovely and very helpful, would definitely stay again.

Great hotel, amazing location. Shame about the a/c”

Newly refurbished rooms, very comfortable and big beds, great shower, and satisfactory breakfast. The location of the hotel is amazing!

The hotel was lovely and the location was amazing! Slam bang in the middle of city centre, which was very convinient and easy to get to wherever you wanted to, either by foot or metro from either Sol or Opera which are both within a few minutes walk from the hotel. The only downsides of the hotel were that the bathroom door was completely see-through and the aircon in the hotel wasn't working, so for the first few days and nights we had to suffer the heat and it was unbearable. The hotel did provide us with an electric fan, but that was nowhere near enough. However, on the third day of our stay and after a lot of complaining, the hotel did finally provide us with an aircon unit which was fantastic and made the rest of our stay far more pleasurable. Other than that, the service that the hotel provided was very good and the atmosphere was friendly. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, so there was a bit of building work going on, but it wasn't too loud and was very clean. There was never any mess around where the people had been working during the day.

Great hotel, fantastic location - odd bathroom!”

Clean, modern, great location

really impressed with this hotel although we were in one of the newer rooms which had a completely open-plan bathroom which was very odd. i was sharing with a friend so we had to take in turns to leave the room if one of us needed the loo. i told the manager they should at least put a curtain up. this does not apply to all the rooms though so just make sure you ask for a separate bathroom. otherwise, a great hotel with very good value for money. breakfast is very basic with the standard dry spanish 'bolleria' of dry croissants and toast.

comfortable bed, great location, value for money

I have never had a more comfortable hotel bed. The air conditioning was very effective. So nice to have a balcony to watch the world go by. really excellent value for money. helpful staff. My television did not work, it was sorted out by the time I returned from my day out. The room cleaning was done early so it was possible to return in the afternoon for a siesta. The breakfast was adequate, but it would have been nice if it contained fresh fruit.
