As an asian, it is uncommon to see a establishment/building with 13th floor. But this hostel didnt give me any bad luck. I guess 13 is just a number. Kidding aside, location is great, they keep the room clean and staffs are friendly/approachable.

good place for backpackers! ”
i had a great time here getting to know random other travellers and i made many friends in the pantry. thought i would spend christmas alone in my bed but i was wrong. theres not much space to put your stuff though and i had 4 bags with me that i struggled to fit in my designated space so i would recommend this place only for those with 1-2 bags.

I have always enjoy my stayovers at the Freehand brand of hostels ! Very spacious lockers, clean old-school style restrooms. Sitting space in the room is a great amenity. Great lobby area to relax and people watch. Beautiful and comfortable bedding.

Hybrid of hotel and hostel”
I love this place, it has a great vibe. I’ve met fascinating people from all over the world here. The bunks have a night light and a little built in shelf to place a phone or small item on. The front desk staff is accommodating and friendly. If you’re familiar with sharing place with new people, this place might be for you. I’ll be returning again and again.

Holidays in L.A”
It is in downtown, and if you buy the Tap card fot the subway you can go everywhere from thr hostel. The beds are comfortables, everything is clean, I stayed in a 8 mixed bedroom and it was good

Freehand LA - is a beautiful boutique hotel / hostel ! It is my favourite fun spot whenever I am in LA. Unfortunately , it is in California = extreme Sars 2 / Co-vid lockdowns are still in place.

Great Location! ”
Arrived by Amtrak. Dash B Bus was free from the station and just 1 block to the Freehand! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only small critic I have is that the pool water was FRIGID!! (could use just a bit of warmth to it - especially once the afternoon hits and the surrounding buildings shade the pool.

Nice hostel with valuable price”
I stayed for one night, and this place is located in a quite great spot! CVS is only 1-2 min by walk, and there was a city bicycle spot as well. The only bad thing was that there was no door for the bathroom so others can hear while you were using a hairdryer or getting makeup done. The hallway was kinda dark which made me a bit scared lol

Cool Vibes and Stylish Interiors”
The Freehand properties always have really stylish interiors, and their LA outpost is no exception. The lobby is incredibly stylish and the rooms are equally matched. Beds are comfortable but the construction of the bunks are quite badly engineered so it's challenging to climb into and they creak A LOT. The showers are always clean, and the toiletries provided are really plush and luxe. It was my first "hostel" experience, which turned out better than I could have imagined thanks to the upscale amenities and plush vibes. Service here however, needs a lot of work. Staff are not helpful or friendly, and didn't share information about the facilities of the hotel. Location is convenient and serves as a great base to explore LA. There's also a Whole Foods Market on the next block and lots of other amenities and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Very safe area.

Pros are the rooms are pretty big & the cons are that u better have an extra $50 which is not mentioned at time of booking online they hold it for deposit but besides that great view & awesome commodity.

LA Lowkey Chic”
This is a cool spot that has a bohemian vibe, laidback and simple. Some of the rooms are dorm style maybe for those planning a more upscale hostel feel. While the corner room offers small bench type cushioning sofas so you can have more of a kickback lounge type hang, this is the room I stayed in and it was clutch for me and my lover. We didn't eat at the restaurant or have a drink at the small bar so I can't comment on that. To get ice you have to go to the basement to a lounge area thats also doubles as a kitchen, which is a slight inconvenience. They do have a small gym in the basement area too. Overall the room was clean, the AC worked good, the bed had a ton of pillows and the wooden blinds are cool but don't allow for the room to blackout so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to light. I like the spot because it's relatively close to everything where an Uber or hoping on an electric scooter will you get you to where you need rather quickly. It's a decent spot that doesn't burn up too much of your money for the stay but there are higher end hotels that may offer way more for your buck.

Nice hotel, comfortable”
The room was niely decorated. Shower and AC work very well. I was on the 12th floor with a view. It is a bit noisy in the mornings, sirens and normal downtown traffic, but on the 12th floor is not terrible. I wouldnt want to be on a lower floor, though. Lobby and rooftop are a really good place to chill out and work. Even though the hotel was kind of empty and I had asked to check in one hour earlier, they made me wait until 3pm. So no kudos for going the extra mile. If you have a car, maybe staying in downtown is not the best option.
