Favorite Hotel in Phnom Penh”
I live in Cambodia and have visited Phnom Penh many times. I have actually walked past the Frangipani numerous times, but didn't notice it. It's location couldn't be any better for my interests. From the minute I walked into the lobby I was struck by the thoughtfulness of the designer. Much attention was given to the importance of light. This is true in the lobby, our particular room, the restaurant and even the rooftop pool area. For instance, our room had only one standard window, but the amount of natural light in the room was wonderful. On the other hand, in the evening the ceiling lights were kind of subdued which promoted a feeling of relaxation when the guest might have returned after a long day doing tourist activities or attending business meetings. The staff were politely friendly and eager to help. The pool is a good size and there are blooming frangipani trees all around the deck.....you could smell their wonderful aroma. There is also a small (6pp?) Jacuzzi next to the main pool. Our WiFi, bathroom features, cable TV and refrigerator were fine. The breakfast was buffet which is not my cup of tea, so to speak, but the quality of the food they offered was above average, in my opinion. You can't beat the location. The Frangipani is less than 100 meters from the National Museum, the Royal Palace grounds, several interesting art galleries and the Riverfront with its many restaurants and nightlife venues. All in all, the Frangipani became my favorite hotel to stay at when I'm in Phnom Penh, it's a great value. ONE TIP: Our room (#705) is just below part of the breakfast buffet in the morning. Around 10:00 P.M. the staff were moving furniture to set up the buffet for the morning and it was noisy for maybe 10 minutes. It didn't bother us, but you might keep it in mind if noise is a problem for you.
A good hotel that is centrally located.”
We stayed in Frangipani Royal for two nights. This hotel is in a central location just across the street from The Royal Palace and Silver Palace. Also, it is up the block from the Sisowath Riverside and about 10 minutes walk to the night market. The staffs at Frangipani Royal were friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, we were given a welcome fruit drink and a damp towel to freshen up. The large comfortable room has up dated décor. The nice size bathroom was well lite. The beds and sheets were clean. We were on the third floor and it was quiet. The outdoor pool is on the top floor with a beautiful view of the Palaces and riverside. There is a 24-hour grocery store a few stores down from the hotel. There are many restaurants right outside of the hotel. I would have given this hotel 5 stars, but the air conditioner in the room did not work resulting discomfort during humid days/evenings. Definitely, I will return to this hotel if I am in Phnom Penh again.
Close to all Phnom Penh features.”
My room had a view over to the Royal Palace and the parkland in front of the Palace. Very nice. The room and fittings (bed etc...) were very comfortable and the house keeping was good, but the floors could have been kept a little cleaner, with a vacuum every day, not just every-so-often. The paint on the timber surrounds was showing its' age and so too were the entry door, which was ill-fitting. But a nice place, with wonderful buffet breakfast and excellent staff, always asking if everything was Okay. I stayed here, for the first time in my travels to Phnom Penh, (in and out 2xtimes over a 2 week period) and would return here again. It is very handy to the Restaurants along the River Front and the many shopping Markets/Malls that Phnom Penh has to offer.
Value for money, very good location”
We arrived after 6 on the 1st day so the attractions were closed. No problem, we walked along the riverside (Sisowath Quay) all the way to the Phnom Penh Night Market which closes at 11. Good way to get our day's exercise. On the way back, we explored the outside of the Royal Palace. We also ate at the cafe right next to the hotel 2x. Cheap and good. And also at the Friends Cafe which is between the hotel and the National Museum. They serve really good fish amok and profit goes to charity (for needy students). We also bought last-min souvenirs from Mekong Arts. All within walking distance of the hotel. Buffet breakfast is ok. The traditional massage at the spa is so-so but I think the aromatherapy massage is much better. Based on the customer who just came out and wanted to get a bigger tip from her room for the spa therapist. And the front desk staff who said "why don't you do oil massage?" when we were booking the spa.
superb location, overlookig the royal palace”
we had a wonderful stay at the Frangipani royal palace hotal, the location is fantastic, accross the royal palace and in the heart of Phnom Penh. The staff was friendly yet very profesionnal. We particularly liked the design of the hotel.
Very centrally located. Comfortable room”
Stayed 1 night here on the 6th storey. The free one-way hotel transfer pick me up at the airport. Although I arrived at 8am, they managed to check me in after 30 mins. No major complain on the room itself except that there were some reno work going on on 7th storey for the 2 days (Sat/Sun). The hotel has 8 storeys and there is a lift in the hotel so no problem with the high floor. My room’s window opens up to some back view of residential/shophouses and a small part of the tonle sap river. However, I love the beautiful panorama view of Phnom Penh (Royal Palace, National Museum, Tonle Sap river) from the roof top (8th storey) where the swimming pool (it’s open after reno now!!) and lounge are located. The rooms are definitely not in the best condition. For example, as some had commented before about the shabby finish of the reno work, the room door could not be close tightly so there's a gap and will be able to tell from the corridor if it's light on/off in the room. But it’s not a big issue for me though. I like the layout of the room with the work table and TV separating the entrance, bathroom and the bed. Basic toiletries were provided (refilled by the hotel) and the bathroom also comes with a bath tub. The free breakfast is in buffet format, not superb but I was satisfied with the varieties provided. Will stay here again for my next trip in Nov.
Great location, comforatble rooms, helpful staff”
This hotel has an excellent location, opposite the royal cremation ground, near the royal palace, and not far from the waterfront. The rooms were very comfortable. The pool has spectacular views over the river and the city. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to visitors to Phnom Penh.
perfect location next to the Royal Palace”
The Frangipani Villa Hotel in Phnom Penh is a really good location in the centre of the town with easy access to all sights. The staff is very friendly and will help at any question. I was really surprised as I booked the hotel shuttle just at night before our arrival only via short email (as it was stated as inclusive in the Agoda offer). It worked perfectly even with ~2 hours delay at our arrival. In front of the hotel are always Tuk Tuks standby you can hire to go to any of the sights. After sightseeing the nice cosy pool invites to have a relaxing swim or just to drink a nice cocktail at the Royal Roof Top Bar :-)
A Very nice hotel superbly located and great value”
Always liked this hotel and have stayed there every time I visit Phnom Penh. Superbly located 20 meters from Sisowith Quay and the RiverFront. The only negative issue for me is telephone service. The phones in the rooms do not permit outside calls; one must go to the lobby main reception desk to make domestic (Cambodia - even PP local) and international calls. That means it is an impossible situation for business travelers unless they have a local SIM card with mobile phone or will want to communicate via VOIP/SKYPE. They have said again and again that they will have valid room-to-outside phone service (even if going thru the Hotel's operator) "very soon" but that hasnt happened yet. At first this deficiency was an annoyance but now it has become somewhat intolerable. Unless they install proper telephones in each room I doubt I will stay there again. Even making restaurant reservations becomes difficult as the situation presently exists. Otherwise the hotel is a delight and the staff are all delightfully friendly and anxious to be of service. With proper telephone service in the rooms I would stay there every trip to Phnom Penh.
Consistently great and attentive service”
Being visiting Phnom frequently for business and I always look forward to checking into a Frangipani hotel. There are 5 properties in Phnom Penh. I have beeen a guest there since the veryfirst one and has never had a bad experience. Kudos to all the staff who are always eager to help and make my stay enjoyable. Keep up the excellent workand I looking forward to my next visit very soon.
Fabulous hotel - value for money”
By far the best hotel we've stayed in Phnom Penh. Fantastic room with balcony overlooking the Royal Palace. Beautiful decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved this hotel so much and will be returning time upon time.
Pleasant hotel in central Phnom Penh”
A good mid-range choice in central Phnom Penh, particularly with the discount that was available on Agoda when we booked. Easy walking distance to the Royal Palace and the riverside area, and other parts of central Phnom Penh can be reached with the ever-present tuk-tuks. The rooftop swimming pool and bar offer a great view. The bar is overpriced, but offers a 50 percent discount during a nightly happy hour. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and helped set up a car with an excellent driver for the trip to the Killing Fields.
Fantastic and relaxing stay.”
I highly recommend this hotel when in Phnom Penh. The room is quite large and very clean. I love the white-washed walls and the high window. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They answered to my emails prior to arrival very promptly. I work for customer service and they showed exceptional service. The good breakfast choices and the airport transfer are commendable. And the rooftop pool is just lovely and has awesome view of the city! I want to say Thank You for making my stay in Phnom Penh worthwhile and memorable.
Wonderful Hotel with a Great Staff”
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel. The room was very clean, the location was near places we wanted to go, and the staff easily arranged for an English speaking driver with a nice clean car to take us where ever we wanted to go during our stay. We would definitely stay there again.
Good location close to riverside and Royal Palace”
Charming little hotel. Staff all friendly. Just a short walk from riverside (can walk/ run) with lots of dining options. 1km from the night market. Royal Palace, National Museum. The rest of the city is just a $2 or $3 tuktuk ride away. Not sure if I will ever return to Phnom Penh, but if I do I will stay here
Central location, the Best Western of Phnom Penh”
We visited Phnom Penh for a wedding and during the first leg of the journey, we stayed in an boutique hotel in another area of town. But we needed a place to stay 2 nights before flying out and ended up selecting this place, as our friends had stayed here during the celebration. Location can't be beat; it's a great place to easily grab a tuk-tuk and most drivers know its location. You can walk to several great souvenir places, including some locally-run silk shops. Great food is nearby, as are some markets and attractions. But it is a huge hotel and can get very noisy. Lot of foreigners come here and large groups. Walls are thin and you can hear people running and drunkenly speaking in the hallways. AC only goes down to 64 in bedroom and the common areas can get quite hot, including the fishbowl used for their breakfast (side note: amazing spread, albeit in a HOT room). Will you find better options? Maybe. It's a very Western hotel and I preferred the boutique hotel picked first.
A bit disappointing”
It's my second time staying in this hotel. Due to agoda special pro Orion offer, I decided to splurge on a Royal Palace Balcony View Suite this time (I stayed in a deluxe double room in June) I was able to check-in immediately even though I arrive at 9am. But I was disappointed that I was allocated a room on the 3rd floor (room 303) The balcony faced directly to the now-deserted Royal Crematorium and all I could see of the royal palace were some of the intricate carving on the top of the royal palace buildings. And because it was facing the main road, it was noisy at night and early in the morning. Nonetheless, the room is still cozy - aircon was cold and the King-size poster bed was comfortable. I will still return to stay at this hotel for my next trip due to the general comfort of the rooms and it's superb location. But I will keep to booking a Deluxe double room - no view but at least it will be quiet and cheaper, Also just a tip on the complimentary one way airport transfer - used it for the trip for hotel-to-airport. It's easy to just get a cab coupon for USD9 when arriving at the airport exit but will need to pay USD12 if get the hotel to book the cab to airport.
Very good stay at Frangipani! We were there for 3 nights as a couple and enjoyed it. ”
Staff is very professional, friendly, attentioned and helpful. All the staff members were really great. Hotel location is very convenient, next door to the Royal palace, national museum and Wat Olanum. Few minutes away from night market and Wat Phnom. Really central location, very safe neighborhood and several shops and restaurants next to it. Breakfast was good and varied. Pool and rooftop are good as well with a beautiful view on the royal palace and the city especially at night. I definitely recommend it! And thank you to all the staff for your warm welcome and making our stay as a very good one.
Great location with lovely rooftop pool and bar”
i booked the hotel frangipani for a three night stay in phnom penh and have no complaints. the room was clean and air-conditioned and there is a lovely rooftaop pool and bar with spectacular views over the royal palace and river. the location was great for the bars and restaurants of 51 st, just a 15 minute walk or usd2 tuk tuk. breakfast was very nice with a choice of western and asian food and the staff were polite and helpful.
Fantastic location for all there is to do in Phnom Penh, opposite the palace and 2000 metres from the museum. Hotel arranged a Tuk Tuk to take us the killing Fields, Russian Market and S21. He was cheap and waited for us everywhere. The hotel staff where brilliant, rooms a good size and the roof top pool and bar was a real bonus. Couldn't have wanted for anymore.
